Chapter 4
Author: Oldwell
The guests murmured in surprise. Arresting a criminal?

Kylie nodded vigorously, telling them everything that had happened at the airport. She felt confident about her judgment, that she wouldn’t have to deal with Remus Cosby anymore. She even pitied him a bit. The man had escaped from prison just to meet her again, but the price of that was likely another decade in jail.

“Oh, so it was just some hooligan. There I was, already preparing myself for Ms. Lotus.” Abel Lawson relaxed instantly.

Since that was the case, he still had time to plan.

Someone jumped at the opportunity to butter him up. “That hooligan should be taught a lesson for making Mr. Lawson worry like this.”

“I’ll have my police friends find out where he’s being held and have someone break his legs!”

“I have connections in prison, too. I’ll make sure that he’s taken care of every single day!”

Hearing all the discussions, Kylie pitied Remus even more. Remus’ remaining days in prison didn’t sound too good. But in any case, he had brought it upon himself.

She then thought of taking the chance to persuade Abel to award them the contract once again, but then her phone rang. She left the private room to answer it.

“Ahh!” she suddenly shrieked, the phone slipping from her grasp. Her shriek brought several guests from the private room out.

“Ms. Cox, are you alright?”

“What happened, Ms. Cox?”

Kylie didn’t seem to have heard them. She was still staring into the distance, eyeing a certain someone in the restaurant.

What was Remus Cosby doing here?!

The man just happened to notice her as well. He put his silverware down in exasperation. “All I wanted was just to have a quiet lunch,” he sighed, then got up to leave.

“Stop!” Kylie said through clenched teeth. What was he doing here? Was he really stalking her?!

She stormed up to him and cried, “I told you we don’t belong together, and I told you to stop following me! Are you deaf? Did you not hear me right?!”

The surrounding guests then understood that this man was a simp. No wonder Kylie was reacting so strongly.

Remus rolled his eyes. “When was I stalking you? Will you get out of my way?”

His tone upset several men, who decided to jump to Kylie’s rescue like knights in shining armor.

“Hey, watch your tone, buddy! I’ll rough you up!” someone cried, picking up a wine bottle menacingly.

Someone else roared, “You better apologize, or I’ll make sure you crawl out of here!”

“I say we whoop his ass right now!”

Everyone swiftly launched themselves at Remus, ready to swing their fists at his face at Kylie’s order.

Just then, Abel walked out of the private room and asked flatly, “Who is this, Ms. Cox?”

Kylie replied while glaring at Remus, “He’s the criminal from the airport that I told you about. I have no idea how he managed to escape again!”

The atmosphere in the restaurant immediately grew tense. Criminal? Escaped? Many of the wannabe white knights immediately shrunk back, their sharp accusations falling silent.

Even Abel tensed up, regretting coming out of the room.

Who would risk their lives by going head to head with an escaped criminal?

Remus was upset with Kylie’s accusation but didn’t make a move nor bother to explain himself. None of the surrounding guests seemed willing to cross him, so he could let it pass. Instead, he walked past Kylie, heading right for the entrance.

“Don’t you dare walk out that door!” Kylie cried again. “Swear to me right now that you’re never going to show yourself in my presence ever again, or you won’t be leaving here at all!”

She needed to make sure she would never see him again, once and for all.

Remus’ eyes darkened, and his demeanor immediately turned hostile. Even the surrounding guests felt it.

He hated when people threatened him. If Kylie weren’t a girl, he would’ve done something to her the first time she talked to him this way. Yet here she was, testing his patience again and again.

“How do you plan on stopping me from leaving?” he asked slowly.

Kylie felt like she was in the crosshairs of a dangerous beast. Her sudden recollection that Remus was a criminal added to her fear.

But she couldn’t surrender now. “Mr. Reyes, call those police friends of yours now!”

Reyes had mentioned that he could have his friends arrest Remus, so she would make that happen right now!

“I…” The man stepped back in shock. “N-no, I don’t know anyone.”

He’d probably get beaten up before his friends arrived, so there was no way that he would do that.

“Mr. Reyes?” Kylie frowned, then turned to the man beside him. “You said you had connections in prison, right, Mr. Williams? Maybe one of them is this criminal’s boss!”

Mr. Williams leapt back. He couldn’t risk calling someone who knew this criminal! “No, no, I don’t have any!”

“What…?” Kylie was nearly at a loss now. She gazed desperately at the men around her, hoping one of them would come to her rescue. Yet none of them met her gaze.

Only an idiot would risk their life by going up against a convicted criminal!

Still unwilling to give up, Kylie turned to Abel. He was the most powerful person here.

The man cussed her out internally but kept his polite expression on. He forced a hideous smile. “Kid, if you need a job now that you’re free, I have a vacant position you can take. Five thousand minimum right now.”

Mr. Reyes leapt at the chance too. “I’m hiring too!”

“This is your chance to make it big, kid. Mr. Lawson doesn’t hire just anybody!”

They all tried to appeal to Remus, hoping to get in his good graces.

“Heh.” Remus scoffed. “Five thousand? Those chumps in prison pay me at least a million dollars just to avoid getting beaten up. Now, scram!”

His words left the men speechless and embarrassed.

“Remus Cosby!” Kylie yelled angrily. Abel Lawson was her one-way ticket to career stability. She couldn’t let him be humiliated! “Your stupid little game disgusts me! I’ll let you off again, but I’ll make sure you beg me for mercy next time!”

She didn’t have time to prepare for their encounter because it was so sudden. Next time, she needed to make sure she was ready for it. All she needed was the right connections.

The men were plotting silently too. They would teach the kid a lesson if it were the last thing they did!

“Who do you want begging for mercy?” someone suddenly called from the entrance. An old man, followed by several bodyguards, walked in.

Abel and the men jumped in surprise.

This man was a highly influential person in Neptuna!

The shattered energy from the cage scattered, resembling countless sharp blades that sliced through the space."Watch out!""Retreat, quickly!"The deputies' faces changed dramatically as they shouted, quickly retreating. They were already filled with trepidation before, knowing that battles between the main deities were extremely fierce, but they never expected it to reach such an extent. When Silas and Amez gave their all just now, the shattering energy that swept through the air made them feel like it was the end of the world. It reminded them of the most difficult moments, when they first achieved enlightenment and ascended to immortality, knowing that even the slightest misstep could lead to complete failure."You don't need just three moves—if you can defeat me, I'll give you 100 moves, a thousand moves, or even infinite time. If you're not at your peak, I'll let you go back and recover before you make your move," Silas said slowly.Although he said that, he certainly wasn

  • Chapter 3052

The energy from Silas and Amez relentlessly collided against each other. Their energy, dissipating and escaping, created colorful lights in the space around them, extending for thousands of feet with them at the center. It made the battlefield surprisingly dazzling."You're not as strong as I thought. Being called the world's top main deity is just an empty title," Silas mocked as he continued releasing his energy.Amez was expressionless, but inside, he was seething with anger. It was true—Silas was indeed much stronger than he had anticipated, which inevitably made him feel weaker in comparison.Of course, the most crucial point was that other deities were watching the fight. If he couldn't deal with Silas quickly, it would make it difficult to convince his people to remain loyal to him later. Moreover, Silas' words were like a psychological attack."I'm just getting started!" Amez slowly said. "I'm going to show you what it means to be the world's top main deity. With just three

The two streams of energy finally collided, and in an instant, the space was torn apart into layers."Run!""Step back!"The deities from both sides spoke at the same time. They anticipated that the fight between Silas and Amez would be astounding, but they never imagined it would be this terrifying. It was clear to them that being caught in their energy would result in serious injury or, worse, death. The deities from both sides, nearing a thousand in number, quickly put some distance between themselves and the battlefield. Initially, they were able to maintain their formation, but at this moment, they scattered, fully on alert. However, their facial expressions didn't show much intensity. Instead, they appeared to be somewhat entertained. After all, it was not every day they got to see two main deities engage in battle—something that hadn't happened for hundreds of years.Silas, realizing his initial strike was unsuccessful, released even more energy, launching another attack.

Their responses made Silas lose all hope. What they were saying seemed reasonable, but the underlying meaning was obvious even to a fool. If someone under Silas' command didn't follow his orders or couldn't carry out your will, it was a form of betrayal. Saying anything else was pointless. It was over for Silas. Without the three Dominions' help, there was no way to win this battle. No matter how many deities were behind him, they were nothing more than a useless bunch, unable to contribute to the fight, so the only outcome awaiting him was death.Should he consider betrayal as well? But that wasn't possible. The issue wasn't simply about betrayal. The most important thing was that Silas could never accept having another authority besides himself. Just as there couldn't be two suns in the sky, deities couldn't serve two leaders.Even if Amez accepted Silas now, he would still find a reason to deal with Silas in the future.Forcing the three Dominions to return to Silas' side wasn

  • Chapter 3049

Although Silas appeared ready to risk everything, his true intentions weren't in his actions but rather in his words. He first mentioned that deities lived on resilience, then clearly stated that surrendering would disturb their Hearts of Alchemy. He even insisted that he would not pressure them and declared he would fight by himself, saying he would battle to the very end and never surrender. With these statements, it was clear that he was implying the deities could not surrender and that they should stand firm and fight back alongside him.His goal was quite simple—if the deities behind him were swayed, he wouldn't have even the slightest chance of survival. However, if they all firmly stood by his side, he might still have a chance to live.As expected, after hearing Silas' words, a deity couldn't hold back their impulse and stepped forward."I will also fight to the very end, as I am this land's deity! How can I ever submit to others?""That's right! They have come to trampl

  • Chapter 3048

Since there was no way to make Silas surrender, Amez was trying to find a way to sway Silas' deities. Once they gave in, Silas would be left in a weak position and wouldn't pose much of a challenge.Amez's words were spoken straightforwardly, but the more direct they were, the more they could pierce into the Dominions' hearts. As expected, the three Dominions still wore anger on their faces, but none of them were saying anything. They appeared to be holding back and keeping their emotions in check, which was a noticeable change from earlier, when they were openly cursing Amez.More importantly, the hundreds of deities behind them were looking at each other, and upon closer observation, Amez could see that some were beginning to waver. After all, the two nations shared the same origins, and their deities had connections with one another. Moreover, Silas just mentioned that Amez once served under him. In other words, it would not be as mentally burdensome if they ended up serving und
