FIFTEEN YEARS LATER

Kelvin, average in height, fair in complexion and physically built and strong now work as a security guard at a company called Vite in a City far away from Kandon known as Krumb. This job he had to take just to take care of himself and his adopted son Ven as he had to change the boy surname to that of his own to protect him as he knew those who masterminded the murder of Ven's parents would still be on the lookout to eliminate him.

In the evening when kelvin got home after a hectic day at work, he met Ven sleeping on the couch calmly. He looked at him for a while lovingly before he went in to prepare their dinner for both of them to eat. Even though,he was not his biological father, the love he has for Ven is something else even to his surprise. People will never believe he's not his father because they somehow look like only that Ven is taller than him this he got from Alex.

After the cooking,he went to wake Ven to eat dinner. He tapped him and as if he had been waiting all along for him, stood up immediately and sat down with kelvin to eat rice as dinner.

"How was today's class and I think you made mention of you people commencing your exam soon?" Kelvin asked Ven as he is happy that even with their condition Ven is making him proud in school and his mind went to his parents. How they would have been happy if they were alive to see what their son is achieving.

" Today's class was interesting and great, the lecturer lectured us with a different method today. whenever he observes that we the students are getting tired or distracted,he would crack jokes to draw everybody back to what he's saying unlike that Professor Daniel who throughout his class with us last week was just warning and reminding us that he can fail anybody he want". Ven said to Alex that was his normal thing to do as his father remains his only gist partner apart from his friend Alex and he does not hide anything from him.

"Our exam is commencing next week and l don't know why I feel so nervous maybe because of the way they are portraying it", he said to Kelvin with a tone of anxiety.

"What are they saying?" Kelvin asked him worriedly.

" Most of them are making it sound as if our destiny lies in their hands with the way they act in class and this is making me nervous, Ven said.

" Don't worry everything will be fine, they just want you people to know the reason why you're in school they can't do anything bad since they also have conscience, Kelvin assured Ven".

" Okay Dad, hearing you say that has given me a kind of assurance, I love you daddy". Ven said lovingly to Kelvin. He so much loves his father so much.

"If you don't love me, who are you going to love?" Kelvin asked teasingly

" Nobody". Ven said and they both bursted out laughing at his remark. They then continued eating, after they finished eating,Ven packed the plates to the kitchen and they went to sleep as they both had places to go the next day.

.......

On the day of the misfortune which led to the death of Ven's father and mother, after kelvin fled away from the scene with Ven, he was running and without observing and paying attention to where he's going,as he continued running fell down on the way and since Ven was in his arms, they both started rolling on the floor till the wind carrying them halted and they met themselves somewhere in a plain land.

As they landed,Ven hit his head on a rock just as Kelvin released him to rest a little as he was tired already. Kelvin after he saw that Ven fainted, carried him again and started running with ten year old Ven in his arms oblivious of where he's going but ended up on the main road by luck.

Kelvin continued to signal to cars to wait and just have pity on the child and take them to the hospital as he did not have any money on him. All the cars he was trying to stop just drove off without stopping. It was a car that later stopped and asked to be taking to the hospital to treat Ven who he called his son. It was then he knew that indeed he was a new land far away from Kandon.

The good Samaritan out of pity took them to the hospital, and even paid for Ven medical fee before he left them at the hospital.

When Ven woke up and saw Kelvin,he was just shouting"Dad",Dad". Kelvin was perplexed as to the situation of things. The doctor reading this on his face then had to explain what it was all about. He explained that Ven is suffering from memory loss. He then advised him to take care of him well that he will regain his memory in due time. After spending couple of days at the hospital, he was discharged and the journey on how to survive in the strange land they found themselves started.

He and Ven slept outside for a week at any place they see convenient for them in the night and every morning they will continue walking around begging for food and money. Eventually they met that good Samaritan who rescued them and took them to the hospital. They met him whose name they later found out to be Mr park at the gate of a company called Vite.

The man was surprised to see them looking haggard and dirty and asked them to come closer to him.. He asked them what they are doing there and Kelvin answered that they were strangers in this city and therefore were looking for a place to rest their head and he was also looking for a job.

The man asked him what he was capable of doing and he said he was a trained bodyguard and could therefore serve as a security man, an answer to which the man smiled to. He then instructed Kelvin to resume work the following Monday to start as the security guard to the company.

The man was based in Kandon and just established the company at Krumb. This made it easy for him to hand over the security guard job to kelvin.

The man also gave them a whooping sum of money to be used to secure a place for shelter. Kelvin could not thank the man enough as he was crying and surprised that how could someone who didn't know him from Adam be so generous as to do this kind of things. He could only repeat thank you as much as possible till the man left.

Kelvin started the work and even enrolled Ven in a high school where he was to continue his schooling. And through loyalty to the man and diligence, he was able to maintain the job.

Ven secured his scholarship towards his last year in high school when he went for a competition and since in the whole of Krumb,he emerged with the first position ,he was designated for scholarship to Achiever's university.

" Ven go inside and sleep as I can see that you're tired"Kelvin said as he noticed that he was already dozing on his chair. He too was also tired as his work is also highly demanding.

" Ok Dad, goodnight and sweet dreams" Ven said and left to his room to sleep as he was leaving the house the next morning early.

" And you too" Kelvin said and watched him open his door and entered.

Just as he was also preparing to leave for his room, his phone rang with a strange number showing. He decided not to pick it as since that night,he has been trying to be cautious as he knew that those people could still be looking for Ven to kill him as they did to his parents.

But since the caller was unrelenting and the call could wake Ven up as he's a light sleeper,he opted to pick it.

" Hello, who am I speaking to?" He asked and tried to lower his voice to the lowest level because of Ven.

" Longest time"....................

The world outside the warehouse erupted in flashing lights and deafening sirens as Kand, Geli, Haynes, and Henry were dragged out in handcuffs. The media, tipped off beforehand, swarmed like vultures, cameras capturing every second of the once untouchable shadows being paraded into waiting armored vans. Their faces, pale and furious, would dominate every news outlet for days to come.Ven walked out slowly behind them, escorted by officers who had cut him free. His shirt was torn, his face bruised, but his back was straight, his head held high.Just beyond the police barricade stood Alex, flanked by Bryan and Daniella. Alex’s expression was grim as he watched his father being shoved into a police vehicle. Haynes caught his son’s eyes one last time, a look of pure betrayal etched across his features.''You… Haynes spat, voice hoarse with fury. ''You betrayed your own blood!''Alex’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t flinch. ''No, he said quietly, more to himself than to his father. ''I chose

  • CHAPTER 186: Exposed

Ven didn’t know why he agreed to come. Alex’s request had seemed innocent enough remembering how he said it “Come with me to see my father. He’s been asking to meet you again. Maybe this is a way to clear the past, to show him you’re not holding grudges anymore.'' Ven had hesitated. He had met Haynes once before, back in their university days when he visited Alex. Haynes had been polite then, overly polite perhaps, the kind of man whose smile never reached his eyes. Ven never thought much of it at the time. But now, as Alex drove them through the outskirts of the city, he couldn’t shake a growing unease. Still, he went along. Maybe it was to prove to himself he could let go of old wounds. Maybe it was to strengthen his friendship with Alex, who had finally apologized and seemed genuine about reconciling. The car slowed as they neared a gated estate tucked deep into a wooded area. High walls loomed around them like watchful sentinels. “Almost there,” Alex said, shooting Ven a qu

The atmosphere in Henry Brown’s office was as pristine as always, matching his aura. Behind the large desk sat Henry, reviewing a thick stack of documents, his glasses perched neatly on the bridge of his nose. He exuded the calm, composed demeanor of a man who had mastered the art of appearances. The double doors to his office swung open abruptly without a knock.Henry glanced up, catching a glimpse at the interruption. The sight of Ven storming in, his expression thunderous, made him lean back slightly in his chair. He hadn’t seen this raw, unfiltered intensity from his nephew since the shareholder’s meeting.“Ven,” Henry said smoothly, removing his glasses and setting them aside. “What brings the new Chairman to my humble office? Finally here to consult your uncle for advice?”Ven ignored the pleasantry and strode directly to the desk, his hands slamming flat on the polished wood with a sharp thud. “Cut the act, Uncle,” he growled. “We need to talk about my father.”Henry’s brows a

The air inside the Correctional Facility was thick with the stench of various sweat, a constant reminder of where ambition without restraint led. He had dressed simply today, no three piece suit, no signs of wealth or the power he now wielded as Chairman. He just put on black turtleneck and jacket. But even stripped of the trappings of his position, Ven’s presence carried an undeniable weight, a quiet intensity that made even hardened inmates glance at him with wary curiosity as he passed. The guard stopped before a reinforced door with a small, grimy glass panel. “He’s inside,” the guard muttered. “Fifteen minutes. That’s all you get.”Ven didn’t reply. He stepped through the door into a small visiting room with a single table positioned for formality. Victory Brown sat on the other side, dressed in an orange jumpsuit, his once immaculate appearance reduced to unshaven facial appearance and sunken eyes. He looked up as Ven entered, a smirk tugging weakly at his lips.“Well, Victory

The three men who are the faceless figures who had manipulated the Brown Empire for decades sat down for another meeting,as Ven is far becoming a thorn in their flesh. To the world, they were titans of influence in separate domains. In reality, they were the silent architects of chaos. The first anonymous Kand, President of Kand Media Group and Davis father-in-law,leaned back in his chair, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the armrest. His sharp suit and meticulously combed silver hair gave him the appearance of a respectable businessman, but his eyes were cold, calculating. His media empire had the power to destroy reputations overnight,a tool he had wielded ruthlessly for years. The second anonymous, Geli Farrow, a seasoned politician whose career spanned decades, sat with a sly smile playing on his lips. His influence stretched across legislative halls, law enforcement, and regulatory bodies. He was the puppeteer behind many of the legal maneuvers that had crippled opponents of

Now, the data sprawled across their screens in a series of project files, financial logs, and most damning of all the recordings.“Play that one again,” Ven said, voice low but edged with a deadly calm.Daniella clicked on the file labeled "Operative Coordination Priority." A video began to play, but with clear audio. Davis’s voice filled the room, masked with urgency:“This has to be handled cleanly. If the shareholders lose faith in me, we lose the Brown Empire to that bastard.”Another voice responded, deep and unidentifiable, as though passed through a modulator: “You were given what you needed, from trying to eliminate him to convincing shareholders and voting for you. The only way is for you to eliminate him..."Ven’s hands tightened into fists on the table. He forced himself to stay composed, but Bryan, seated beside him, saw the flare of fury in his eyes.“T
