Thayer went to the bank. Everyone stared at him with disgust because he looked like a thug.
“I want to withdraw ten million dollars,” Thayer said hurriedly.
The female staff couldn’t hold back her laughter. “I’m sorry, Sir. Are you sure about that?”
“Don’t waste my time. Just do what I said,” Thayer snapped sharply.
“I should be the one saying that to you,” Selina sneered. “It’s impossible for someone like you to have that much money.”
“Why are you so sure that I don’t?” Thayer’s eyes turned red with anger.
“Even a blind man can see that you’re just a homeless guy.”
Thayer clenched his fists tightly. He had had enough of insults for one day.
He quickly checked his pockets, but his wallet was missing.
“Damn it! Where’s my wallet?” He looked around the floor, thinking it might have fallen.
Selina rolled her eyes, bored with what she thought was a scammer’s drama. “I won’t fall for your cheap tricks. Please leave while I’m still being kind enough not to call the police.”
“Just give me the money already!” Thayer said through gritted teeth. “My assistant called your manager and confirmed that I’d be withdrawing it today. He already approved it!”
“Nonsense. Neither you nor your so-called assistant could ever have my manager’s number.”
Suddenly, every staff member stood up when the bank owner entered the hall. They all bowed respectfully. Only Thayer didn’t move.
“You finally showed up,” Thayer said coldly.
“Why do you look so angry, Sir?” asked Bryan, the middle-aged man with a frown.
Selina froze. It was the first time she had ever seen the bank owner being polite to a poor man. Bryan was known for being arrogant and never showing respect to anyone below him.
Thayer looked at Selina, who was now trembling in place. “Your staff just insulted me. She refused to release my money.”
Bryan’s face darkened immediately. “Is that true!?”
“I—it’s not true, Sir. I didn’t insult him. I just—”
“Do we need to check the CCTV?” Thayer challenged.
Selina’s voice broke. She couldn’t argue. “Please forgive me, Sir. I was only doing my job.”
Slap!
“You think I pay you to humiliate my clients?” Bryan shouted angrily. “You almost made me go bankrupt! What if he withdrew all his shares?”
Selina burst into tears, crying hysterically.
“You’re fired! Don’t ever show your face here again.” Bryan turned to Thayer with a respectful smile. “Please, come with me, Sir. I’ll take you to the vault.”
Thayer nodded slightly and followed Bryan. The manager soon handed him three suitcases.
Thayer accepted them without a word of thanks. “Keep my identity secret from everyone. If any of you leak it, I’ll destroy your business.”
“Of course, General.”
“I’ll be taking more money tomorrow. Prepare it in advance.”
“We’ll do anything you ask, General,” Bryan said, bowing deeply.
Thayer left immediately and returned to the Lennox mansion, where the entire family was still gathered in the living room.
He threw the suitcases at the old man’s feet, shocking everyone.
“There’s the money. Now you won’t have to lose anything for covering the expenses of my wife, my daughter, and my in-laws.”
“How did you get that money?” Ivy gasped in disbelief.
Jonas and Samara were speechless.
“We’re not that easy to fool, Thayer,” Kane said casually. “You’re not leaving until we check what’s inside.”
“Go ahead,” Thayer said, lifting his chin.
“Dominic, open those cases and make sure this loser didn’t bring us empty bags or counterfeit bills!” Irene ordered her son.
Dominic did as told. He opened all three suitcases in front of everyone and checked carefully. The entire family waited tensely for his response.
“They’re all real, Dad.”
The Lennox family was stunned.
“Are you satisfied now?” Thayer’s anger still hadn’t cooled down. “Now you have no reason to stop me from taking my family. Let’s go, everyone.”
Vivian and Theodore stood frozen, unable to believe what they had just witnessed. How could that loser get so much money in just a few hours?
“Wait a second.”
Thayer turned toward Hendrix, his eyes sharp. “What is it? Not enough money?”
“Where did you steal it from, huh?” Samara sneered.
At first, the family had been impressed and curious. But after hearing that, their expressions changed instantly.
They were convinced Thayer must have stolen it. After all, he had no relatives who could lend him that kind of money.
“That’s none of your business. What matters is, I’ve paid my debts.”
The room fell silent.
Thayer left the mansion with his family and hailed a taxi. He had no choice but to take them to Abner’s house, the one he used to live in before being deployed.
“Are you serious we’re going to live in this shack?” Vivian scoffed, looking disgusted at the small house surrounded by flower gardens.
“Mom, please appreciate what Thayer has done. He worked hard to give us a place to stay.”
“Shut up! I don’t need your advice! This is all your fault! Our lives wouldn’t be miserable if you hadn’t married this bastard!” Vivian yelled, storming out of the taxi.
“If the police come after you for robbery, don’t drag us into it. Got it?” Theodore said coldly before following his wife out.
Thayer exhaled heavily.
Arabella held his hand gently. “Please forgive my parents.”
Thayer gave her a soft smile. “It’s not a problem.”
The next morning, they had only toast for breakfast. Arabella was busy in the kitchen, toasting the bread.
“Is this all we have? Trash food like this?” Vivian grumbled, while Theodore sat with no appetite.
“Grandma, Grandpa, but it’s really tasty. Please eat some,” Melody said sweetly, her cheeks blushing.
“You eat it yourself,” Vivian said coldly, then went back to her room.
Arabella pouted sadly.
“I’m sorry, Dad. But I promise I’ll find a job today so we can live comfortably again.”
“Do whatever you want,” Theodore muttered, ignoring her as he grabbed a slice of toast and walked off.
Arabella sighed tiredly, but she had to stay strong for her daughter. She needed to help Thayer support the family.
After breakfast, Arabella got ready, putting on a black blazer and a knee-length skirt before heading out to look for a job. She went from one company to another, but none of them accepted her.
The reason was simple: everyone knew her as the useless daughter of the Lennox family.
By the time she left the eighteenth office, she was exhausted. As she stepped outside, she bumped into someone.
“Spencer?”
“What are you doing here, Miss?” Spencer asked with a friendly smile.
“I’m looking for a job.”
“A job?” Spencer pretended to be surprised. “Aren’t you supposed to be living a luxurious life as a Lennox?”
“Grandfather kicked me out,” Arabella said softly, lowering her head.
“I’m sorry to hear that.” Spencer put on a sympathetic face, though he was secretly smirking. He was the real reason she and her family were thrown out. He had promised Hendrix a partnership deal with the General if Thayer and his family were kicked out of the mansion.
Now, this was the perfect chance to take away Thayer’s last bit of happiness after that bastard had humiliated him at the General’s event.
“I can help you.”
“Really?” Arabella’s eyes brightened with hope.
“Come to my apartment this evening, unit 405. I’ll give you the job contract.”
Arabella nodded eagerly, completely unaware of his hidden intentions.

“You don’t have to worry, Mom. We’ll be free soon.”“Nonsense! Do you think Spencer will let us go just like that after you beat him to a pulp?”“You’re truly pathetic, Thayer! Why did you even come back?” Theo cursed angrily.“Dad, stop blaming Thayer. It wasn’t entirely his fault.”“How dare you still defend this bastard!” Vivian snapped furiously.“Thayer was only trying to protect me, because Spencer slandered me and ruined my reputation in public.”Vivian’s anger exploded. “You idiot! You should be grateful if Spencer touched you! That means we could have been rich again!”Silence fell. Thayer could faintly hear Arabella sobbing.Thayer clenched his fists. “Arabella is not a whore. Stop blaming her!”“Shut up! No one’s talking to you! You should be ashamed of yourself! None of this would have happened if you were rich!”Suddenly, the door swung open, letting light pour into the dark room. His smile was so wide it almost reached his eyes.“I came to fight one of the God of War’s men,” Spencer declared, chin lifted.“I know. Abner called me.”“Has my opponent arrived?” Spencer scanned the room coldly.“He’s right behind you.”Spencer turned instinctively when he heard the voice. “You?” He was a bit stunned. “Did Abner send the wrong person?” Spencer taunted.“Why? Are you scared?” Thayer replied coolly. His eyes smoldered with hatred.“Scared?” Spencer’s laugh echoed. “What would I be afraid of facing a low-ranked soldier like you?”Spencer stripped off his expensive tuxedo, revealing the taut muscles und

"Investigate what Arabella did yesterday." Thayer ordered, sitting in his desk chair."Did something happen, General?" Abner noticed Thayer had been sullen since last night."Just carry out my order," Thayer snapped."Alright." Abner left the room, but his steps halted when his phone buzzed. Thayer touched Stella’s trembling shoulder. “Don’t worry. I was your grandfather’s soldier. I was with him when he took his last breath.”Stella’s eyes widened. Tears streamed down her face. She missed her grandfather so much. If Morris were still alive, his family, the Colsons, would never dare to kick her out.“It’s late. You should go home. I’ll take you there.” Thayer guided Stella to a taxi and escorted her to her apartment.Thayer froze at the sight of Stella’s shabby apartment, even though Morris had left a massive inheritance for his children, grandchildren, and in-laws.“You’re right. I am the granddaughter of former General Morris Colson,” Stella admitted as they arrived at her apartment door. She lowered her head sadly, remembering the beautiful moments with her grandfather.“I know General Morris left a lot behind. Why are you living in this rundown apartment?”“My family seized all of Grandfather’s wealth, leaving nothing for me or my own family,” Stella explained. “That’

Abner entered the mansion sales agency. Everyone bowed respectfully as he passed by.“Can I help you, Sir?” The blonde woman smiled politely at Abner, purposely unbuttoning the top of her shirt to show off her cleavage.“I want to buy a mansion,” Abner said flatly, completely uninterested in her attempt to seduce him.The woman quickly showed him several mansion photos. “All of these are located in strategic, private, and beautiful areas.”Abner glanced at them, took a few pictures, and sent them to Thayer.[Buy the most expensive one. It has more advantages.]“So, which one do you want, Sir?”“I’ll take this one.” Abner pulled out Thayer’s black card and handed it over. The metallic clink made the woman’s eyes light up. If Abner was this rich, the General must be even wealthier.“I’ll take you there to check the property myself,” the woman offered eagerly.“That won’t be necessary. The owner will come to see it personally later.”“You mean…” Katy hesitated.“Yes. The General will com
