" I don't understand this at all. According to what you told us,we were instructed to return back with the flag which was located around the mountain. This means that the team or the person from a team who returns with the flag would be the winner and not the other team. I returned here early with the flag which means my team won and not the other team."

" We need an explanation for this Sir. I brought the flag which means my team should be awarded the required points and not the other team." Richard said with anger and confusion spitting from his eyes.

" I know that this announcement will look strange both to the two teams because it's clear from your activities the team that should be declared the winner under normal circumstances should be Team A because Richard was the only one that returned back here with the flag but the rationale behind this stage cut across accomplishing and winning this stage."

" I'm sure that before you started this stage, I told you that at the end of the day, the Team with the highest points would be declared the winner and would be given the privilege to work for the Brown empire. To achieve this, team work is needed which your team failed to adapt to. The injury sustained by Ken was a deliberate one as a trap was set to know your reactions. You, Richard went ahead without knowing what will happen to your team while Team B who fell into a trap together assisted one another till they reach here with Ven putting Olivia on his back." Mr.Steff explained,he loves planning oblivious operations.

" We didn't know that it was a deliberate trap. What was on our mind was only to achieve the desired objective. Thank you Sir for taking your time to explain this to us " Ken said he had no issue with the team that won after Mr. Steff as explained it to them.

" Good,we plan training assessment with another motive in mind. It is up to you to find out the reason behind it because special unit reasoning as to be different from an ordinary person working for Brown Hotel. Expect more of this till the end of the training." He said and left after passing the information that they should assemble in the hall in the evening.

" You people should not think it's the end. winning through such petty trick should not be considered a win and you all know that. This might be the only one you're going to win,so cherish it as I won't go easy on you people in the ones to come." Richard said and left before they could answer him.

It was really annoying to him that with all what he went through trying to accomplish the task given, such petty slack that has to do with team work made his team lose to the other team who would have given up on ever winning that stage.

" Leave him alone, it's expected from everybody in his shoes. You know it will look like he was cheated because of the trouble he went through trying to retrieve the flag only to hear that the other team won without accomplishing the required task." Ven said holding Ken who wanted to draw Richard back when he angrily left the scene.

Later in the evening, they assembled in the hall for the next mission for the day. They all understand that the assessment is far beyond what they envisage and need to give their best to win the offer to join the special unit.

" This evening, we're going to assess your combat skills as required by the company. The reason for this is that you might accompany any of the Brown family or even go on a mission that will require you people to utilize your combat skills to accomplish the mission."

" Note that the first person to go down lose and not the rate of the attack on each other. So, what you should pay attention to is how to make the person you're fighting with to loose his or her balance and fall down."

" The team with the highest which means with two win wins and will be awarded the necessary points required. This means that a win has to do with winning with the person you're matched with. The first participant is Olivia and Joy, followed by Ken and Daniella then Ven and Richard." Mr.Steff said after which he called on"Joy" and " Olivia " to start.

Olivia attacked aggressively when they started, as she believe that is the only way to strip Joy of her balance. She didn't really know about combat and so believe attacking fiercely will take Joy off guard and will make her fall.

Joy had some combat skills and understand that if she does not watch out well, Olivia will take her down with the forward movement she's doing and directly aiming at her leg so she believe waiting and thrusting at her weak point is the best.

Olivia not satisfied with the outcome of her plan grapped Joy hair to weaken her stand and make her fall. Joy resisted and then grapped Olivia hand twisted it and use her leg to sweep her off her feet and Olivia unable to maintain her stand fell down. Joy won for her group giving them some points over Group B.

The next participants Ken and Daniella came out to display their own. They're both injured making it a fair one. The lucky one would be the first person to utilize the opportunity to fall the other person down since they were both injured on the leg.

Ken attacked her underestimating her not knowing that she's skillful fighter. She used her left leg to step on his injured leg and when she saw him trying to bear the pain she moved closer and pushed him down since he was bigger than her.

This win from Daniella rekindled the spirit in Ven who had thought there's no hope for them any longer and thus prepared for his own with Richard.

Richard was happy when they paired him with Ven as he had been looking for who to release his anger on since his team lose in the morning and after finding out he was fighting with Ven and not the ladies,he became happy.

For him, this battle was not only about winning but about beating him as he's ready to apply everything possible to do so while Ven thought is all about winning this stage also.

When they started, Richard rushed at Ven while the latter was trying everything possible to defend and dodge the blows while trying to look at the best spot to hit Richard, the former was not relenting and rather than calming down was increasingly the rate at which he's attacking.

He was pissed at the fact that Ven was not retaliating but trying to block his attack. He observed that with the way Ven was blocking showed that he's a better fighter than him and would easily overpower him and will most likely loose.

He then opted to do something that will enrage Ven rather than looking for way to fall him down which was likely impossible.

He was attacking fiercely and Ven who was getting tired of blocking decided to release his hand only for Richard to punch him in the nose when the opportunity came making Ven nose to bleed.

This act actually enraged Ven who understand that Richard was only after body harm and not pulling him down. He then also started to attack Richard back since he couldn't quite understand why he would be interested in harming him.

He started and since Richard was not really good in blocking, the punch Ven was throwing at him was hitting him really bad than expected with Ven not backing down but rather increasing it. Mr.Steff saw this and tried to stop them but was unable to and Ven only stopped when he gave Richard the last punch and Richard fainted...

  • CHAPTER EIGHTY FOUR: Henry's discovery

Henry had never been one for family dinners, much less the kind where smiles were served as appetizers and betrayal was the main and essence. So when he heard through the kind of murmured office gossip that he usually ignored, that Kate had invited Davis to a private meeting over dinner, he didn’t react outwardly. Kate and Davis in the same room, alone. That was rare. It is rarely a good sign and obviously a beginning of a dangerous coalition.Henry was a Brown by blood but not by the same fire as the others. Davis thrived on dominance. Victory on calculated force. Kate on tactical charm and disrupting. Henry had built his own path quietly, keeping a reputation for being uninvolved, which suited him perfectly. In business, being underestimated was an advantage personally, while in family politics, it was a survival tactic. But lately, the air around the Brown Empire had shifted. The first attack on Davis and Victory had been an obvious escalation. Whoever had arranged it was either

  • CHAPTER EIGHTY THREE: A new Alliance

Victory was stretched out on the leather sofa across the room, jacket thrown over the armrest, tie loosened. • CHAPTER EIGHTY ONE: Chess Board or a player

The silence in her office was unnerving. Not the usual kind that came when her staff had gone home and the tower’s corridors emptied for the night, but the heavy, watchful silence that felt like it was listening. She had done it exactly as they’d asked. Ensure that there was no noise, no spectacle, just a clean, bloodless cut. • CHAPTER EIGHTY: The Invitation

The rain had been steady all evening, falling against the cracked skylights of the old warehouse. Each drop seemed to mark a quiet, relentless ticking that told Ven the night was getting older, and the game was getting tighter. He stood at the head of the long table, sleeves rolled up, hands braced on the spread of documents and maps beneath him. Every visible inch of the table was covered: Brown Empire’s branching subsidiaries, holdings across four continents, the personal networks of Davis, Victory, Kate, and Henry. There were photographs with corners curling from repeated handling, red marker lines marking the empire’s skeleton, and thin black threads connecting names to events like a hunter’s trap web.He had built this map gradually with the sole intent on how to fully take over the Empire. Every connection was earned with risk. Every pin placed with purpose. And yet tonight, too many new lines were appearing without his hand touching the pen.Bryan entered, moving like a shadow
