They all rushed toward the safe.
Morgan was still standing there with the door wide open, her hands trembling as she stared inside the empty compartment.
“The necklace… the necklace is gone!” she cried again.
Jessica stepped forward and looked inside the safe herself. The velvet box that had held the ruby necklace was gone.
Travis frowned slightly and asked slowly, “Does that mean… Marcus really took it?”
Morgan spun around like a raging storm.
“Who else would take it?” she snapped. “That pauper stole it! That shameless thief!”
Her face turned red with anger.
“No wonder he packed his bag and ran away in such a hurry,” she continued viciously. “He knew exactly what he was doing. That filthy orphan thought he could rob us and escape.”
Jessica rubbed her temples wearily. The entire situation felt exhausting. She believed that Marcus would never do such a thing!. She can vouch for that.
“Mom, calm down,” she said. “This must be a misunderstanding.”
Morgan looked at her like she had lost her mind.
“A misunderstanding?” she barked. “The necklace is gone! And he left”
Jessica sighed. “Marcus can be many things… vain, stubborn, lacking ambition, can be everything, but he would never steal.”
Morgan laughed harshly.
“Listen to yourself!” she sneered. “You are still defending that useless trash after he robbed you!”
“He didn’t rob anyone,” Jessica snapped.
Morgan slammed the safe door shut.
“That bastard grew up in an orphanage. Do you think people like that have any morals? He saw five hundred thousand dollars and his greedy eyes lit up!”
Jessica’s expression darkened.
“Mom.”
But Morgan was already in full rage.
“I knew it!” she shouted. “I always knew he was a disgusting leech. Living here for years like a stray dog. Eating our food. Sleeping in our house. Wearing clothes bought with your money. And now he repays us by stealing!”
Travis raised his hands as if trying to calm her.
“Mrs. Morgan, maybe we shouldn’t jump to conclusions so quickly…”
Morgan scoffed. “ The evidence is right here! He took it! If it isn't that worm then who?. Uhn?, ”
Travis added.
“Well… Marcus might have just borrowed it, maybe to sort some things out.”
He appeared to defend Marcus on the surface, but his words subtly reinforced the accusation of theft.
“Let’s leave this for now,” she added quietly. “I’m exhausted. Today has already been too much. I will ask him tomorrow”
Morgan stared at her in disbelief.
“Five-hundred-thousand-dollar necklace is missing and you want to sleep? What if he had sell it before tomorrow”
Jessica sighed again. She was so tired and believed her mother was overreacting. She just turned and walked upstairs.
Morgan’s face twisted with anger as she watched her daughter leave.
“That girl has completely lost her brain because of that beggar!I swear I will get it back, ” she muttered.
Travis watched Jessica disappear upstairs. Then he slowly and quietly spoke.
“Mrs. Morgan… maybe there is another way to deal with this.”
Morgan crossed her arms.
“What way?”.
“Let this go viral and public!. We will publish this online, and spread it as wide as possible.
Scandals involving wealthy families spread very fast. If people start talking about it, Marcus will panic. He will be put into pressure. So he won’t be able to hide for long. He will have no choice but to come back and return the necklace.”
Morgan’s eyes slowly lit up with vicious delight.
Then she burst into a cold laugh.
“Hah! Good idea!” she sneered. “That shameless beggar thinks he can steal from us and run away? I will destroy his reputation!”
Morgan quickly grabbed her phone.
She already had nearly fifty thousand followers on social media.
Over the years she had carefully built the image of a wealthy socialite, constantly posting photos of luxury dinners, expensive jewelry, and glamorous parties.
Even as a married woman. She would post many provocative, revealing images sometimes just for cheap followers.
Instantly, Morgan posted about Marcus stealing his fiancée’s jewelry on her social media account. She sat back and waited for Marcus to come crawling to her and admit his crime.

Marcus, however, didn't have any idea of what was brewing online.
The car drove for minutes before finally slowing down in front of a massive iron gate.
The gates opened automatically.
Beyond them stood a vast estate. The driveway curved through a perfectly manicured garden filled with fountains, trimmed hedges, and rows of tall trees. At the center stood a grand mansion that looked more like a palace than a home.
Several uniformed bodyguards were already standing near the entrance. As soon as the car stopped and Marcus stepped out, they straightened immediately.
“Welcome back, Young Master.”
They bowed respectfully as he walked past them.
“Welcome back home” Mr. Edward patted his son.
Marcus felt a strange heaviness in his chest. He had been here for years. He sighed as his Father guided him inside.
Just as he walked through the door to the massive spacious living room. A beautiful woman hurried toward him. Dressed in a full short red gown that showed her hour glass sexy body. Glassy skin and her hair draping on her shoulder.
Her eyes lit up the moment she saw him. “Marcus!” She wrapped her arms around him tightly.
Marcus stiffened for a moment before slowly returning the hug.
“Natalie…”
She pulled back and looked at him carefully, her eyes slightly red. Natalie was Marcus' sister.
Though, not his biological sister. She was also an orphan adopted by his parents years ago. While Marcus had left the family to chase love, she had stayed behind and managed everything.
For the past few years, she had been handling all company affairs alone. Only her.
Marcus felt a wave of guilt envisioning how hard it would have been.
“I’m sorry,” he said quietly. “I left everything to you.”
Natalie shook her head gently.“You are back now. That’s what matters.”
Mr. Edward smiled, and left the two to have their proper greetings.
Natalie immediately took his backpack, and settled him down. She in fact, served him some snacks and wine.
“So, how is everything”, Natalie inquired.
Marcus lowered his gaze and told her everything about Jessica.
“I wasted years,” he admitted. “From now on I will start learning properly. I will take over the family business like I was supposed to.”
Natalie smiled softly to see Marcus finally back in his senses.
“There’s no rush. I have already contacted the world’s top business school,” she continued. “You’ll enroll as a graduate student first. Finish your studies. After that, you can officially step into the company.”
Marcus was stunned. The role he once gave up… was now placed in front of him again. Back then, he had graduated from the best business school as an undergraduate. He had even been accepted directly into their elite graduate program. He was doing perfectly well.
But Jessica had appeared in his life. He fell woefully in love. For her, he had abandoned everything and it ended in sadness.
Now, he finally had a chance to make up for that regret. Marcus felt his throat tighten.
“Thank you,” he said quietly.
Just then, his phone suddenly rang.Marcus glanced at the screen.
Damien.
Damien was a friend he had met during the years he hid his true identity while dating Jessica.
Marcus answered.
Before he could speak, Damien’s anxious voice burst through the phone.
“Marcus! What the hell happened?!”
Marcus frowned. “What are you talking about?”
Damien sounded almost panicked. “You are all over the internet right now! Someone posted that you stole a 500,000 dollar ruby necklace from your fiancée’s family!”

Chapter 146
Marcus arrived at the office within the hour, After he and Natalie agreed to meeg there. He found Natalie at her desk, scrolling through the same news reports that had ruined his morning. She looked up and offered a small, practiced smile, but he was in no mood for pleasantries. "Why is Jessica bankrupt because of that scammer?" he asked, closing the door behind him. "You said you would deal with it." Natalie sighed and leaned back in her chair. "I thought I did. I don't know how he got released and still went ahead to scam her." Marcus studied her face for a long moment. The lie was obvious. He had known Natalie for years, and one thing he knew for certain was that she never left loose ends. She was thorough to a fault. The idea that she would let something slip through her fingers was almost laughable. "Come on, Natalie. I know you. You are not that clumsy. Don't tell me you never did anything." She held his gaze for a while before finally dropping the act. "Okay, fine. I didn'

Chapter 146
Travis quickly shook his head, panic written all over his face. "Jessica, listen to me! That's only what Mr. Smith told me. I believed everything he said too. I got fooled just like you." He took a step closer, his voice filled with desperation. "Think about it. If I were part of his scam, why would I still be here? Why wouldn't I have disappeared with him?" Jessica's eyes were bloodshot from crying, but they burned with anger. "So now what?" she snapped. "You were the one who convinced me to invest! You kept defending him every single time I had doubts. If it wasn't for you, I would never have handed over my money." Travis bit his lips. She pointed toward the front door. "So you would better find him and get every cent of my money back. Until then, pack your things and get out of my house!" Mrs. Morgan immediately stepped between them. "Jessica, calm down," she pleaded. "Travis is a victim too. Mr. Smith deceived him as well. You can't just throw him out." Jessica turned t
Chapter 144
Jessica refused to calm down even after the security guards surrounded her. "I said call the police!" she shouted hysterically. "I'll expose all of you!" Seeing that she refused to leave peacefully, the guards finally contacted the authorities. Twenty minutes later, Jessica and Natalie were both seated inside a nearby police station. Jessica pointed angrily at Natalie across the desk. "She's lying! She's preventing me from meeting Mr. Smith. He's one of the Langstone board leaders, and she's abusing her authority to keep me away from him!" The officer behind the desk looked from Jessica to Natalie. Natalie sighed, already exhausted. "Officer, there is no board leader named Mr. Smith at Langstone. In fact, there has never been one." Jessica slammed both palms onto the desk. "Stop lying! I met him! He introduced himself! I even met several other board members that day!" Natalie folded her arms. "And every single one of them was a scammer." Jessica glared at her. The officer

Natalie was just stepping out of her sleek black car, adjusting her tailored blazer as she prepared to enter the building. Seizing the moment, Jessica rushed forward, her heels clicking sharply against the pavement. “Hey! Hey!” she shouted, drawing curious glances from passersby and security guards nearby. Natalie turned at the noise. The moment she spotted Jessica, her expression hardened. She tried to walk past, but Jessica darted in front of her, blocking her path. “Hey, wait!” Natalie stopped, visibly annoyed. She frowned deeply. “What the heck is this? What do you think you are doing?” Jessica stood her ground, breathing heavily. “I requested to meet you last time and you refused. Now here we are.” Natalie’s eyes flashed with irritation. “That should have given you common sense that I don’t want to see you!” “Look, I’m not here to cause a scene,” Jessica insisted, though
Chapter 142
Marcus’s head throbbed as a high-pitched ringing filled his ears. He tried to open his eyes, but they were heavy at first, so he had to do it slowly… very slowly. As he did, light flooded in and blinded him for a moment. Everything was blurry. Then, little by little, shapes began to emerge and come into focus. A soft voice pierced through the haze beside him. “Marcus? Are you okay? Marcus, are you hearing me?” The words anchored him. He blinked hard, forcing his vision to sharpen. White walls, fluorescent lights, the faint smell of antiseptic and clean linen. He was in a hospital room, lying on a crisp hospital bed with monitors beeping steadily around him. Doctors in white coats hovered nearby, checking IV lines and reading charts. And right beside him sat Natalie, her face etched with worry, eyes red-rimmed from lack of sleep. He groaned, instinctively trying to push himself up. Pain lanced through his body, but he kept moving until Natalie’s hands pressed firmly against
