I sat at my office desk for half an hour when suddenly I heard a knock on the door. “Come in.” I saw Lynn Gold push the door open and walk in.

“Good morning, Mr. Taylor.” Carrying a file, Lynn said to me, “I’ve come to deliver the report you requested.”

So early? I was a little surprised. Yesterday, I told the three of them to compile an overview of their departments' situations and report to me today. However, I did not expect Lynn to deliver the report so early in the morning.

I opened the file. The beginning listed a detailed record on the recent projects and programs of the research department and the risk management department. It was evident that the report was constructed carefully. All of the information was presented clearly, and was easy-to-read. Of course, this was also because Azure Company had just been established. As a company, it had few projects and programs, it was still at the initial stage. The workload of each department had not reached a point of saturation.

“Elaborate. I would love to hear it from you,” I said to Lynn, flipping through the pages.

“Ok, I’ll give a debriefing on the research deapartment first. The research department’s recent work focuses on...” Lynn nodded and began reporting her department's situation.

Konnor, who was sitting cross-legged across from him, quietly listened to him. He held a cigarette between his fingers, and had his usual apathetic expression on his face. Seeing Lucius flare up, he flicked the ash off his cigarette and said softly, “I was against that silly plan of yours from the start. Think about it, a kid appeared out of thin air and became the CEO. He must have a powerful backing. You trying to establish dominance against him on the very first day was foolish. You brought this upon yourself.”

“How could I have known he would be so tough? You think he has a powerful backing? Hehe!” Lucius curled his lips and sneered. “I did an investigation of him a while ago. There is no one named Gael Taylor in the Taylor family! His last name being Taylor was just a coincidence. What’s there to be afraid of? Besides...”

Lucius paused and lit a cigarette for himself. He continued slowly, “Besides, only someone with capability is fit to lead the company. The position of CEO should’ve belonged to Violet. If Violet was the CEO, the position of general manager would be up for grabs. I don’t believe that you, Konnor, don’t harbor any ambitions, am I right?”

Konnor responded with a smile, not saying anything.

“Hmph, always so dull.” Lucius snorted, dissatisfied with the noncommittal answer. “Whatever, I can’t let that kid keep getting away with it," he said impatiently. "Yo, Konnor, tell me straight. Do you want to join forces to overthrow that kid?”

Konnor cocked his brow, and exhaled a breath of smoke. “Just the two of us?”

“Of course not! We will have the support of Violet!” Lucius said coldly, “Violet’s position of CEO had been taken by some kid suddenly. She’s definitely not happy about it! How can we not take care of some kid with her support? We’ll corner him!”

Konnor gave him an enigmatic smile and asked, “Are you sure Violet is supporting you?”

Lucius froze at the question. “Of course! Otherwise, why would she stay silent and watch me pull that stunt in front of that kid? She’s obviously silently approving of my actions!”

"Oh?” With a piercing, icy glow in his eyes, Konnor twiddled with the cigarette in his hand. "However," he continued softly, "I would beg to differ."

“What are you saying? You’re just being cowardly, Konnor. Are you really just going to be like that bitch Lynn and suck up to that new kid?” Lucius was enraged and scowled at him, his breathing coming out in short puffs.

Konnor shook his head. “I just don’t think it’s as simple as you say.” He stood up and patted Lucius on the shoulder. “Based on what happened yesterday, Mr. Taylor doesn’t seem like the type of person that can be pushed around. Here’s a piece of advice, no matter what you do in the future, you must always appear respectful on the surface. This kind of thing can’t be rushed...” With that, Konnor turned around and headed toward the exit of Lucius’s office.

Shocked, Lucius shouted. “What are you doing?”

Konnor waved goodbye and continued walking with his back to Lucius. "Following Mr. Taylor's instructions. I'm going to deliver my report to him."

Lucius peered out at Konnor’s receding figure, unsettled. After a brief moment of reluctance, he chased after him, and caught up to him swiftly. “Ok, ok, we’ll go together then.”

“Have you compiled your report?” Konnor gave him a side-eye.

“This company has just been established. What’s there to compile? I have it all memorized here.” Lucius smirked and pointed toward his head. An insidious light flashed through his eyes. “Report? Hehe, time to see how capable our new CEO Mr. Taylor is!”
