3. The Trap At A Party

Chapter Three

Xander’s heart was boiling with so much rage and anger. He tightened his knuckles, fighting the intense urge to break into a fight. He can ignore these insults but there is a limit to every madness and they have all overstepped their boundaries today.

They have insulted him and stained his white shirt with red wine while recording it for the whole world to see,Xander Kings is more than furious and was ready to risk it all by throwing a punch at arrogant Ashton’s face , Suzy was so lucky to be a female because Xander doesn’t believe in fighting with women.

“Don’t do it Xander, they are not worth it. You came a long way and you should exercise more patiently. All the lecturers are here and there is video evidence which will implicate you so please calm down because you will get expelled if you find them and all your 4 years will be a waste ” said Zion whispering to Xander in his ears.

Zion is the only guy that treats Xander like a normal human being in the entire university. They are both in the same sports team and Zion voluntarily decided to help Xander by giving him a small room in his apartment which has a single bed and nothing else was inside but it was better than sleeping in classrooms. Xander was very grateful for the kind gesture and he vowed to repay Zion’s kindness someday.

“It was so stupid for him to think that he will ask out such a beautiful girl and he expects her to agree. Maybe he is trying to find a manipulative way to become a wealthy man’s son Inlaw. “ hissed Erik beside Zion which made Xander to be disappointed in him.

Erik is Zion’s best friend and he has to put up with Xander since he lives in his best friend’s house. Erik always begged Xander to do his assignment for him in secret when he comes to the apartment and that’s why Xander was so disappointed at what Erik said in front of all these people.

Xander Kings never thought of becoming a son-in-law to a wealthy man because he knows how society works and he is certain that he will be treated like complete trash by the woman’s family since he has nothing to brag about or to offer.

“Attention everyone , stop the drama and get back to your seat this instant !” Announced a lecturer using a microphone that echoed throughout the entire hall. The noise in the busy hall died down and everyone went back to sit down. Karen, Bianca , Suzy and Ashton gave Xander a triumphant look before they went back to their seats in front of the hall.

Xander Kings bent down and picked his emerald green gem ring and wore it back on his fingers before he went back to sit on the empty seat beside Zion, his face still looking red with embarrassment and anger.

“At Least I will win the student of the year award even if I woefully failed to toast Karen” said Xander to himself.

“And now the best student of the year award goes to no one else but Mr Ashton !” Said the Vice chancellor and the entire school started whistling and cheering Ashton as he stood up with a proud grin and was blowing kisses to the student, it was only Zion that didn’t stand up or clap for Ashton because he was aware of the sleepless nights Xander had amidst his work to be the best in both school and sports.

“This must be a joke. Everyone knows that I am the student of the year “ said Xander and the entire hall suddenly went quiet as all eyes turned to Xander who didn’t know that he spoke loudly.

“Is there a problem Mr. Xander Kings ?” Asked the vice chancellor nonchalantly.

“With all due respect , I think I deserve that award Professor ” said Xander but the vice chancellor gave him a disgusted look and snort

“You’re an ungrateful charity case Mr Xander. After all the trouble the university took in order to pay for your tuition, do you still have the audacity to open your dirty mouth and talk? You’re ungrateful and I advise you to sit back on your seat as a second warning. The next time you make any slight mistake , you’re going to get expelled. '' said the vice chancellor which shocked Xander. How can a well educated man and a professor be inconsiderate and speak like that ?

“I’m sorry, go on” said Xander before he slumped to his seat feeling so dejected and at loss. Everything seems to be going against him in this life and he suddenly wished that he died along with his parents , life is getting too cruel and unbearable for him.

Xander Kings silently watched the whole award ceremony and Ashton’s father immediately called and offered to donate the sum of 2 million dollars to the university as appreciation and the students and lecturers cheered loudly hailing Ashton. Kelly stood up and went to give Ashton a big kiss in front of everyone as the lectures dismissed the assembly.

“Sorry buddy, I know that you deserve that award” said Zion patting Xander on the back.

“Thanks man, what will I do with the award anyway? Seems like money is much better than skills , talent and knowledge in the society “ complaained Xander bitterly.

Xander was on his way back to the apartment when Ashton and his drunk friends stopped him on the way.

“Leave me alone Ashton, you won. You have the award and you also have Karen so please let me be, you don’t have any reason to bully me” Said Xander trying to walk around Ashton and continues his journey. He is suddenly feeling hungry and he needed to find something to eat since he only ate the free breakfast at the school cafeteria.

“Oh my poor friend , I’m not here to bully you. I’m here to invite you to a celebratory party at my apartment . Consider it as an apology for stealing the award from you, we all know that you truly deserve that award and you also deserve to be the captain of the sports team “ said Ashthon sounding really sincere while offering a fancy invitation card with an address to Xander.

Xander collected the card without a word and walked away even though he was skeptical about it. He decided in his mind that he won’t go to the party because it will be boring for him since no one will talk or dance with him. Besides it’s suspicious that he never gets invited to any party and suddenly Ashton’s his biggest enemy personally invited him.

But Xander changed his mind and decided to put on a black anime themed t shirt that Zion gifted him. Xander is not going to the party to have fun but he is going there to find something to eat because when he went home there was nothing left to eat and he was really hungry.

The bouncers in front of Ashton’s large villa gave Xander a thorough look and searched him up and down before allowing him to enter the house which was parked with luxurious cars, loud music and neon lights.

Xander stayed on the low and intentionally avoided the area with a lot of people , he has had enough for the day and he doesn’t want to bring any attention to himself.Apart from the bar filled with expensive wines and alcohol ,Xander sighted the long buffet table which was filled with so many types of delicious looking food that made Xanders stomach make sound while his mouths immediately salivates when his eyes landed on the chicken.

It’s been a long time since he ate chicken without thinking. Xander grabbed a plate and filled It with so much food at once before he found a hidden corner and started eating the delicious tasting food in a hurry to fill his empty stomach which was making a sound on his way to this party.

“This food is so delicious and I will add more in a takeaway pack so that I can microwave it for tomorrow and next tomorrow. “ said Xander enjoying his meal in peace till he felt shadows over his head.

“Looks like you’re enjoying the party,” said Ashton, who was surrounded by his minions.

“Uhmm, thanks for the food” said Xander awkwardly

“Nah, you can eat as much as you want but I want to show you something please come with us” said Ashthon with a sly smile on his face that clearly shows that he is up to no good.

“No,thanks for inviting me but I’m about to leave,” Xander said, standing up and dropping the plate that still contained some food.

“Either follow us quietly or we will drag you and make a scene “ said Ashthon with a snub smile that was when it dawned on him that Ashton has an evil plan and he won’t easily be tricked.

“No, I won’t come with you. I’m going home “ said Xander turning around to leave but he felt a punch to his face and at this point Xander knew that the apology invitation card by Ashton was too good to be true, this is a trap and he has already fallen into it.

“Who are you to question my orders? “ said Ashthon, heaving and breathing hard with rage and anger. His loud voice already drew everyone’s attention as they all rushed to come and take a look at what’s happening between Ashton and Xander.
