Chapter 9
Author: Oldwell
Everyone glanced at each other in confusion.

Honor their losing promises? Was Remus admitting defeat?

Miranda thought Remus was going that route too, given he probably didn’t know how to ride a horse. He’d stayed for two million but left yesterday when he was offered one million. So he was greedy!

Just then…

“Heee-!” With a loud neigh, Ben’s prize horse jumped back on its hind legs, then began bucking, as if in distress.

The crowd stepped back in shock. What was happening to the horse?

Ben had nearly fallen off with the first buck. He gaped in shock at the horse he had tamed three years ago.

He clasped onto the reins and snapped his whip, yelling, “Whoa, easy, easy! I still need to win that race! Stop it!”

But the horse only bucked fiercer the more Ben whipped it.

Remus smirked. He had learned to ride tigers and bears in the forests while training under his master’s tutelage. Horses were a piece of cake.

He snapped his fingers once again. This time the horse bucked with all fours in the air, tossing Ben off balance. He slammed onto the ground with a loud thud.

“Mr. Stuart!”

“Benny!”

His friends cried and rushed to his side, but before they could do anything to help, the horse went right up behind Ben. It placed its front legs beside his head and shifted so it was standing right above the man.

It was…quite the sight.

“Did you do this?” Miranda questioned Remus. After all, he was the odd one out.

Remus smiled. “What do you think? I don’t feel like sitting on him, so the horse can do it for me instead. Start the ten-minute countdown!”

With that, he turned and left, leaving everyone staring after him in horror.

“Get off me! Get off!” Ben roared, thoroughly humiliated now. Try as he might, his horse of over two thousand pounds was unmovable. He spotted Remus leaving from between the horse’s legs and cried, “Hey, come back here! We still need to race!”

“You lost.” Miranda gritted her teeth and said, “There’s no need to race anymore. You lost the moment he was able to control your horse.”

She then looked away, yet the moment her eyes landed on the horse, her cheeks flushed. She swiftly walked away, and everyone else surrounding Ben turned away, embarrassed as well.

The horse had taken quite a liking to Ben.

When Remus stepped off the race tracks, he saw a familiar face in the distance.

“Okay, maybe she’s the one stalking me.”

Kylie Cox was marching over to him, weaving through the crowd. Remus pretended not to see her and walked the other way.

“Stop!” Kylie yelled. She needed to use this chance to nail that business deal with Abel Lawson. She had stalked Miranda Bowen all the way here, hoping that Remus was here too, given that they shared a marriage agreement.

“Are you going to accuse me of stalking you again, stalker?” Remus grumbled, stopping in his tracks.

Kylie looked down at her feet, huffing. “I’m here ‘cause I need your help with something.”

She had never imagined this day would come.

Remus relaxed when he heard she wasn’t here to smear his name again. He wasn’t good at talking to women after all. “I’m busy.”

Kylie fidgeted. “But…”

He had stopped thirsting after her after bagging that Miranda girl, huh?

She pulled out one of her bank cards. “Don’t worry. You’ll be paid for this. And…you might’ve successfully seduced Miranda Bowen, but she will dump you one day. Mark my words. So you should start planning for your future. There’s two hundred grand here. Come walk with me, and I’ll explain what’s happening.”

Remus chuckled. Why did rich folk always abuse their money as if it wasn’t worth much? He then tossed the bank card Ben had given him in Kylie’s direction.

“Here’s two million dollars. Now, leave me alone.”

Kylie froze on the spot, steam just about hissing out her ears. She couldn’t stand his high and mighty attitude. He only had this much money because he seduced Miranda Bowen!

Still, she forced herself to calm down at the thought of the business deal for her company.

“Remus, could you consider doing me this favor, please? We were engaged, after all. There must have been something between us. Some…affection,” she pleaded. “If you help me with this, you can get three other requests in addition to the first three favors I already owe you from the marriage cancellation.

“I…I really don’t know who else to go to, so please…”

Remus frowned and quickly eyed her up and down.

It didn’t look like she had cancer. Maybe, she was suffering from some hormonal issues, but that was it. Why would he be her last resort?

Seeing him hesitate, Kylie added, “Please help me just this once, Remus, for the engagement’s sake. I just need you to meet Mr. Abel Lawson, nothing else. You don’t even need to speak to him.”

She even tried her best puppy-eyed look.

So she wanted him to meet someone.

“Just this once. Promise I’ll never see you again after.” Remus finally nodded. He could work with pleading.

“Alright!” Kylie beamed. “My car is right here!”

She went up to her Maserati and opened the door for Remus.

Minutes after they left, Miranda ran out into the street, realizing she hadn’t figured out who Remus Cosby was. However, all she had to work with was a trail of dust from the car that had just departed.

Her phone rang.

“Dad.”

“How did it go? Did you get any answers?” Elias asked anxiously.

Miranda gave it some thought. “He might not be as powerful as we thought. He accepted two hundred grand earlier…" She then told her father everything that had happened.

“So he thought I was offering too little yesterday,” Brianne Mells sneered, lounging at home. “And I was worried he was some sort of powerful titan in the city. He probably only knows the Dragon Head from prison or helped him with some trouble.

“That cheap lackey won’t be useful enough to help us partner with the Lotus family.”

The Dragon Head might owe Remus a favor, but that didn’t mean anything right now. Only someone as influential as the Dragon Head himself would be their ticket to Ms. Lotus.

Meanwhile, Elias knew things weren’t as simple as a favor owed. He didn’t climb to his position as the wealthiest man in Neptuna without learning the ways of the city.

“Don’t jump to conclusions. It’s best if we ask the Dragon Head himself,” he said quietly, then dialed Anthony’s number.

“Dragon Head, sir, this is Elias Bowen. I hope I’m not interrupting anything.”

“Cut to the chase,” was the cold reply.

Elias continued, “My daughter is engaged to Remus Cosby, but we don’t know much about his background, given that we’ve just met. We were wondering if you know anything about him, sir.”

The shattered energy from the cage scattered, resembling countless sharp blades that sliced through the space."Watch out!""Retreat, quickly!"The deputies' faces changed dramatically as they shouted, quickly retreating. They were already filled with trepidation before, knowing that battles between the main deities were extremely fierce, but they never expected it to reach such an extent. When Silas and Amez gave their all just now, the shattering energy that swept through the air made them feel like it was the end of the world. It reminded them of the most difficult moments, when they first achieved enlightenment and ascended to immortality, knowing that even the slightest misstep could lead to complete failure."You don't need just three moves—if you can defeat me, I'll give you 100 moves, a thousand moves, or even infinite time. If you're not at your peak, I'll let you go back and recover before you make your move," Silas said slowly.Although he said that, he certainly wasn

The energy from Silas and Amez relentlessly collided against each other. Their energy, dissipating and escaping, created colorful lights in the space around them, extending for thousands of feet with them at the center. It made the battlefield surprisingly dazzling."You're not as strong as I thought. Being called the world's top main deity is just an empty title," Silas mocked as he continued releasing his energy.Amez was expressionless, but inside, he was seething with anger. It was true—Silas was indeed much stronger than he had anticipated, which inevitably made him feel weaker in comparison.Of course, the most crucial point was that other deities were watching the fight. If he couldn't deal with Silas quickly, it would make it difficult to convince his people to remain loyal to him later. Moreover, Silas' words were like a psychological attack."I'm just getting started!" Amez slowly said. "I'm going to show you what it means to be the world's top main deity. With just three

The two streams of energy finally collided, and in an instant, the space was torn apart into layers."Run!""Step back!"The deities from both sides spoke at the same time. They anticipated that the fight between Silas and Amez would be astounding, but they never imagined it would be this terrifying. It was clear to them that being caught in their energy would result in serious injury or, worse, death. The deities from both sides, nearing a thousand in number, quickly put some distance between themselves and the battlefield. Initially, they were able to maintain their formation, but at this moment, they scattered, fully on alert. However, their facial expressions didn't show much intensity. Instead, they appeared to be somewhat entertained. After all, it was not every day they got to see two main deities engage in battle—something that hadn't happened for hundreds of years.Silas, realizing his initial strike was unsuccessful, released even more energy, launching another attack.

Their responses made Silas lose all hope. What they were saying seemed reasonable, but the underlying meaning was obvious even to a fool. If someone under Silas' command didn't follow his orders or couldn't carry out your will, it was a form of betrayal. Saying anything else was pointless. It was over for Silas. Without the three Dominions' help, there was no way to win this battle. No matter how many deities were behind him, they were nothing more than a useless bunch, unable to contribute to the fight, so the only outcome awaiting him was death.Should he consider betrayal as well? But that wasn't possible. The issue wasn't simply about betrayal. The most important thing was that Silas could never accept having another authority besides himself. Just as there couldn't be two suns in the sky, deities couldn't serve two leaders.Even if Amez accepted Silas now, he would still find a reason to deal with Silas in the future.Forcing the three Dominions to return to Silas' side wasn

Although Silas appeared ready to risk everything, his true intentions weren't in his actions but rather in his words. He first mentioned that deities lived on resilience, then clearly stated that surrendering would disturb their Hearts of Alchemy. He even insisted that he would not pressure them and declared he would fight by himself, saying he would battle to the very end and never surrender. With these statements, it was clear that he was implying the deities could not surrender and that they should stand firm and fight back alongside him.His goal was quite simple—if the deities behind him were swayed, he wouldn't have even the slightest chance of survival. However, if they all firmly stood by his side, he might still have a chance to live.As expected, after hearing Silas' words, a deity couldn't hold back their impulse and stepped forward."I will also fight to the very end, as I am this land's deity! How can I ever submit to others?""That's right! They have come to trampl

  • Chapter 3048

Since there was no way to make Silas surrender, Amez was trying to find a way to sway Silas' deities. Once they gave in, Silas would be left in a weak position and wouldn't pose much of a challenge.Amez's words were spoken straightforwardly, but the more direct they were, the more they could pierce into the Dominions' hearts. As expected, the three Dominions still wore anger on their faces, but none of them were saying anything. They appeared to be holding back and keeping their emotions in check, which was a noticeable change from earlier, when they were openly cursing Amez.More importantly, the hundreds of deities behind them were looking at each other, and upon closer observation, Amez could see that some were beginning to waver. After all, the two nations shared the same origins, and their deities had connections with one another. Moreover, Silas just mentioned that Amez once served under him. In other words, it would not be as mentally burdensome if they ended up serving und
