“The weak will always be trampled upon.” Those words echoed in Nathan's mind.
He was on the floor. Almost as good as lifeless.
On the screen was a healing elixir. Only one.
He had no choice. He'd definitely die if the vampire king gets another hit on him.
The strength had weakened. It's like a battery that runs down when excessively used.
He took the elixir and drank half of it's content.
He was healed instantly. No scratch, sprain or broken bones.
“Man! I should have drank little of that.” He muttered to himself.
“That was impressive. So you're a magician?” The vampire king was curious.
Nathan swings his fist to land a punch on the vampire's jaw, but the king doesn't flight. Not even a blink. He smiles, slow and his fairly opened mouth reveals his fangs that are too sharp.
Then he hits back.
It's just a strike with the back of his hand but Nathan found himself coughing.
“Damn!” He exclaimed as he remembered he forgot to pick a skill.
There's still so much he needs to learn from this new system.
He quickly pressed the skill button and picked all three of them..
SYSTEM: [Skill: Agility]
[Skill: Strength]
[Skill: Speed]
“You thought you were the predator now, didn’t you?” the vampire murmurs mockingly. “You thought taking me down would be that easy?” He bursted into laughter.
His fingers extends long and sharp. He threw them to grab Nathan by the neck, but Nathan was gone from his presence within a blink of an eye.
The vampire didn't fail to express his shock. He was dumbfounded by how Nathan amounted with such speed in a short time.
“So...You are really a magician?” He accused Nathan.
Nathan spits at him. It hits the vampire’s cheek and sizzles slightly before sliding off.
The vampire frowns. Inhaling it and dilating.
“You are not the only fast one in the room anymore.” Nathan teased. Clenching his fist for a real fight.
Although, the system bestow him with the skills he used. He noticed he had to be in control for them to function.
Even though, he wasn't well skilled in fighting, at least he knows how to throw some few punches.
“Let me remind you that you're in my territory, so you're just a talking food.” The vampire snapped his fingers and minor vampires trooped in.
The vampire smiles at Nathan. A mischievous smile that reveals his vicious intentions.
“So human. Tell me how you'll win against us now?”
Nathan smirks. “That's not the right question, the right question is how strong are you?”
The vampire king squints.
“You see, I'm tired of people calling me useless. Meaningless. Poor...Weak.” Nathan gnashed. “I'm tired of letting go of everything like it's my duty to.” He pulls two guns from the system's store.
“I'm tired of listen to everyone.” “Paw!!!” The bullet rest directly into the chest of a vampire and he fall to the ground.
“I will rewrite my own destiny.” He pulls another trigger to kill another.
They rushed at him, but he was fast and accurate in his shots.
The vampire king was at their end. He was searching for an open spot while his servants distracted him.
His once mischievous smile had faded to a stern.
Nathan never gave the chance to his servants to even get closer.
The vampire king finally saw that Nathan was distracted with his servants rushing at him.
He thought he finally had his moment.
In a swift move, he launched a punch at Nathan.
Shocking, Nathan blocked the punch with his guns. One of them fell off.
Yet again Nathan had bewildered the vampire king with his unexpected move.
“You have good powers I'll give you that. But you won't win. No one that has come here has ever won me in a battle. They might put up a tough fight, but in the end, they get turned into vampires.” The vampire bragged.
“Paw!!!” The last gunshot was the loudest. Nathan has just finished off the servant vampires.
“We'll see about that.” Nathan replied and reloaded his gun before running towards vampire in a swift attack.
Their fight was intense. Each of them landing a blow on each other.
They were swift like lightning, hands hitting hard like rock. The vampire king finally found his match. But he was least happy about it.
He grabs Nathan by the front of his shirt and yanks him up, slamming him against the brick wall.
Nathan's head cracked against it, breaking the bricks. He blinks one eyes closed and smiles weirdly?
The vampire king squints unable to get why Nathan laughs.
Nathan pulls out a knife from the air and stabs the vampire in his stomach.
He groaned letting go while they both fell to the ground.
SYSTEM UPDATE: [Agility skill terminated. Prone to injuries.]
“Fuck!” Nathan yelled.
The vampire king laughs. “Do you think a mere blade could do the job?”
He pulls out the blade from his stomach and threw it away. His injury closes like it was never there.
Nathan groans. Hearing the vampire's voice annoys him that much.
His gun still had few bullets in it. But they were no longer with him. One laid on the floor and another on the bed.
He targeted the one closest to him and went for it while the vampire attacked him to make sure he doesn't get it.
Nathan succeeded in getting it, but not without getting an injury from the vampire.
He landed on the bed, his blood from his shoulder soaking fast in the white covers and staining it red.
He turns, shooting the vampire twice. The vampire transforms into a bat escaping the bullet.
He aims to shoot again, but the bullet in the pistol was finished.
He looks at the second gun and it's far.
He gulped. Fear gripping him. He holds his shoulder.
The wound is a deep cut. If only he had agility, he would have prevented such severe hurt.
The vampire transforms back to humanlike and stands on the bed.
Once more he smiles wickedly. “You see, you are just another weak human after all.”

Twenty: Unending Dune
Evening came slowly over the dunes, the way it always did in a place with no mercy left to give. The sky bled from gold to a deep, bruised orange, and then to a purple so dark it looked like the color of a wound. Nathan lay half-buried in the sand, watching that color spread across the horizon, and for a moment it was almost beautiful enough to make him forget where he was. Almost. He didn't know how long ago the portal had taken him. He remembered the serpents, the screaming, Dan's voice telling him to run before the ground had simply opened beneath him and swallowed him whole. There had been no light this time, no gentle blue glow easing him through. Just darkness, and falling, and then heat — a heat so absolute it had felt like breathing fire before his eyes had even adjusted to the endless gold-brown of the dunes stretching in every direction. The forest had been hell, but at least the forest had shade. At least it had sound — the rustle of leaves, the distant calls of birds, so
Nineteen: The Battle In The Raid
The battle had turned into a nightmare none of them could have prepared for.The giant serpent creatures came from every direction at once, their massive bodies gliding through the trees like living shadows, silent one moment and lethal the next. Every time the hunters thought they had cornered one, another would appear behind them, fangs bared, as if the forest itself had turned against them. Screams echoed through the trees. Blood soaked into the dirt. Slowly, inevitably, the Savage Hunters were losing ground.Elena gritted her teeth and swung her sword at a serpent's arm, the blade biting deep enough to force the monster into a hissing retreat."Behind you!" Dan shouted. She ducked on instinct, and a claw sliced through the empty air where her head had been a heartbeat earlier. Not everyone was so lucky. One of the other hunters cried out as a serpent's tail coiled around his body and hauled him screaming into the darkness between the trees. His screams lasted only a few seconds
Eighteen: The System's Deadly Task
Nathan tumbled through the shimmering rift, the invisible portal spitting him out like discarded refuse. The system had taken him into it's belly once he activated 'proceed task'.He hit the scorching sand with a thud, rolling several meters before skidding to a halt. The air burns mercilessly hot like furnace, baking his skin instantly.Sands clung to his sweaty face. "What the hell?" he gasped, pushing himself up on trembling arms. His head hurt from the fall, and the world seem to spin in a haze of golden dunes stretching endlessly under a blinding sun. No trees, no buildings, just waves of heat-distorted horizon. It was a desert, one that seems to have no end.SYSTEM NOTIFICATION[Task: Survive the eternal sands and claim Oasis core. Failure to perform inflict great fatigue.]“This is more like a punishment than a task.” Nathan complained. He blinked hard, swiping out the sands off his faceThe words materialized in his vision like augmented reality overlays, glowing blue and
Seventeen: Tough Beast
The hunters stood at alert. Their hands tightening upon their rifles, blade and other weapons they had brought for the mission.Their eyes were focused in the thick greens as they waited for the next attack. The hunters were certain that the snake creature was going to return. They could even hear creepy sounds too.The sounds seemed to be coming from all angles, making them confused, if they were more than one snake creature.Shadows pooled in hollows between the roots, and faint trails of mist clung to the low spots which gave hint at unseen streams or bogs nearby. Still yet, that wasn't enough to detect the creature. In fact, it only confused the hunters the more. The undergrowth was a chaotic labyrinth filled with ferns unfurled like emerald feathers at every step, thorny brambles snagged at boots. Many of the Savage hunters complained how this was only their first raid and wished to abandon it.If only they had a second chance right this moment, they'll reject whatever money was
Sixteen: The Weird Portal
They entered a large forest and the energy was in different level. Most hunters confirmed that it was mixed with both high and low energy. The hunters couldn't quite tell what demons they were going to encounter, but Nathan's system has given him a hint.[Portal of five creatures: The drastic wolves, Giant scorpions, Serpent- man, Devil bees and ghost ants].Nathan gulped. From their names, he could imagine what they were. The drastic wolves, he imagined them as rigorous wolves who would stop at nothing but to tear open their enemy. For the giant scorpion, he hope not to encounter such a creature. The smaller ones alone are enough to creep out a person, but a giant scorpion is dreadful. The name serpent-man got him puzzled for a moment. Is he a half man half snake, or his a man with snakes? He thought about it.Devil bees sounded like a killer name and ghost ants was totally unimaginable.A reminder of his fatigue appeared on the screen. He groans and ignores it. But he won't be able
Fifteen: Strange
The portal appeared all of a sudden, right in the center of the stadium. Reports from journalists stated that, a match was ongoing before the portal's appearance. Few footballers got stuck inside the portal eventually. They were four of them precisely. Nathan saw the hunters he had seen earlier at the Bureau still around at the premises. They had not gone into the portal. He thought some action should have began. Some other stranger hunters from different organizations were also present. A lot of them. They all seem to be engaged in an argument. Their murmurs revealed complains, detest and anger. Nathan looked around for Jeremy but could not find him nearby. Instead, he finds Elena beside him like a bodyguard. There's no point in asking her what she wants because she'll probably say: to protect him. And if he asked her to let him be, she'll probably say she has to repay back his favour first. Such a strange lady. He thought. “Hey! What is going on here?" He asked a person close by.
