The Demon King who wanted peace

CHAPTER 2: REN WOKE UP AS DEMON KING

I was hit by a truck.

In my last moment, I thought, "Is this it? Is this the end?"

Then everything went dark.

I opened my eyes.

My body felt so heavy. I could not move.

"Why is my body so heavy?" I whispered.

But my voice... it was not my voice. It was deep. Like a monster.

"What? Why does my voice sound like that?" I said.

I looked around. This was not my room. This room was huge. Made of black stone. Red lights were everywhere.

I looked at my hands. They were big. Black claws. Sharp.

I touched my face. I felt horns. Sharp teeth.

"No..." I whispered.

Then the door opened.

A man walked in. He had pale skin and black armor. He bowed.

"My King, are you awake?" he said.

My heart was beating so fast.

"What did you say? King?" I said.

He bowed lower. "Yes, My King."

"Bring me a mirror! Now!" I shouted.

He brought a big mirror. I looked.

And I froze.

A monster was looking back at me. Tall. Horns. Red eyes. Fangs. An ugly, cruel face.

It was me.

I dropped the mirror. It broke into pieces.

"No... no... I became a monster!" I screamed.

The man was shocked. "My King? What happened?"

His name was Vane. I remembered him. From my sister's novel. The only loyal servant of the Demon King.

"Leave me alone! 10 minutes! Please!" I said.

Vane left and closed the door.

I looked at my broken reflection.

"What have I become? I don't know how to rule a kingdom. I will die here."

Then I remembered something. Something terrible.

"The Crown Prince and the 6 Heroes... they will come to kill the Demon King!"

My hands were shaking. I was so scared.

"What will I do? What will I do?"

Then an idea came.

"I will not fight. I will change this kingdom. That is the only way to live."

Just then, Vane knocked.

"My King, the Council is waiting. We need to plan the war against the humans."

I took a deep breath.

"Tell them we will meet in the meeting room. We have many things to change," I said.

In my mind, I thought, 'I will cancel the war.'

NEXT DAY - THE MEETING ROOM

I walked into the meeting room. Everyone became silent. They were all looking down. They were scared of me.

Because before, I was a cruel King. They obeyed me only because they feared me.

When I looked at them, I felt pity. I saw fear in their eyes.

'I will make them respect me, not fear me,' I thought.

I sat on the throne. No one dared to look at my face.

Finally, one general spoke. "My King, what is your plan for the war?"

I stood up.

"Listen to me carefully," I said. "I want to cancel all the wars."

The whole room went silent. Everyone was shocked.

One general shouted, "Cancel the war? How can you say that, My King?"

I looked at him. He got scared and became quiet.

I continued, "No more war. I want only peace."

"If we fight the Crown Prince and the 6 Heroes, we will all die. They are much stronger than us."

"From today, there will be no more war."

"If we want peace, we must start with respect. I will respect you, and you will respect others."

"Are you all agree?"

They were silent. Then, one by one, they started to nod.

Then I said my three new rules:

1. No more war.

2. Respect everyone. Humans and demons are equal.

3. No more killing. Only peace and friendship.

"From today, we will rule differently," I said.

"And... I am sorry. I am sorry I was so cruel to you all before. I did not respect you."

"From today, I will change. You will see. Our kingdom will become a peaceful place. Humans and demons will be friends."

They were all shocked. It was the first time their Demon King ever said sorry.

The meeting was over. They all left the room.

Outside, they were whispering. "What happened to our King? He has changed."

Vane stayed. He looked at me and said, "My King... you are different today."

I was left alone in the meeting room. I looked at the throne.

I whispered, "I will change. I will not die. I will change my fate."
