He was going to jump off the building the day Elsosa met him on the roof.

He had made up his mind to have no reason to live.

But then, he found a new purpose of living, thanks to her.

She had hidden him in the house without out the knowledge of her parents.

She even stole her father's money, so he could complete highschool as she had fallen in love with him.

It's been two years since he completed high school and eventually four years since Elsosa has been hiding her under her father's roof.

Eventually, Mr. Edgar figured them out and chased Nathan out of the house.

Elsosa made a trantrum at her father's decision and left with Nathan.

Nathan got a job few weeks later, where he fend for a little apartment. But, it didn't last more than two months before he was fired.

His boss accused him of seducing his clients.

It was a stupid excuse to get him kicked out.

After he lost his first job, he was unable to get another.

Despite all his applications.

Employers insisted that he had a university degree at least.

Elsosa told him about Don. A partner to her father.

Don had workers without legal qualifications or degrees. She thought he could be their sanctuary, so she handed his number to Nathan.

And that was when Don told him about the job.

A job where he can make Nathan rich, if he was willing to pay the price.

--

"Damnit!" Nathan yelled, hitting the bottle of beer on the table.

"Hey! Keep it down." A man closed to him yelled.

Nathan hissed. No apologies.

Everything around him seemed to irritate him.

He was in a bar.

The lights of the bar were dim. A single bulb casting a yellow light on the center.

The smell of vodka filled the air.

"Another bottle!" Nathan yells at the bartender.

"You're not the only one in my bar you know?" The bartender cautioned, mixing the drink.

He walked up to Nathan's table. "You have to pay for the previous one first."

Nathan snaps a daring look at him, snatching the bottle from him.

"Goodness! What an ass hole." The bartender cussed. Looks at Nathan disgustingly and stretched his hand for money.

Nathan deepened his hand into his pockets and brought out money from them.

He hands over the notes to the bartender and continues with his drink.

The bartender counts the money, glancing at him at every country.

"You're one dollar short." He pulls Nathan's attention.

Nathan raised his gaze, "that's all I have." He snapped angrily.

"What!" The bartender furrowed. "Are you kidding me right now?"

He grabs the beer in Nathan's hand and they began to drag for it.

"It's just a dollar, why can't you let go of that?" Nathan grinds.

"You broke ass. It's just a dollar. Why don't you have that little amount of money?" The bartender retorted.

At last, after what felt like a minute, the bartender pulls the beer away from Nathan. But the bottle slips, smashing on the floor with the entire drink spilling.

The bartender gnashing his teeth. His fist folded tight.

"Hey! Who wants to beat an annoying pup?" He throws the question to the air.

Two men pulled back from their chairs and walked up to the bartender.

One of them was the man cautioning Nathan to keep quiet earlier.

"That's him." The bartender pointed to Nathan. "He owes me a dollar and wastes my drink."

Without wasting anymore seconds, the men turned Nathan into a punching bag.

They dragged him out of the bar after they had left him with few injuries.

Nathan laid in front of the bar. He laid flat with his face on the ground.

His injured body hurts badly that he could barely help himself.

It began raining unfortunately.

The rain intensifies, drumming harder against Nathan's body.

He stands upon his fit. He has to move else he'll catch a fever.

As he walks in the cascading waters.

The memories of his past echoed in his mind.

Not even the rain could take the pain away.

Being rejected by his father over some woman and her son. He grinds his teeth and stops.

"I'll show them. I'll show them all." The words left his mouth.

I made a fist.

"I'm all alone now." He spoke to himself as though reality had dawn on him.

Perhaps, reality had truly dawn on him.

There was only one thing he had in mind now and he's not going to hold back anymore.

Somewhere down the street, where the rats creaks and the dead smell of sewage rests.

A place where the shadows hide and smells of cigarettes sputters to life.

Prostitutes known as bitches usually hung on the wall, waiting for men to sway to their demise.

It was quite raining for anyone to be out.

Nathan however, walked down the street.

He went into a bar that had it's lights on.

As he walks in, the door that closes behind him rings a bell.

His whole body was drenched with water dripping down to the floor.

"Hey! Why'd you bring your drenched body in here? Did you drown or something..."

Everyone in the bar laughed at the bartender's words. Nathan never cared less.

"Where is Don?" He asked with a bloody eyes shot at the bartender.

His words were thick, like one who was in rage.

A door opens close to the bartender. A huge man walks out.

He is wearing a hoodie and black googles on.

"Come!" He beckons to Nathan.

Nathan gulped, but hide his fears.

As Nathan walks pass the bartender, the man stares at him with distain.

The water from his clothes had left a mess of the floor.

"This is it." Nathan says to himself.

It's either he is killed by Don immediately after entering or he'll have to hear what he had to say first.

Either way, Don will be doing him a favor to end his misery.

A misery that has lasted a long time in his life.
