CHAPTER 9 — “THE HUNTER ARRIVES”

The mansion went dark without warning.

One second, every chandelier and lights were illuminating the house . The next, the entire estate dropped into absolute blackness, as if someone had pressed a switch .

“ Noah !!Noah !!Noah !!” Tara called out from the other hallway but he ignored , he was calculating his next move, Was this what the card warned him about ? he was wondering .

“ Where is that bastard !Go and check with the security what’s going on “ He heard Tara’s father call out but he still ignored .

Noah froze on his chair , his hand stroking his chin .

His body was shaking , he wasn’t actually scared but he felt like something was going down tonight and it was because he felt it.

Silas Vulton was here.

The hunter had come.

Noah slipped a hand into his pocket and pressed the card flat against his palm. It vibrated once.

“HOSTILE BREACH CONFIRMED.”

“ So he came ….” Noah opened his room door and stepped out .

In the darkness, there was scream tore through the second floor.

“ I just saw someone!! Someone is in the house!” One of the house helps screamed.

. Footsteps followed, like people were running around trying to find light , they panicked, stumblin Tara’s father shouted orders, bumping into furniture, tripping over rugs, yelling for someone to call security.

“ Where is Noah ? Noah !”

Security wasn’t coming.

Silas had already taken care of them.

Noah moved quickly bmaking sure to avoid the windows. He ducked behind a pillar and peered into the long hallway. A faint red laser scanned across the walls. .

He’s mapping the house.

Silas wasn’t here to intimidate.

He was here to extract the card… and eliminate every witness.

“ I am the witness, so he is here to eliminate me …”

Noah slipped into the study and shut the door without locking it. Locking it would make noise. Instead, he crouched behind the large desk and whispered:

“Card, hide protocol.”

A tiny pulse. Then there was nothing, no electricity.

The device in his hand dissolved into a thin, metallic sheen that sank into the lining of his glove, completely invisible.

“ Perfect.”

Noah stood and looked around the room, his mind racing. He had walked these halls long enough to know the mansion’s weaknesses better than any intruder. Silas was stronger, trained, and backed by one of the Mega 7 families, he was just …controlled by a system

But Noah had something Silas didn’t.

He had the card.

He pressed his fingers to the edge of the desk. “Override surveillance. Show me where he is.”

The study window flickered, turning into a translucent digital screen only visible from inside. A heat map bloomed across the mansion layout.

There, near the staircase.

A tall figure wearing tactical gear moved with quiet precision. Silas avoided every squeaky floorboard. Every blind spot, he was moving like he was trained for this . .

Noah grimaced. “He’s good, But not untouchable.”

He watched Silas approach the hidden door that led to the basement. The intruder paused for a second, it was long enough for Noah to act, that was his cue.

“Activate trap lock,” Noah whispered.

The house clicked.

The basement door sealed shut behind Silas, locking him inside.

Noah exhaled slowly. “Round one… mine, it’s my turn now !”

But the victory lasted barely five seconds and even before he even acted . .

A loud crash came from below, a metal door being torn off its hinges, it sounded like it was being smashed.

“He’s breaking out?”

Before Noah could react, the card flashed violently against his palm.

“COMBAT PROTOCOL ONLINE.”

“What—?”

A cold wave rushed through his veins. His vision sharpened. His hearing was amplified. Every muscle was feeling like there was energy shocked inside of it .

“ What the fuck is happening!” .

This wasn’t adrenaline, This was augmentation.

The study door blew open and Silas entered the room and Noah jacked up. His mask covered his entire face except for the eyes, if the card didn’t alert him before the break and entry , he wouldn’t have suspected him , it was a perfect disguise. .

“Hand over the card, and you won’t suffer.”

Noah’s mind responded before his body did.

“What card ?”

“ Don’t try to act stupid with me , i know you are with it..”

“ I am nothing but a loser ….Like you already said , i don’t know what you are talking about “

“ That’s enough reason for you to have the card …Maybe after teaching you a lesson , your memory will come back”

Silas threw the first blow . .

Noah moved faster than he ever had in his life. He dropped to the floor just in time, the intruder’s blade slicing through the air above him. Noah rolled, grabbed a chair, and swung it. Silas blocked it with one forearm, snapping the wood in two.

The fight was brutal, it metal against strength, speSilas moved like a machine, Ordinarily he would have been beaten up and bruised by Silas

But Noah wasn’t the same man he’d been yesterday.

The card guided him, subtle pulses directing his timing , when to punch , when to kick , when to dodge , Silas was already bleeding but there was no sign of blood on Noah .

He ducked.

Then Silas grabbed him by the collar and slammed him into the wall but Noah pushed him back faster and he summersaulted

“You’re stronger than you should be,” Silas growled. “Interesting.”“I’m full of surprises.”

He drove his knee into Silas’s ribs.

“ Arghhhhh!!” Silas screamed in pained but Noah was having a time of his life .

They crashed into the study shelves, books scattering everywhere. Silas raised his knife again, but Noah deflected it with a desk lamp.

This time, Noah gained the upper hand, he pinned Silas against the wall, his forearm pressed against the agent’s throat.

“Tell your employers I’m not running anymore,” Noah hissed.

Silas’s lips curled in a smile.

“You think the Lewis family is your enemy?” he whispered. “They’re nothing.”

Noah froze and that made Silas escaped , he climbed the window and before jumping down , he said .

“The ones who killed your parents…”

“…are watching you right now.”
