Chapter 1

"Kill them all! Don't let any of them live!"

"Noooo!"

Bught!

A deadly kick hit Darren's buttocks, and it sent him tumbling to the cold floor.

Darren sighed heavily; the nightmare had come back. Even after ten years had passed, the dream where the criminals killed his parents continued to decorate his nights.

Yes, at that time Darren was only 12 years old when, in the middle of the night, their house was visited by several masked people who killed everyone in the house. And at that time Darren managed to escape, after reluctantly obeying his father's orders, who asked him to run away immediately.

Darren managed to hide in an empty drum behind his house, so that the criminals could not find him. Because none of his family members were left and Darren also did not know where his parents' extended family was, he was finally treated at an orphanage.

The murder of his parents was allegedly due to debt problems; it was stated in the trial that Darren's father had a large debt to a businessman who was the number one richest man in the country, and Darren's father could not pay because all his businesses went bankrupt. And they claimed that Darren's father attacked him first and killed him.

Because the opponent is a rich and influential person, in the end the murderer only gets an unequal sentence, and instead all the assets of Darren's family inheritance are taken over by Buston, the brains behind the murder of Darren's family.

One year, Darren lived in the orphanage, then the orphanage was evicted. Because the orphanage mother loved Darren very much, Darren was taken by the orphanage mother back to his hometown city of Y until he finished his education.

In the past year, Darren returned to his hometown, city X, to try his luck after graduating from college. He was accepted to work for a large company as a cleaning service because he had no experience. And five months ago, the owner of the company suddenly asked Darren to marry his daughter, which turned out to be to cover up the disgrace of the child who was pregnant and did not know who had impregnated her.

Renata, Darren's wife At first she refused the marriage, but due to coercion and for the sake of her parents' reputation, she finally could only surrender when she was married to Darren. Even after marriage, she never respected Darren as her husband.

"Hey dwarf, for God's sake. What are you doing? Every night, you're delirious! Just disturb people's sleep!" Renata shouted in annoyance while ruffling her waist with a growing belly.

Darren didn't answer; he just stayed silent and held his head, which was hurting.

"Tomorrow, if you're still delirious, you can sleep in the maid's room!" Renata continued irritably.

Indeed, Darren and Renata are still living in the family home of Martano, Renata's father. Even now, Darren still works as a cleaner for the company, even though he has become the son-in-law of the Martano family.

Darren glanced at the clock on the wall of his room, which was already four in the morning. As usual, besides working in the office, Darren is also required to help with some homework and serve Renata's needs.

"Hey, where are you going? I'm still talking!" Renata shouted, annoyed that Darren ignored her and headed straight for the door.

"To go downstairs and water the plants, I have to leave for work early!" Darren replied firmly.

Darren left, leaving Renata, who pulled back her blanket and continued to sleep until six o'clock. And after noon or evening, he would go out to have fun with his friends, despite being 7 months pregnant.

Tap! Tap!

Darren walked slowly down the stairs, because he didn't want his footsteps to disturb his in-laws, who were still asleep.

But....

Prang!

The sound of an item breaking and the sound of shards falling on the floor

"Oh my!" said Darren, adjusting his hair roughly. Because of the dim atmosphere created by the fact that the room lights had not been turned on yet, he accidentally nudged the large flower vase located on the stairs, causing it to break and scatter on the floor.

Cktek!

All the lights instantly turned on brightly, and you could see Darren holding his breath, waiting to see what would happen next. Because he saw his in-laws standing there staring at him.

"What are you doing?" asked his mother-in-law, Gia.

"Sorry, Ma. I accidentally knocked over this vase; I wanted to go downstairs and water the plants," Darren replied quietly.

"Shiiit, what time is it?" "Why are you watering the plants at this hour?" asked Gia again.

"I have to leave early in the morning; there is an additional job given by Mr. Kodir," Darren replied again, mentioning the name of his manager at the office.

"You think that vase is cheap! Even your month's salary wouldn't be enough to buy that; you just say sorry. All will not return with just an apology!" Gia shouted again.

Darren was silent. His hands began to clean the broken vase. Luckily, Bi Asih was willing to help by bringing a broom and a garbage scoop.

"I'll replace it," Darren replied later.

"With what, you trashy son-in-law! If it wasn't for Renata being pregnant, I never would have had a son-in-law like this! Yuck!" Gia shouted again while spitting out her irritation.

Because she heard the noise in the early morning, Renata couldn't help but come out of her room.

"What's wrong? Why are you bringing up Rena's name?" asked Renata with her eyes half closed, and she immediately widened her eyes when she saw the broken flower vases scattered around.

"What a useless husband you are, breaking your favorite flower vase so early in the morning! And I'm sure he did it on purpose! He must be annoyed because he has to do homework every morning!" Gia replied later.

"Oh my, you can't work in peace and quiet. Never mind, mom, it's just a vase that makes noise and disturbs people's sleep. I'll buy another one later," Renata replied and left the place and went back to her room.

Darren still chose to remain silent; he and Bi Asih continued to clean up the mess for fear of hurting others who passed by.

Already, bi, let me finish it," Darren said to bi Asih.

"Yes, bi! Let this useless man clean it up. He has to take responsibility. He's become a pest in this house, and he's always making a mess. I don't know what we did wrong to have this trashy son-in-law!" Gia shouted again.

Meanwhile, Martano was just like Renata; he didn't care and left the place quietly. He left it all to his wife, as the vase belonged to her.

"You have to replace it by deducting five months of your salary!" Gia decided.

"But, Ma...." replied Darren, who was shocked to hear the decision from his mother-in-law.
