Those who submitted themselves before Don after the bell stopped were punished. Nathan and Malik were lucky to escape.
The defaulters were prohibited from going on the raid. For that they owed Don money.
Everything seemed new to Nathan. Although, one thing he grabbed was that they are rules under Don's building. Failure to abide might just increase the debt you owe him.
It was too early to ask questions, but he was too curious to ignore it.
He patted Malik by his side and whispered, “What is going on?”
“Shh! Don will brief us about it.” He replied in whispers.
“Listen y'all! Today's raid is going to be quite different. Our victims are wrapped in the skins of humans. However, they possess red eyes and once shot once, they transform.”
Nathan gulped on hearing this information. Fear gripped him immediately.
He could feel sweat tripping from his skin.
So, the enemy isn't even human? He asked himself.
A second thought crossed his mind. Should he forfeit this mission?
He'd probably be beaten like the others and even owe more debt.
No...He can't afford that.
He heaved a sigh of relief and stood still.
Whatever it was, he's going to face it. This is the only price he has to pay to repay his debt. The only price he has to pay to live again.
“Do not forget the rules. No kill no escape.” Don said finally. His eyes distinctively looking at Nathan. He scoffed in mockery as he detected the fear in his eyes.
Don walked towards the wall just at the back of his seat. There was enough space between his seat and the wall.
He took out a key from his medallion necklace and inserted it in the center of the wall.
A portal opened.
It shone with beams of light. A blue color.
“God be with you.” Don prayed as they go in.
Everyone picked a weapon from Don's desk before going in.
Nathan was the last to go in. He hesitated.
This was his first time of seeing a magic portal, he didn't even have idea that such existed.
“Do you want to go make some money or you're going to keep standing there until the portal closes?” Don barked and took a cigarette into his mouth.
Nathan's hand trembled as he reached for an old pistol from Don's table.
“Make sure you kill an enemy else you'll be trapped there, okay?” Don warned and lit his cigarette to smoke.
Nathan walked into the portal. The lights where blinding that he stretched his hand to shield the light. For 10 seconds, he was walking through the portal.
SYSTEM REPORT:
[Portal: C Rank. Vampires Hotel]
[Description: Poisonous fangs that turn victims to vampire. They possess speed and sharp fingers that dig upon the skin. Their eyes are crimson red]
[Mission: Kill vampire leader.]
[Weakness: Their heart]
As he walked out of the portal, he is surprised to see himself in a room. Well polished and furnished.
It was a fansy apartment. Top-notch.
“It's a hotel room.” Malik cut his stare.
Nathan looked in his hand and saw a little kit.
“How did this get here?” he asked.
“It's our tool box, we'll be needing it for this mission.” Malik replied.
“Where are the others?” Nathan noticed that they were gone.
“Well...they weren't willing to wait for you.” Malik confessed with his eyes closed and his hand itching his head.
“How about the screen above our head?” Nathan asked.
“Screen...” Malik paused, looking surprised. For the first time he didn't rush to reply.
He looked above his head and then above Nathan's, but saw nothing.
“Are you okay Nathan?” He asked to be sure that he hasn't tripped in the portal when coming.
“I'm fine. And I know I can see a system update right above my head.” Nathan still argued.
“Now I'm certain you tripped because...”
A loud groaned sounded from out the door, cutting Malik off his words.
He quickly put his kit upon the bed and opened it.
They were three silver bullets in it.
He took the silver bullets and loaded his gun and beckoned on Nathan to do the same.
As Nathan was loading his gun, a knock disrupted him. His gun fell on the floor along with the kit.
He bend down to pick it while the knocker opens the door herself.
From her bloody red pupil, you could tell she was a vampire. Even her lips had the stain of fleshly tasted blood.
Her hands held upon a veiled meal while she disguised as a waitress.
“We didn't order for food.” Malik stated while watching her keenly. His gun was hiding at his back where he wanted it to.
She giggled and said, “The hotel is giving free meals tonight.”
Something felt off. The groan before her appearance. Opening the door without even being told . Her giggle. Malik noted them all.
His eyes and ears are sharp to detect any strange sound or sudden movement.
It's his third raid so far. He has learned that quiet attentiveness is a tangible tool to a hunter.
She tries to step closer but then Malik yelled a 'stop!' revealing his gun at her.
She paused, frowning at him.
“Open the meal!” He commanded, maintaining his gun at her. He stole a look at Nathan quickly.
Nathan was still battling to load his bullets.
“You petty humans think you can just come here and take over our hotel?"
“Shut up and open it!” He yelled at her.
She rolled her eyes and opened the presumed meal. It was the head of one of the hunters that had gone to raid with them.
“OMG!” Nathan falls to the ground, devastated by the ugly look of the chop off head. He threw up immediately.
Malik wasted no time pulling his trigger at her numerous times, exhausting his bullets.
She wasn't hit however. In fact, she was now behind him.
Her hands gripped his neck, while she emitted a maniac laugh.
