He turned and walked back to Elena.

The villa was quiet except for the rustle of papers spread across the dining table. James leaned back in his chair, studying the documents one final time while Elena paced behind him, her arms crossed.

"Are you sure about this?" she asked, her voice soft but weighted with concern.

James didn't look up immediately. His fingers traced the edge of a bank statement showing Simon's mounting debts. "I've never been more sure of anything."

"It's her wedding day tomorrow." Elena stopped pacing and turned to face him. "Once you do this, there's no taking it back."
