The Shocking Twist

“ Nathan? You?” Andrea watched as Nathan stood gallantly with confidence before her. His facial expression was blank with no emotion in it. 

Andrea became angry at his nonchalant attitude about her outburst. She started yelling at him, “ Were you so hurt with this divorce that you decided to boost your ego? Why did you hire people to act as your bodyguards? You even went as far as paying a huge amount to rent cars, just to show off. You must be stupid to think I will fall for this charade. If you have this kind of money to throw around, why didn't you take care of me more when we were together? Now that we almost finalize our divorce, you are trying to present yourself as who you are not. You are just shameless.” 

She hissed at Nathan, but the latter didn't react to her silly display of immaturity.

“ Are you done ranting? Let's get inside and finalize the divorce. I have something more important to do, so I don't have time for your chit chat” Nathan said calmly. 

He didn't stutter, nor did he behave vulnerable before Andrea and her lover, he was brave when he talked. Andrea was surprised at his confidence. She had thought he would be hurt or cried for her mercy, but the Nathan standing before her didn't seem vulnerable.

The onlookers had brought out their phones and started taking videos just for fun. Andrea looked at them feeling a little embarrassed. The man she was attacking didn't seem affected by her outburst, so she looked stupid to the public viewers.

“ Fine! Let's go inside, I don't have all day either” she shouted.

Felix, who was watching the drama, furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. He was wondering how Nathan acquired all the wealth within twenty four hours. As a professional and smart CEO, it was necessary to gather information about their enemy before venturing into any business. 

After Nathan left his house the previous day, he had his personal assistant do a background checkup on Nathan, and none of the reports presented him as a billionaire.

“ Babe, I will wait for you outside here until you finalize the divorce with this scoundrel,” Felix said as he directed his gaze at Nathan, making sure he got his message.

Nathan, on the other hand, just shrugged his shoulders and smirked at his insult.

Andrea pouted her lips, “ Awwn baby, I thought you will follow me inside. I don't want to be in the room alone with this fake man” she whined 

“ Stop being dramatic, babe. The judge and his secretary will be there with you” Felix commented.

Andrea led the way to the courtroom while Nathan followed behind. The receptionist welcomed them with a cheerful smile,

“ Good morning to you sir and ma. How can I help you, please?” She asked.

Andrea flipped her hair backward in arrogance, “ We have an appointment with the Judge stated for 2pm, I hope he is around” 

“ Oh, she is waiting for you in her office. Please follow me” The receptionist took them to the Judge’s office.

“ Since both of you have signed the divorce papers, I believe you have both agreed on the decree of divorce or is there any adjustment you would like to make before I sign?” The judge asked the couple.

Andrea quickly responded to her, “ No ma’am, there is nothing to adjust. We have reached a consensus before we came here” she uttered.

The Judge turned to Nathan, expecting his own response, but Nathan just shook his head negatively.

“ Please Go ahead and sign the papers” he answered with a calm expression.

“ Fine, I believe we will begin the final documentation then. You are free to go your separate ways. Have a nice day Ms Andrea and Mr Nathan” the judge shook their hands each and she was professional to call them by their first name.

As they were walking through the lobby, towards the entrance, Andrea didn't stop tormenting Nathan with her noise.

“ How did you get the money to rent those cars, huh? The last time I checked, I emptied your savings. Did you get involved in a shady business? Have you become a criminal just to show off to me?” She asked while shouting until they reached outside.

She touched Nathan's shoulder when he didn't respond to her question, “ I'm talking to you, Nathan! Answer the damn questions I asked you!” She yelled.

Nathan turned around at her, his face calm but was filled with rage. He took dangerous calculated steps towards Andrea, “ I owe you no explanation, Andrea. We are officially divorced, so anything I do with my life is none of your damn business” He answered, his voice laced with resentment.

Andrea was stunned at his response. She knew he was right, but she wasn't ready to back down.

“ I'm very sure you are involved in shady business, that's why you are being followed by bodyguards. Your Secret will soon be exposed, Nathan” 

“ Everyone can't be a manipulative slut like you, that would go to any length to live a life of luxury. I'm not like you, gold digger. You are free to think about anything in that small brain of yours, as far as it makes you sleep at night” Nathan replied

Megan approached Nathan, “ My lord, are you through with the process? Can we leave now?” She asked.

“ My Lord? Who the hell are you, Nathan?” Andrea questioned.

“ As you can see, I'm not someone of the same status with a whore like you. The next time you want to discuss anything with me, accord me some respect. Else, there will be consequences. Good Riddance to bad rubbish” Nathan bragged at Andrea who left her mouth wide open in amazement. He entered the car, then his entourage drove off, leaving Andrea and Felix to their problems.

“ Nathan, wait! Can you give me a second chance? Please forgive me, we can revoke our divorce before they start the documentation” She ran after the car, but the cars were long gone.

“ Is Nathan truly wealthy? Is he really from a reputable family? Why is that woman addressing him as her lord? She is old enough to be his mother” Andrea said as she watched the cars disappear from her sight.

“ Shit! Why did I leave Nathan? Why wasn't I patient with him as he pleaded. Nathan was a good husband to me and he had never made me cry.” Andrea complained in regrets.

“ For Nathan to arrive here in those expensive cars that are worth more than hundred million dollars, his net worth would have been multiple billion dollars” Felix stated beside her. He was perplexed at the turnout of events. 

He held Andrea's hand, “ Let's go home babe. Nathan is in the past now” 

Andrea flinged away his hand in anger, then she pointed accusing fingers at him.

“ It's your fault! You lured me with money and other material things. You made me lose a rich husband, the man of my dream. His cars cost more than all the wealth you  ever gathered as a CEO. Your entire net worth is not an inch close to Nathan's wealth. You distracted me, it's all your fault” 

Out of annoyance, Felix slapped Andrea,

“ How dare you put any blame on me? Weren't you the one who promised to give me your body in exchange for luxury? I picked you up as a nobody and made you what you are today. After everything I did for you and your family, you have the gut to stand there running your mouth at me, just because you realized your ex-husband is a rich man. You are an ungrateful useless woman. I don't even know if you were the bad luck in his life. Because how did he become rich only when you left him? You are nothing, but a cheap greedy whore, Andrea Wilson.” Felix bursted out in anger. He left her standing, then he drove off in annoyance.

“ No! I can't lose Nathan like this. I have to do something, I need to make him mine again” Andrea cried, then she hurried home to her mother.

“ Mom! Mom! I was extremely ashamed and embarrassed today at the court. Nathan is now rich, mom! He came in a fleet of cars and he had men bowing at his feet. What should I do?” She yelled as she barged into their living room in a race.

Josephine looked at her daughter as if she had two heads, “ Nathan has become rich, so what? You have Felix too, so don't be deceived” She said, then she continued eating the fries on her plate.

“ Don't you get it, Mom? Nathan is ten times richer than Felix. Felix’s wealth is like a peanut compared to Nathan's” Andrea explained.

“ What! That's huge! Why didn't we envision this?” Josephine exclaimed. She was lost in thought for some minutes, then she suddenly shouted, “ Yes! The best solution at the moment is to break up with Felix, then you find a way to get close to Nathan. You will beg, roll on the ground and seduce him into having him back.” She advised her daughter.

Andrea seemed not to be satisfied with her mother's suggestion. She chuckled at her, “ How do you think that's possible? Have you forgotten I'm carrying Felix’s child? Nathan was aware of this pregnancy and it will be difficult for him to accept me back with another man's baggage. Please think of a better solution, Mom” She said tiredly.

“ What if we abort the pregnancy? Nathan will accept you back if you are no more pregnant” Josephine's cruel suggestion baffled her daughter.

“ Are you advising me to kill my unborn child? What kind of a mother are you?” Andrea flared up.

Josephine was startled, but she recomposed herself, “ If you want to get Nathan back, that's the only solution we have. Get rid of that thing in your stomach, then go get your man, period” She said wickedly, then she went back to her fries. Andrea was left at a crossroad.

Back at Nathan's new home, he just entered the house to rest. “ I'm finally free of the shackles holding me back in life. There is no space for any weak love anymore” He murmured.

Megan chuckled beside him, “ You never can tell, you might still get another chance in love in the future. Your main focus now is the mission ahead of you. As I explained earlier, you are the rightful heir to the throne of the Powerful Mage kingdom. Not only that, you have multi-billions dollar inheritance awaiting you as we speak. You…”

Nathan interrupted her, “ One step at a time Ms Megan. You haven't explained to me how this Mage kingdom looked like and who my families are or when to meet them. Now you are talking about inheritance, what inheritance? It was left by who?” He fired her with many questions at a time.

Megan bowed her head to apologize, “ I'm sorry if you are too overwhelmed with the sudden information revealed to you. I will list some of the inheritance left for you, but the mission ahead of you will be explained by another person. I'm just a servant following instructions, please don't be offended.” 

Her words had an impact on Nathan and he decided to be easy on her with his questions. “ I think if I want to succeed in this new place, I need to be patient.” He wondered, then he faced Megan:

“ That mean I should speak less and listen more” He said

“ Exactly, My Lord. Back to the previous discussion, you have several arrays of companies, both local and international that are registered under your name, but the documents are kept in a safe because of your enemies. There are some tasks you have to undertook to successfully claim them.” Megan explained

“ What are the tasks involved? I hope they are not shady?” He asked.

“ That is my job to explain, you will understand better with my explanation. It's been a long time, champ” A man entered the room with a baritone voice that exuded powerful authority.
