Chapter 10
Author: Oldwell
Elias knew he would only get answers by mentioning the marriage agreement.

Sure enough, Anthony’s attitude did a 180-degree turn. No wonder Remus didn’t have him do anything to the Bowen family yesterday. Anthony would’ve gotten into big trouble if he had.

“I see!” He chuckled. “To be frank with you, Eli, I’m not sure about Mr. Cosby’s identity either. A friend of mine asked me to help him while he’s in town. That's all.”

He couldn’t reveal it was his Temple Lord who gave the order.

Friend? Elias hummed. This friend must be powerful; otherwise, the Dragon Head himself wouldn’t be so subservient to Remus.

“Did this friend of yours stay in prison for some time?”

That must be the only way Remus had come to know this mystery person.

“Yes. They’re currently still in prison.”

Elias nodded to himself in understanding. Beside him, Brianne scoffed. “See? I told you Remus Cosby was just a lackey. He might just be the guy who scrubbed that other guy’s toilet for three years in prison!”

Elias agreed with her theory. Remus truly was just a good-for-nothing lackey.

“Hold up,” Anthony exclaimed in shock. “What did you say? Remus Cosby was in prison? For three years?”

Meanwhile, Remus was in a cafe having lunch with Abel Lawson. Abel was being incredibly respectful, all smiles and nods. He eagerly shoved the business contract to Kylie and had her sign it on the spot. The man was so happy with the deal he had even made Cox Corporation the exclusive supplier for all their projects.

“Mr. Cosby, will you attend Ms. Lotus’ press conference tonight?” Abel asked tentatively.

If Elias Bowen revered this man as a guest, he must have some influence, Abel thought. Remus might even be able to put in a good word for him when he saw Ms. Lotus.

Remus blinked. Jean Lotus was already here? If that were the case, he wouldn’t need to delay any longer!

“Of course I will!” he exclaimed.

His reaction won Abel over even more, as the man thought Remus might know Ms. Lotus personally. But he couldn’t express his awe right now, or it might ruin his plans. He’d make sure to greet Jean Lotus later tonight to get things going.

Abel then stood up. “Well, I’ll get out of your way now, Mr. Cosby. I hope to see you there tonight…and I’ll make sure to honor the deal with Cox Corp, so don’t you worry. Be seeing you.”

“I’ll see you out.” Kylie got up happily. The more deals she could land for work, the more secure her position.

As she was walking back into the cafe, she realized that her contempt for Remus had significantly decreased. The guy was easy on the eyes too. “That was some pretty good acting!” she praised with a smile.

Remus sipped his tea. “What do you mean?”

“Y’know, you going to Ms. Lotus’ conference. Someone like me wouldn’t even get an invitation, not to mention you. The Bowens wouldn’t bring you along either, since you’re not married to their daughter yet.”

Kylie truly believed Remus was putting up an act all this time. It’d be fine if Abel Lawson didn’t see Remus tonight. Every influential person from across the province would be attending, so not spotting Remus among the flood of attendees was highly likely.

Remus had really had it with Kylie. He set down his cup. “You’ve had your fun. I’m leaving now.”

Kylie rolled her eyes. “I forgot Miranda still needs you simping after her. Before you go, here’s some advice: everyone in the city knows how cold she can be toward men.

“It’s very likely she’s just using you as a temporary cover, so she doesn’t have to address her other suitors. So make sure you prepare yourself for a future after her. Save up some money, and make new connections. Don’t end up on the streets after she gets tired of you.”

If she didn’t find Remus very attractive, there was no way Miranda Bowen would. So it must all be some ongoing ploy.

Remus turned to leave without another word.

“Remember my advice!” Kylie called after him. “It’s for your own good!”

She followed him out the cafe.

Just then, two cars skidded to a stop before them. Eight burly men stepped out, all clasping bats and machetes. Their fierce, dangerous air made Kylie step back in fear.

Their leader was a bald man who stayed in the car. He was leaning out the passenger window lazily.

“Remus Cosby?” he asked.

“Yes. And you are?” Remus tilted his head curiously. Who were these people?

Before the bald man could answer, one of the men cried, “Are you blind? This is Bald Richard of Neptuna! How dare you disrespect him?!”

Bald Richard? The onlooking crowd stepped back fearfully, and some people walked away.

Kylie’s face had turned bone white. “Bald…Richard?”

Remus noticed that everyone was terrified of the man. He asked curiously, “Is he powerful?”

Kylie snuck him a look, answering softly, “He’s not just powerful; he’s the Dragon Head’s Team Leader in the underground world!”

Remus snorted in amusement. How outrageous were these people?

“What are you laughing at?!” one of the men demanded.

“Stop that and stay put!” Kylie hissed at Remus.

If Remus pissed these people off, there was no telling what they would do!

“It was nothing.” Remus bit his lip. He decided not to mess with these men because Anthony had treated him very well over the past few days. “What’s up?”

One of the hooligans raised his bat menacingly. “I’ll beat you to a pulp, fresh meat!”

“Stop!” Bald Richard suddenly said. He turned to Remus. “You’ve got some guts. Usually, people start kneeling and begging for mercy when they see me. If you kneel down and join me, I’ll show you mercy.”

“What are you waiting for? Kneel!”

“Boss treats us very well. Your only alternative is having your legs broken, kid!”

Kylie’s lips twitched at everyone’s encouragement. She wanted to warn Remus against acquainting with these people but stopped when she realized she could ask for his help once he was involved with the underworld.

“This could be your chance to avoid being a lifelong simp, Remus. Hurry up and seize it,” she quietly added.

Remus glared at her, then turned back to Bald Richard. “I can be one of your men, sure. But you better ask Anthony Mark first if he’ll take me under him.”

The moment he said that, the men turned silent.

Anthony Mark? The Dragon Head himself?

“That’s it! You’re dead meat!” one of the men roared, raising his bat once again.

Although Silas appeared ready to risk everything, his true intentions weren't in his actions but rather in his words. He first mentioned that deities lived on resilience, then clearly stated that surrendering would disturb their Hearts of Alchemy. He even insisted that he would not pressure them and declared he would fight by himself, saying he would battle to the very end and never surrender. With these statements, it was clear that he was implying the deities could not surrender and that they should stand firm and fight back alongside him.His goal was quite simple—if the deities behind him were swayed, he wouldn't have even the slightest chance of survival. However, if they all firmly stood by his side, he might still have a chance to live.As expected, after hearing Silas' words, a deity couldn't hold back their impulse and stepped forward."I will also fight to the very end, as I am this land's deity! How can I ever submit to others?""That's right! They have come to trampl

Since there was no way to make Silas surrender, Amez was trying to find a way to sway Silas' deities. Once they gave in, Silas would be left in a weak position and wouldn't pose much of a challenge.Amez's words were spoken straightforwardly, but the more direct they were, the more they could pierce into the Dominions' hearts. As expected, the three Dominions still wore anger on their faces, but none of them were saying anything. They appeared to be holding back and keeping their emotions in check, which was a noticeable change from earlier, when they were openly cursing Amez.More importantly, the hundreds of deities behind them were looking at each other, and upon closer observation, Amez could see that some were beginning to waver. After all, the two nations shared the same origins, and their deities had connections with one another. Moreover, Silas just mentioned that Amez once served under him. In other words, it would not be as mentally burdensome if they ended up serving und

Hearing that, Silas shuddered. He knew about Halvor heading to Darsia and had an inkling of Amez's intentions, but he never imagined that Amez would go to such lengths as to help Francis regain his power. Before this, Darsia almost reached the top spot globally, and correspondingly, Francis would have become the world's number one deity, meaning the most powerful one.Halvor was ranked fourth. Given the current circumstances, if Francis were to go on a rampage and attack Halvor, it could potentially wipe out Halvor. In that case, the deities under Halvor would lose most of their strength, resulting in mutual destruction."You... You are truly despicable!" Silas gritted out."Despicable?" Amez was completely indifferent, remarking calmly, "In the grand scheme of things, when everything is at stake, any means can be understood. Furthermore, doing so is entirely in my self-interest, which is perfectly reasonable. So, how is that despicable?"Silas wanted to speak several times but en

Hearing Silas' retort, Amez suddenly started laughing. His laughter grew more joyful, but eventually, his smile started fading."We're all smart people here, so why pretend to be confused when the current state of affairs is clear? The world is divided into four forces—besides you and me, there's the weakest, Darsia, and Halvor, who is just a bit stronger than them."As you just mentioned, it's impossible for me to remain whole after killing you. So, I need to calculate how much strength I have left."After doing the math, I can see that with the remaining strength, I can take down either Darsia or Halvor. However, if the two of them join forces, I might be in a bit of trouble."So, I've made them fight among themselves. Once they've exhausted each other, I'll make my move. This way, I'll always remain invincible."Silas, you should have already heard that Halvor has set out for Darsia. Under my command, he intends to destroy Darsia."I'm waiting for them to start fighting and we

At the edge of Talonia's border, a ripple suddenly appeared, as if Amez's voice had struck an invisible barrier. The ripple continued to spread, eventually parting to reveal a gap, within which a staircase appeared. On the steps above, a voice slowly emerged. It belonged to someone with golden hair and blue eyes, dressed in a pure white robe. His expression was somewhat serene, matching people's ideal image of a deity. However, at this moment, Silas' eyes revealed a glimpse of anger that he was trying to hide.Apart from Amez, the Celestial Triad, the hundreds of deities behind them, and even the military department below, all felt an intangible pressure. This was, after all, their first time seeing Silas. Moreover, up to this point, Talonia had not suffered any harm, unlike Darsia.Silas looked at them, calmly asking, "What brings you here?"Amez straightforwardly said, "I'm here to kill you!"Hearing that, Silas chuckled lightly. "You are just as arrogant as you were back then.

Gaining knowledge from books was never enough—true understanding always came from personal experience and practice. At this moment, not just Halvor, but even Francis, Grant, and Roman were shocked. They initially thought that after this attack, they would be injured and barely able to fight back, especially considering that they were facing Halvor and his six deputies.Roman's thoughts were quite straightforward. Their previous victory could have been due to the absence of a leading deity on the enemy party. Although the other group was weak, it was mainly because they were not united and their efforts were not coordinated. However, Halvor was here now. Roman never would have thought that they were truly this weak!"How is that possible?""Why is this happening?"Nick and Paul couldn't help but ask, their eyes filled with astonishment.Halvor had been a well-known main deity for thousands of years, and the deputies behind him had also attained divine status. Why were they so muc
