It was 5:10 P.M. Tuesday, and Rebecca’s impatience started to kick in. She had responded to a text that Jane had sent her earlier in the day, telling her to meet her by the old dried-up maple tree at 5:00 P.M. after lectures were through. “Hey, sorry I’m late! Pretty please?” Surprised by Jane’s request, Rebecca started to think “How did you even find out about us in the first place?” “It’s a rumor, nobody knows for sure, they just said someone saw you leaving from his house and your hair looked messed up. I will just tell them that I checked with you and it was all just a rumor, a misunderstanding.” “Ugh!! Fine! But if we get caught, this was all your idea.. and you have to promise that I get to plan our next cheerleading routine.” Rebecca folds her arms and huffs. “Yes, yes, yes! Whatever you want.” Jane responded out of desperation “Yay! Let’s go, I got so much more to tell you.” Rebecca said from excitement Jane and Rebecca happily made their way home, excitement filled them like goosebumps from a first kiss on thigh skin. Though, amidst the excitement; caution and curiosity sparked queries and assessment on the soccer field between Oscar and Dane. “Do you think Jerome is gonna pull through for us captain?” Oscar asked, his face covered in doubts and uncertainty Heavily depressed and detached from reality, Dane simply sighed and said. “Oscar, my brother, to be honest with you? I don’t know for real; he has skills, but he’s a bit of a show off. You will just have to stay strong in his assist, you and Damian, plus there’s the rest of the team. We got a strong defense, but a weak offense can cost us every match just the same.” “Well you’re right, I do think he needs extra focus. You think we’re gonna make coach proud tomorrow?” Oscar asks again, never noticing the weight that lingered within his teammate’s mind. Dane threw his bag over his shoulder, got up, and said… “Wherever the Sun is setting, there is a new day. We’ve got a big day ahead of us, let’s get plenty of rest tonight. The girls are responsible for Daniel for now.” His voice soft and as subtle as bee walking on its keeper’s palm. “Aight Cap’n, you’re the man.” Oscar leaped off the bench, stretched, and too threw his bag and shoe over his shoulder. They both left the soccer field in a soft Aura, as if nothing was for certain, but nothing was too far fetched.
