"You’re asking me to turn back?" Vardy finally said, lifting his gaze to meet hers. His voice was calm, as though the uncertainty she felt didn’t touch him at all.

Selene didn’t answer immediately. Her fingers fidgeted with the edge of her cloak, and her lips pressed into a thin line.

“I’m not asking you to turn back," she said finally, her voice quiet, almost hesitant. "I’m telling you that it’s not worth it. The island will change you. I’ve seen it happen before. It twists your mind. It breaks you, Vardy. Even if you survive, you might never come back the same."

Vardy didn’t speak for a long moment, his mind grappling with her words. He understood the weight of what she was saying.

But Vardy wasn’t like the others who had failed before him. He had trained for years, honed his skills, and built his resolve. No mist, no curse, no twisted vision of the island’s horrors would stop him from reaching his goal.

He wasn’t some mere adventurer chasing after a legendary prize, he was the on

Selene stepped closer, her expression unreadable. "You’re not the only one who feels it," she said, her voice barely audible. "I’ve heard stories of the island being alive in its own way,of the very land sensing when someone approaches, when someone seeks to disturb its cursed peace. We need to be ready for anything." Selene said further, her hands folded.Vardy kept his eyes fixed ahead. The island was more than just a place, it was a living, breathing entity, and whatever power it held, it wasn’t going to give it up easily. The ship started experiencing turbulence, they kept swaying back and forth, all trying to keep the balance of the ship.Suddenly, the whispers returned faintly. The words were unintelligible, yet the sound itself seemed to vibrate through Vardy’s bones, unsettling him in a way he couldn’t explain.Ferah’s eyes widened, and she stepped closer to Vardy. "It’s here," she said, her voice low, strained. "We’re not alone."The mist thickened further, swirling around t

“No…” Vardy whispered, his voice breaking. “I’m not you. I won’t become you.”The creature laughed again, a deep, rumbling sound that filled the entire forest. “Then prove it. Show me that you can stop me, that you can control this power inside you. Or I will take control, and you will be nothing more than a monster.”The world around Vardy seemed to close in, the mist pressing down on him like a weight. The trial was his to face. There was no escaping it now.Meanwhile, Tracy’s battle with the creatures continued. Their relentless attacks were starting to wear on her, but she refused to back down. She had no choice. They had to hold the line, for Vardy, for their mission.Ferah and Selene weren't left out, they battled with different creatures, that weren't dying. As Tracy swung her sword again, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something, or someone was watching them, waiting for the right moment to strike. "Move to the back." Vardy’s voice rang. His eyes locked onto the guardian, its towering form radiating divine energy. Vardy’s undead army, his loyal minions that had followed him across countless lands, were struggling against the overwhelming force of the guardian’s presence. Their unusual strength was nothing compared to that of the guardian, making them struggle alongside Vardy.Tracy, though she wanted to stay and fight beside him, knew better than to argue. Vardy had been the one to lead them this far, and his tactical mind was sharper than anything they could hope to match. She moved quickly, grabbing Ferah’s arm as they retreated to the rear, away from the frontlines where the battle was raging. Her heart pounded in her chest, but it wasn't from fear.Luthor was already positioning himself with his usual flair, ready to charge, his muscles taut under his clothes. But even he seemed unsure of how to approach this fight. They had faced many dangers, but none as relentless and

The group stood still, breathing heavily, their bodies sore. They've had enough already.Vardy’s gaze shifted toward the pedestal where the artifact had been guarded, the ancient object was now within reach.Ferah collapsed into Tracy’s arms, her body trembling from the strain of using her power. Her face was pale, her energy drained completely. “Ferah!” Tracy cried, cradling her head in her lap. “Please, stay with me.”But Ferah could barely respond. Her eyes fluttered weakly, and she gave Tracy a faint, reassuring smile.“I’m... okay...” Ferah muttered faintly.Tracy’s heart clenched, but there was no time for tears now. Selene hurried over to help support Ferah, whispering words of comfort as she checked for signs of any lasting damage. Luthor, meanwhile, moved toward Vardy, his eyes narrowed as he watched him make his way toward the pedestal.Vardy stepped forward, his fingers trembling slightly as he reached out to take the artifact. The moment his hand made contact with the a

“Stay with her,” Tracy said to Selene, her voice low but firm. “I’ll try to get Vardy to focus. We can’t let him slip away too.”Selene didn’t respond, but Tracy saw the faint nod of her head as she continued her work on Ferah. Tracy turned her attention to Vardy again. He was still standing at the bow of the ship, staring out at the water. She walked up to him, careful not to startle him, but when he turned to face her, she could see it. The change was in his eyes. The darkness was beginning to take over, without warning.“Vardy,” she said, her voice a little more insistent now. “You need to talk to me. This... this power is messing with your head, I can see it.”Vardy's jaw tightened, his hands shaking slightly as he gripped the artifact even tighter. He looked at Tracy, his eyes narrowing. “I’m fine. You’re overreacting.”Tracy stepped closer to him, her heart pounding in her chest. “No, Vardy. I’m not overreacting. I know you. “I have to,” Vardy said quietly. “I don’t have a choice.”With that, he turned, already moving toward the edge of the ship. The distant lights of Haven City beckoned to him, and he knew, deep down, that there was no other path for him. Dean had started something, and if Vardy didn’t stop him now, there would be no stopping.“We're all going with you, Vardy.” Selene voiced out all of a sudden.Vardy turned, his gaze fixed on them all, “no… no. I need you to take Ferah to safety.”“Who said I wasn't going too?” Ferah said, though in a low tone but, shocking Vardy.“No way! Ferah please..” Vardy objected, but it seemed like they all planned it and they weren't ready to yield.Vardy heaved darting round, not knowing what to say again.Meanwhile, in Haven City, the destruction continued. The city had descended into chaos. People were trapped in their homes, unable to escape the nightmare that Dean had brought.Dean stood at the heart of the destruction, his arms raised to the sky, comman

Vardy’s mind raced. He knew this was the moment, the one that would determine everything. The fight was inevitable now.Tracy stepped forward, her eyes filled with concern. “Vardy… you’re going to face him, aren’t you uh?”Vardy nodded, his expression hardening. “I don’t have a choice. He’s threatening everything we’ve worked for. The people we’ve rallied… they’ll be crushed if I don’t stop him now.”Tracy reached out, grabbing his arm before he could move. “Be careful. You don’t have to do this alone. I’m coming with you.”Vardy turned toward her, his face softening for a moment. “No. This is something I have to do. You stay here. Keep the people safe.”“No! The undead army he had summoned stood behind him, a silent, grim of soldiers with lifeless eyes and broken bodies, waiting for the command to strike.“Get into formation!” Vardy shouted over the chaos, his voice hoarse from the smoke and noise. “We’ll hold them here, keep the streets clear.”His allies, Selene, Luthor, and the rest of the ragtag group, rushed to take their places. But as they moved, the ground shook again, and Vardy’s senses prickled. Something wasn’t right. The ground beneath his boots seemed to ripple, as though the earth itself was reacting to the immense forces clashing above it. He turned just in time to see a group of Altana charging through the smoke. They moved with military precision, expertly encircling the group."Fall back!" Luthor ordered, his voice tight with panic. "They're too many."Vardy’s undead army began to clash with the mercenaries, the sound of bones snapping and metal clanging echoing in every direction. “Hold your ground!” Vardy barked agai

They said she’d never make it. But now... now, she’s getting better.”Vardy smiled, his heart aching for the boy. “I’m glad we could help,” he said, his voice soft but firm. He reached out, touching Jorin’s messy hair. “Tell me about your family. Where are you from?”Jorin’s eyes brightened even more, and he immediately launched into a story. “We came from the east. My dad used to work for one of the old Altana families, but after they started... doing bad things, he left. We ran, and we didn’t know where to go. We heard about this place, so we came here. And now... now we have a chance.”Vardy listened carefully, intrigued by the boy’s story. He could hear the underlying fear in Jorin’s voice, the y

Her gaze never wavered. Finally, they stopped in front of a tall, crumbling structure that seemed like little more than a forgotten relic. The building was squat, with a heavy, iron door that looked as though it hadn’t been opened in years. It looked abandoned, a place that would be easy to overlook, but Vardy sensed that Elyra had brought him here for a reason.Without a word, she stepped forward and pushed open the heavy door with a creak that echoed.Vardy hesitated for only a moment before following her inside, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword, just in case. The inside of the building was dimly lit. He hadn’t come here to be a leader. But here he was, surrounded by the very people he was fighting for. Their hope, their belief in him, it was overwhelming.“I will fight,” he said, his voice gaining strength as he spoke. “I will fight for every single one of you, for every person who has suffered under the Altanas. But this fight isn’t just mine. It’s ours. We all have a part to play in this revolution. We will rise together, and we will take back what is ours.”The crowd erupted into cheers, their voices echoing through the market square. We’ve come this far, and I’m not backing down now.”Vardy’s gaze softened as he looked at each of them, his friends, his allies. They had been through so much together, and now they were ready to risk everything for this cause.“Thank you,” Vardy said, his voice thick with emotion. “You don’t know how much this means to me.”Selene smiled softly at him. “We’re in this together, Vardy. We bring the right people in and keep them accountable.""That’s a risk in itself," Vardy muttered. "I can’t be everywhere at once, Tracy.
