As Daniel stepped outside, what he saw was a chilling sight. The town appeared even more haunting. The buildings stood as silent witnesses to the passage of time, their broken windows and crumbling facades telling tales of abandonment and decay.

A sense of urgency gnawed at Daniel, making him even more worried. He needed to find out what had happened to the town and locate Holly as fast as possible.

Walking through the streets, Daniel couldn't help but notice the lifeless bodies scattered along the way. They were in various stages of decomposition, their vacant eyes staring into nothingness. The putrid stench of death was heavy in the air, adding to the eerie atmosphere.

His heart pounded in his chest as he approached the house where he had left Holly. The rain intensified, lashing against his face as he frantically searched for any signs of life. The storm mirrored his turmoil, its violence matching the growing dread within him. His clothes were drenched, clinging to his body.

He banged on the door, calling out Holly's name.
"Holly! Hey, Holly! Answer me, Holly!"

But there was no response, only an agonizing silence.

Fear gripped Daniel’s heart as he turned the doorknob and stepped inside. The house was empty, with no trace of Holly or Marshall’s family. It was as if they had vanished into thin air.

Anger and desperation welled up inside him. Feeling alone again, Daniel set his mind on finding Holly. He wouldn’t let anyone else die, not like back then.

He retraced his steps to the entrance of the town, recalling where he had buried his rifle. Fighting against the rain, mud clinging to his hands, Daniel dug through the earth until he finally retrieved the gun. With the rifle in hand, he resumed his search, his senses heightened by the danger he could feel creeping closer.

The rain poured relentlessly, blurring his vision, but he pushed on. The dim glow of the streetlights struggled against the darkness, casting eerie shadows that danced and twisted with the wind.

Daniel’s footsteps echoed through the deserted streets. It was so quiet that he could hear every drop of rain hitting the ground.

He stopped, broke a car window, and quickly hotwired it. As the engine roared to life, he drove through the rain-soaked town, lost in his thoughts.

Shadows moved in the corner of his eyes, but the rain and the night worked against him. He couldn't see anything clearly. Suddenly, a dead body slammed onto the windshield.

The tires locked up, sliding helplessly on the wet, gripless road. The car shook violently.

Daniel's grip tightened on the steering wheel as he fought to regain control, but it was too late. Desperate, he swerved off the road and crashed into a pharmacy.

The impact jarred his body, pain shooting through his injured leg. Disoriented and battered, Daniel cursed under his breath as the rain continued to pour, pounding against the battered remains of the car.

Breathing heavily, he yelled, "I'm really tired of this shit!"

He knew whatever lurked in the dark would be drawn to the crash site. Ignoring the pain, he unbuckled his seatbelt, ready to face whatever was waiting for him outside.

Stepping into the rain-soaked darkness, his grip tightened around the rifle, fueled by the need to find Holly.

Raindrops cascaded down his face, mixing with sweat and tears, as he moved cautiously through the wreckage-strewn streets. The shattered windows of buildings whispered as the wind howled through the broken panes.

Every shadow seemed to hide a lurking threat. Every flicker of movement made his heart skip a beat.

Daniel’s senses were on high alert, his body trembling with adrenaline. He knew he had to stay focused, to trust his instincts if he wanted to survive.

As he ventured deeper into the heart of the town, the sense of foreboding grew stronger. The streets became narrower, the buildings more decayed, like the town itself was rotting into a graveyard of forgotten souls.

His mind raced with questions.
"What the hell happened to this place? Where did the people go? Where is Holly?" he shouted into the empty streets.

Through the rain, he caught a glimpse of flickering lights up ahead. Hope flared in his chest.

Could it be a sign of life?

Daniel quickened his pace.

As he got closer, the flickering lights revealed themselves to be candles illuminating the inside of an ancient-looking church.

But something was wrong.

The candles outside the building didn’t move in the direction of the wind, and they weren’t being put out by the rain.

"What the... how’s that even possible?" Daniel thought.

The sound of soft chanting floated on the air, drawing him toward the building.

He cautiously pushed open the heavy wooden doors and stepped inside, soaked to the bone, dripping water everywhere.

The sight that greeted him was both captivating and unsettling.

The interior of the church was adorned with faded paintings and crumbling statues. Silent figures huddled together in the pews, their faces solemn, their eyes glazed over, pure white, as if trapped in some kind of trance.

A masked man stood at the pulpit, his voice echoing through the sacred space. His words were a mix of ancient incantations and desperate pleas for salvation.

Daniel approached him, skeptical but desperate for answers.

"Excuse me," Daniel called out, his voice barely a whisper.

The man turned slowly. His vacant gaze met Daniel’s, and for a moment, the whole world seemed to stand still.

"They are gone," the man said, his voice a hollow echo. "Taken by the darkness that haunts these streets. Lost to the very essence of evil."

A chill ran down Daniel’s spine.

"And Holly? Have you seen a woman named Holly? She was with me before..." Daniel asked.

The man's eyes flickered with recognition.

"Holly... yes. She crossed my path. But her fate is intertwined with the darkness."

Daniel’s heart pounded harder.

"Well great," he muttered. "He’s speaking gibberish. What does that even mean? This stuff never makes any sense. What did I expect, asking some weird cultist for help?"
