A sharp pain stabbed through Johann's shoulder as the stun baton hit him. His body convulsed, and the faint smell of burning flesh wafted from his cheap janitor uniform. The security guards grabbed his collar roughly, dragging him across the cold marble hallway. Johann tried to fight back, but his legs felt like boneless rubber. His vision blurred, but the golden system on his retina only flickered brighter.

"Dammit, that's too expensive for a burn!" Johann hissed hoarsely. He refused to die on this disgusting corporate office floor. With his remaining strength, he pressed the buy option in his vision. Instantly, a warm sensation spread through his nerves. The burn on his shoulder closed rapidly, and new energy pumped through his heart.
Johann didn't wait. He swung his leg toward the knee of the guard holding him. A bone-cracking sound followed, accompanied by a scream of pain that shattered the building's silence. He broke free from their grip and ran as fast as he could toward the emergency elevator.
Behind him, Viktor's roar echoed, commanding his troops to kill anyone who tried to escape.
"Catch him! Don't let that rat leave this building with the stolen data!" Viktor screamed.
Johann didn't care about the data anymore. He just wanted to live. He pressed the elevator button, but it was jammed. He kicked the elevator door until it broke off its rails, then plunged into the dark abyss below. His body slid down the steel cable, his hands badly chafed, but he managed to land on the ground floor with a heavy thud.
He ran out toward the dimly lit underground parking lot. He was panting heavily, cold sweat mixed with office dust clinging to his skin. Suddenly, a woman's body blocked his path. Johann almost collided with her, but she moved with inhumanly fast reflexes. Before Johann could react, he was slammed onto the hood of a parked black car.
"Who are you?" the woman asked.
She wore a tight black leather suit that accentuated her deadly curves. Her hair was tied in a ponytail, and her eyes were sharp as razors. That was Freya Schneider. She was crouching, aiming the muzzle of a magical pistol at Johann's head.
"Help! I don't have time for a surprise date!" Johann screamed in panic.
Freya let out a short laugh, her voice sounding melodic yet full of danger. "A date? You just jumped from the fiftieth floor like an idiot. Who exactly are you? Viktor's hired agent?"
"I'm just a janitor! I just want to go home!" Johann tried to get up, but Freya pinned his chest down with a sharp-heeled boot.
"A janitor? A janitor who sets off every security sensor in the building and drains a whole sector's backup power?" Freya brought her face closer. The sharp scent of expensive perfume and the metallic aroma of weapons wafted over, making Johann's heart race uncontrollably. "There's something strange about you, babe."
Before Johann could answer, the sound of an explosion echoed from the elevator. Viktor's elite squad emerged with long-barreled weapons emitting a purple aura. They didn't hesitate. A barrage of magical bullets rained down where they stood.
Freya leaped back, pulling Johann with her until they were trapped behind a concrete pillar. "Damn it! They're not playing around. What did you actually steal from them?"
"I didn't steal anything! I just have these weird notifications in my eyes!" Johann answered hysterically.

Johann stared at Freya, who was preparing to return fire. This woman was stunningly beautiful, even on the brink of death. There was a strange spark of passion in the midst of this gunfight. Johann pressed the buy button in his system.
A transparent golden dome expanded with a ten-meter radius, protecting them from the barrage of magical bullets that hit and exploded into beautiful yet harmless fireworks. Viktor's soldiers froze at the sight of the shield.
"What the hell is that?" Freya stared at Johann with wide eyes. "That's no ordinary magic. That's the power of pure money."
Johann panted, his balance steadily decreasing, but he felt incredibly powerful. He looked intensely at Freya. "Freya, right? I don't know how to explain it, but I have enough money to buy half this city. And right now, I need your protection!"
Freya looked at the balance appearing on a small screen on her wrist—she could see what Johann saw. Her eyes went perfectly round. She slowly lowered her weapon, a thin, wild smile curling on her lips.
"Ten billion dollars?" Freya whispered, her voice now sounding very soft and seductive. "Turns out you're no office rat, babe. You're a walking jackpot."
Freya suddenly grabbed Johann's collar, pulling him close until their noses touched. Her warm breath brushed against his face. Amidst the whiz of bullets hitting their golden shield, the atmosphere felt incredibly heated. Johann felt hypnotized by her gaze.
"If you really have that much money," Freya whispered right into his ear, "then from this second on, I'm your personal bodyguard. But remember, every bullet I fire is going to cost you a fortune."
"Anything for you," Johann replied with short breaths.
"Good," Freya gave Johann a brief peck on the cheek, a move that made him freeze in the middle of the battlefield. "Now, buy two military-grade assault rifles from your system, and let's make old man Viktor go completely bankrupt before he can fire you permanently."
Johann felt madness take over his soul. He pressed the buy button with fingers trembling from adrenaline. Advanced weapons began to materialize in the air, glowing golden, ready for them both to use to destroy anything that dared stand in their way.
However, as Johann went to grab the rifle, Viktor's deep laughter echoed throughout the parking garage, shaking the concrete foundation beneath their feet.
"So it's you, Johann Keller," Viktor's voice sounded as if it came from every corner of the room. "You think you can use the system's money against me? You don't even know what kind of stain you were actually cleaning off that office floor."
The wall in front of them began to crack, and a giant shadow creature started crawling out from the concrete crevices, absorbing the golden light from Johann's shield with terrifying speed. Johann's balance began to plummet automatically; tens of millions of dollars vanished in seconds to maintain the shield against the creature's pressure.
"Freya, the shield is starting to weaken!" Johann shouted.
Freya glanced at the transparent screen, her face turning pale as she saw the balance figures dropping insanely fast. "Johann, we have to get out of here right now or we're going to go completely bankrupt and die poor!"

First Confrontation with Viktor
Freya was stunned. Her heart hammered so hard it felt suffocating. The man at the peak of the dome had the face of the Johann she loved, but his gaze was empty, as cold as ice untouched by the sun. Behind the seal of light imprisoning the real Johann, the man struggled. The face of the true Johann looked full of pain and longing, a contrast that made Freya want to blow everything up immediately."Johann!" Freya screamed. Her voice was hoarse, breaking with overflowing emotion. She didn't care about the fake figure up there. Her focus was only on her lover locked within the energy prison. The fake Johann tilted his head. He showed no signs of recognition. Instead, he raised his hand, and the air around Freya suddenly thickened. The pressure was so intense that Freya's knees hit the ground."He is no longer yours," the man's voice rang out, but there was a strange echo accompanying it, as if a thousand other voices were speaking through his vocal cords.Viktor Reinhardt emerged from beh
The Ritual of Money and Magic
The man stepped out of the forest's darkness with a calm yet threatening stride. He was Elias, Johann’s former colleague from the logistics department who had been declared dead in an elevator accident three months ago. His face was deathly pale, with prominent purple veins bulging around his temples. He no longer looked like the man who used to share his lunch with Johann. Now, he wore a tattered corporate supervisor's uniform and was surrounded by a hissing aura of energy."Elias? How is this possible?" Johann shouted, his eyes widening. His heart pounded so hard it felt painful behind his ribs. He gripped Freya’s hand tighter until his knuckles turned white.Elias only gave a thin smile. The smile felt wrong because there was no joy in it. He flicked his fingers, and the horde behind him—consisting of mutated former janitorial staff—began to move forward with horrifying, jerky movements. "This world never truly allows someone to leave easily, Johann. They took my soul and turned it
Operation Rescue Freya
The grinder roared like a starving beast. Johann twisted his body in mid-air, his scarred hands clutching the sharp iron along the corridor walls. A loud thud echoed as his boots hit the steel surface, but he didn't stop. He climbed upward, refusing to become mincemeat inside the company's torture device. He gasped for air, the smell of oil and hot iron brutally assaulting his senses."Dammit! I’m not going to die in this giant washing machine!" he shouted, kicking one of the grinder blades until it dented.Suddenly, the thunder of a helicopter split the air above the building. The sound of giant rotors ripped through the concrete roof, sending a rain of debris into the engine room. Johann looked up, his eyes narrowing against the swirling dust. A rope ladder dangled down from the belly of a helicopter that looked luxurious yet was riddled with bullet holes. At the end of that ladder, Freya hung on with one hand, her face burning with rage. She fired her pistol at the guard drones try
Bloody Board Meeting
Johann and Freya plummeted into a darkness that felt cold and sharp as a razor. The wind roared in their ears. They fell in an embrace, with Freya wrapping her arms around Johann's neck to ensure they weren't separated. Johann closed his eyes tight. He felt as if he were being sucked into an endless drain of reality.Suddenly, a violent jolt sent them slamming onto a hard marble floor. Johann groaned as his back felt like it was about to break. He rolled to the side and found himself in the middle of a vast room. Pale blue neon lights glowed on the walls. This was the board of directors' meeting room in the Reinhardt Corp building. Johann recognized this luxury carpet. The faint scent of the floor cleaner he used to use still lingered in the corners of the room."Get up, Johann!" Freya was already standing in a defensive position. She checked her weapon, but her face soured. "My gun is dead. The magic in this place is completely suppressed."Johann stood up unsteadily. He straightened
Intense Night at a Five-Star Hotel
"Do not press that button," the voice echoed again, this time feeling like an ancient vibration crawling up from the base of Johann's spine.Johann was transfixed. His fingertip hovered a few millimeters from the surface of the blue-glowing credit card. In front of him, the Auditor woman took a step back. Her once-cold face turned deathly pale. She no longer cared about Freya lying on the floor; her attention was fixed on something behind Johann's shoulder."Who are you?" Johann asked again. His voice cracked, filled with deep anxiety. Before the mysterious voice could answer, the bullet from the sniper in the building across the street erupted. The sound broke the silence of the night like a giant whip. Johann didn't have time to dodge. However, instead of piercing his flesh, the bullet stopped in mid-air right in front of his face, locked within a transparent energy bubble he had never seen before."Too slow," whispered a heavy voice.Johann turned his head. Attack on the Tiny Apartment
Johann frowned. He stood up with great difficulty, his bones feeling as if they had just been struck by a sledgehammer. Beside him, Freya remains on high alert, her hand instinctively searching for a weapon that had already run out of ammo. Johann's cramped apartment was now nothing more than ruins of broken concrete. Thick dust danced under the beam of the flashlights held by those strangers in black suits."Who are you?" Johann asked hoarsely. He tried to stand tall even though his body was still trembling from the side effects of the ancient artifact. "And what do you mean by the first test?"The woman in the sunglasses did not answer immediately. She signaled with her hand, and two of her subordinates moved forward with the precision of a machine. They did not attack.Instead, they began picking up the remaining debris of corporate magic scattered across the floor. Their movements were systematic, efficient, and highly professional."We are the Auditors," the woman replied briefly
