The morning in Ashenfall was always grey. The sky was grey. The ground was grey. The small huts were grey. Even the people faces were grey because they had not eaten well for many months.

Kael woke up early. He did not sleep in the small broken hut again. He slept in the old ruined castle on the hill. After he killed the three assassins last night, Sir Borne had carried their bodies outside and cleaned the hut. But Kael said he did not want to stay there again. He wanted to see the castle that Darius talked about.

Sir Borne followed him like a shadow. The old knight did not sleep all night. He stood at the door of the castle ruin with his sword in his hand guarding Kael. His eyes were gold and he was not tired at all. Since Kael brought him back he had new strength. He was stronger than when he was young.

Kael stood at the broken wall of the castle and looked down at the village below. He could see about twenty huts made of mud and dry wood. Smoke was coming out small from some huts. People were coming out slow. They were thin. Their clothes were torn. Some children were crying because they were hungry.

For many years Ashenfall was a place where the empire sent people they did not want. Thieves, old soldiers who could not fight again, farmers who lost their land, and now Kael.

Borne said my sovereign do you want me to go and call them. Kael said no. I will go myself.

He started walking down the hill. Borne followed him one step behind. The road was full of dry grass that cut his foot but Kael did not care. As he walked the grass under his foot turned green for a short moment again like last night.

When he reached the first hut an old woman saw him. She shouted in fear. She said the disgraced prince is coming. Everyone run.

People ran out from their huts and looked at him from far. They were scared. They knew Kael was f rank servant class. They knew the empire hated him. They did not want problem.

A young man with a stick came forward. He was the strongest in the village. His name was Joren. He had been a soldier before his leg was injured. He pointed the stick at Kael and said stop there. We do not want trouble from the capital. Go back to your hut.

Kael stopped. He looked at all of them. He saw fear and hunger in their eyes. He saw children hiding behind their mothers. He saw old men who could not stand well.

He did not feel angry. He felt sad. These people were like him. Abandoned.

He said I am not here to bring trouble. I am here to help.

Joren laughed with no joy. He said help. How can you help. You are a servant class like us. You cannot even feed yourself. Last week you were begging old Mara for small soup.

Old Mara was the old woman who shouted before. She looked down with shame.

Kael said that was before. Now things have changed.

Joren said nothing has changed. This land is dead. Nothing grows here. Water is far. The empire gives us no food. We will all die here soon.

Kael looked at the dry ground. He remembered the skill he used last night. Absolute dominion. It could command all lower existence. Did that include the land itself.

He knelt down and put his hand on the dry cracked soil. The villagers watched him with confusion. What was this disgraced prince doing.

Kael closed his eyes. He could feel the land under his hand. The land was sleeping. It was tired and sick for many hundred years. No one cared for it. He spoke in his heart to the land. He said I am your sovereign now. I give you life. Live again.

He used one percent of his infinite mana. It was a small amount for him but for the dead land it was like a big river of water after many years of drought.

A soft gold and black light came from his hand and entered the ground. The light spread fast. It went ten steps. Then twenty steps. Then hundred steps.

The villagers gasped. The cracked soil where Kael put his hand started to change color. From grey it became dark brown. Small green sprouts came out from the soil fast like magic. The dry grass around them stood up and became green.

Joren dropped his stick. He fell to his knees and touched the green grass with shaking hands. He said what is this. What did you do.

Old Mara started to cry. She said grass. Green grass. In Ashenfall. I have not seen green grass here for twenty years.

More people came running. Children touched the green with wonder. The green was spreading more and more. Kael stood up. His face was a bit pale because he used a lot of mana but his eyes were still gold and bright.

He said this land is not dead. It was only sleeping. From today Ashenfall will live again. No one will be hungry again if you follow me.

The villagers looked at each other. Then they looked at Kael. This time their eyes were not fear. It was hope and wonder.

Joren was the first to kneel. He was a soldier before and he knew power when he saw it. He said my prince I am sorry for pointing stick at you before. If you can make our land live again I will follow you. I will be your sword.

One by one all the villagers knelt. Old Mara knelt. Women knelt. Children knelt. They said we will follow you my prince.

Kael felt something warm in his chest. For the first time since he was born people were kneeling to him not because they were forced by empire law but because they wanted to.

At that moment gold words appeared in front of his eyes again.

Quest completed build trust of the village.

Reward second servant slot unlocked. You can now make one more loyal servant.

Population of kingdom one village twenty three people.

New skill unlocked minor growth.

Kael smiled small. He looked at Joren who was still kneeling. Joren leg was bent in a bad way. It was the injury that made him leave the army. He could not walk well.

Kael said Joren stand up.

Joren tried to stand but his bad leg shook.

Kael walked to him and put his hand on his injured leg. He said if you will be my sword then you need a strong leg.

He used absolute dominion again. He said heal and serve.

A warm light entered Joren leg. Joren shouted because he felt his bone moving and fixing itself. The pain was there but it went away fast. His leg that was bent for three years became straight.

Joren stood up straight. He could stand straight. He jumped small. He could jump. He started to cry like a child. He said my leg. My leg is healed. I can walk again.

He looked at Kael and knelt again but this time his head was touching the ground. He said my life is yours my sovereign. Take it.

Kael put his hand on Joren head. He said from today you are not just a villager. You are my second servant.

More gold light entered Joren body. Joren eyes flashed with small gold light like Borne own. He felt new strength in his whole body. He was no longer a normal human. He was now a servant knight of the primordial sovereign.

System message appeared.

Second servant bound Joren the village guardian.

Rank e rank to c rank. Loyalty one hundred percent absolute.

Borne walked forward and looked at Joren. He nodded with respect. He said welcome brother.

Joren nodded back.

Kael looked at the villagers who were still kneeling and watching with mouths open. He said everyone stand up. Today we will not be hungry. Borne and Joren will go to the forest at the edge of Ashenfall. There is water there. And we will bring food.

Old Mara said but my prince the forest is dangerous. There are wolves there. Rank d wolves. We cannot go.

Kael said we are not afraid of wolves again.

He turned and started walking back to the castle on the hill. Borne and Joren followed him. The villagers followed him with their eyes.

When they reached the castle Kael stood at the highest broken tower and looked down at his small green patch in the middle of grey land. It was small now only about hundred steps wide but it would grow.

He said Borne what do you know about the castle secret. The assassins said there is first emperor treasure under it.

Borne frowned. He said my sovereign I served the royal family for forty years. I heard stories. They said the first emperor came from this land. He was not from the capital. He built his first castle here in Ashenfall before he conquered the empire. They said he left his true power here.

Kael eyes became sharp. He said where is the entrance.

Borne said under the castle there is a basement that has been closed for two hundred years. No one could open it because it needs royal blood.

Kael smiled. He had royal blood. He was a prince even if disgraced.

He said we will go there tonight.

At that moment Joren shouted from below the tower. He said my sovereign come and see this.

Kael went down fast. In the middle of the castle yard where there was only dry stone before now there was a small crack in the ground and blue light was coming out from it.

The light was beautiful and cold. It felt old and powerful.

Kael felt his own blood respond to it. His gold ring glowed brighter.

Borne whispered this is it. This is the first emperor power. It is waking up because it felt your blood.

Kael knelt and put his hand into the blue light. The light wrapped around his hand warm

And deep under the ground something big opened its eyes after two hundred years of sleep.
