Chapter Two

“Eww, disgusting “ spitted out Xander almost vomiting when he saw a girl's pants stained with menstrual blood among the pile of dirty clothes when he was sorting the laundry.

Xander doesn’t mind working hard in cleaning the school premise but the students vow to make life a living hell for him by intentionally making the surroundings dirty and adding their dirty stinking underwear together with their sports uniform for him to wash. The first time he experienced this and reported it to the school authorities, the students gang up against him and said he was lying and Xander ended up getting a warning from the disciplinary committee and if he gets three warnings then he is going to be expelled from the university with immediate effect.

This made Xander to ignore them , he doesn’t want anything that will affect his education because he feels this degree is the only chance he has in turning his life around and becoming somebody in the future and he won’t allow them to make him have bad records besides Xander Kings has endured this hash treatment for 4 years and he only has a semester to graduate and become free of the shackles of bully and poverty.

Xander Kings sharply washed the clothes using the gigantic washing machine before he quickly took a shower and wore his favourites white shirt which he ironed very well for this event ,he put the shirt on with his only blue Jean trouser which he got at a thrift shop before heading out to the university auditorium where he is going to ask the girl of his dreams out and he also have high hopes of receiving the prestigious award as the student of the year because he is the best in his department and also the best in sports.

“Today will be a good day Xander Kings“ he said to himself while arranging his long curly and messy dark hair in the mirror with his fingers before heading out.

The university auditorium was filled with both students from every level dressed in their designer outfits and all the lecturers were seated on the podium of the big hall which looks like a hall in a royal palace. Xander held the ring with the emerald green gem stone in his hands and tried to breathe in and out because he was anxious ,he has never asked a girl out in his life and he hopes that this lady won’t say no since he will be awarded the best student of the year, that should count for something he thought.

“Karen, I need to speak with you” said Xander shyly to the red haired beautiful lady who wore a green dress that made her look like an elegant princess,no man will see her and not desire her. Everyone turned to look at Xander with curiosity wondering what the poor church rat had to say to the queen bee of the university.

Bianca and Suzy already have their phones out with malicious looks on their faces which gives Xander cold feet. Bianca and Suzy are social media influencers with thousands of followers from around the globe and this means that a lot of people are currently watching him as he asks a girl out for the first time in his life.

“I should have done this in private “ Xander thought but since he is already here . He decided to man up and speak his mind ignoring the looks everyone was throwing at him.

“What’s your problem and what do you want from me?” Asked Karen squinting her nose as if she was speaking to a smelling trash but Xander ignored the irritating looks she was giving him and opened his mouth to speak .

“Karen, I would like to give you this ring and also ask you out to be my girlfriend. You’re beautiful and I like you “ said Xander, his heart beating fast while his hands holding the ring shaked a little. He read online that ladies love confident men and he hopes this works out for him.

“Who does he think he is ?”

“The audacity for him to ask a popular girl out!”

“Is he the cleaning man in school ?”

“Isn’t she Ashton’s girlfriend ?”

“Ewww, even a pig will say no to that poor thing !”

The student kept pouring out harsh words at Xander but he remained standing without moving an inch, he is used to these insults.

“I don’t care about them,I only care about what you say Karen and I will love to hear your answer” Xander said to Karen who was still giving him an off look while her two friends kept streaming the whole thing live on several social media platforms.

“What is going on here ?!” Ashton asked with a loud voice when he suddenly appeared from behind and he came to stand in front of Xander. The difference between their class in society is so clear ,Asthon was wearing a 3 piece Armani suit with a nice haircut and a Rolex wristwatch while Xander was looking so plain and ordinary in his jeans and fading shirt.

“This thing here is trying to snatch your girlfriend, “ said Bianca with a mean scowl ,the flashlight of her latest phone still recording the whole thing.

“How dare you try to steal my girlfriend in the presence of everyone ,do you want a death wish? I can have you arrested for this silly act of yours. You can never ever get a girl like her even in your dreams “ said Ashton arrogantly crossing his hands and glaring up at Xander who is taller than him.

“Let’s hear from Karen herself, the last time I checked she is single and you were cheating on her. Go on Karen, speak your mind” Xander said to her but she shook her head

“What do you mean ? I don’t know what you’re talking about Xander. Ashton and I are still dating as if anything can break the university’s power couple besides we are both loyal to each other “ said Karen going to give Ashton a big hug as they both scowl down at Xander while everyone else started laughing around them and pointing fingers at Xander.

“What a pathetic loser “

“Xander is delusional “

“Just take a look at the thrift he manages to wear on such special occasions “

“Ashton should have him arrested “

The student resumed saying mean words to Xander but he stood his ground.

“Karen, I saw you crying your hearts out in the garden of the university when I was cleaning a few days ago. You told me that you both have broken up because you found out that he is cheating and you’re suspecting that Ashton is cheating with Suzy. I listened to you and gave you a crying shoulder. You called me handsome and kissed me on the lips while playing with my hair that night before going back to your apartment. Why are you suddenly denying all these and making me look like a liar?!” Xander asked Karen clearly pissed at her for toying with his emotions and denying the truth.

Everyone knows that Ashton is a playboy in the university but he and Karen always seem to be together. Karen seems to be blinded by her feelings and Ashton’s money or she’s just in self denial.

Xander thought Karen is the one for him because lately,he kept having dreams about a red haired woman and he thought it was a sign that she's his soulmate especially after the brief kiss they shared but it’s clearly all wrong and it pisses him off because that’s his first kiss since he has never had a girlfriend.

“Leave me the fuck alone. I don’t like you, I have a boyfriend. Mind your business and go clean off some toilets please and what on earth will I do with such a cheap and fake ring!” Shouted Karen collecting the ring from his hands and throwing it at his face before she hissed loudly, her friends kept cheering her while Xander’s entire face turned red with embarrassment.

“Take this for assuming that Ashton and I are cheating on Karen '' said Suzy before she splashed the remaining wine in her glass cup at Xander staining his white shirt in the process which made everyone gasp.
