Chapter 7
Author: Oldwell
Wasn’t this the Working Emperor’s villa?

Could she…could she be that sugar baby the man had kept around?

Remus thought it might be possible. She seemed like one of those mistresses left alone without their lover.

“You could live here too,” she purred, rubbing Remus’ chest. “Why don’t you go upstairs first, hm? I’ll be right there, and then we can enjoy ourselves properly.”

This was the first time a woman had touched Remus. His heart felt like it might explode. He silently cursed the Working Emperor for letting this happen. He peeled away from her touch and dashed upstairs, heading right into the shower.

“Hmm…” The woman laughed, then called out, “Remember to wash yourself clean and wait for me in bed!”

In the next second, her expression fell, and she used her phone to order several guards to come wait in the living room. They were all dressed in tunics lined with gold.

“Miss!” they greeted politely, standing in line.

She had already put on modest clothes by this time. “A man slipped into this house five minutes ago. He’s currently taking a shower upstairs.”

That news shocked the guards. Someone had infiltrated the villa?

If he had hurt her, the old man would have their heads served on a platter. He had ordered them to protect her at all costs.

The guards fell to their knees at once. “We’re so sorry, m—”

“Get up. Nothing’s happened to me yet,” the woman said. “Kick him out, but don’t hurt him. Make sure he never speaks of this.”

She could understand if the guards had let the man slip inside while they were busy seeking refuge from the downpour outside. None of them, nor the man, needed to die for an honest mistake.

“Yes, miss!” The men immediately ran upstairs.

In a bathroom on the second floor, Remus heard the commotion outside. He swiftly wrapped himself in a towel and left the bathroom, coming face to face with four men.

“Who are you?” Remus asked calmly.

Were they that woman’s…

The guards looked at each other, preparing themselves to attack this man. He had almost cost them their heads after all. The lady had ordered them to ensure he never said anything about all this, and only a dead man could keep secrets.

The leader spoke up. “Step outside with us for a bit, kid.”

They’d take care of things outside when they were out of the woman’s sight.

Remus placed his hands on his waist. “I’m not gonna waste my time walking outside. We’ll settle this here.”

“Your funeral, kid!” the guard growled and swung a fist right at Remus’ face. If they couldn’t do it the easy way, the hard way it was.

“All for a woman,” Remus muttered. So many men in the prison got locked up because of their compulsion for women.

Remus took a small step back and landed a kick that sent the guard falling down the stairwell.

“Attack!” The remaining guards launched themselves at him immediately.

Remus took care of all of them in the next five seconds. They shared the same fate as their leader.

“How…” The woman on the living room couch stood up, seeing her guards topple downstairs one after the other. Her father had personally chosen these skilled guards. How had that man defeated them so easily?

She spotted Remus standing on the landing in nothing but a towel.

“Who are you, and why are you here?” she asked calmly.

A slight wave of disappointment rose in Remus’ chest when he noticed she was fully clothed now.

“Don’t be scared. My name is Remus Cosby, and I’m the Working Emperor’s friend from prison. He lent me the place to stay for a few days, but I’ll leave first thing tomorrow. I didn’t know he had arranged for you to be here too.”

It was still raining as well.

“Adam?” The woman blinked in confusion. In the next second, she had regained her foxy air. “So you’re Adam’s friend. You should’ve told me earlier. I wouldn’t have called my guards on you otherwise. At least I got a chance to witness your strength, and might I say, you’re one strong man.

“I wonder if you’re just as proficient in bed.”

Remus winced in response. This woman really was a vixen. Her tone was always unnecessarily seductive. He glanced at the guards who were passed out on the stairs.

Yeah, the Working Emperor probably left them here to protect her. With her…energy, she needed it.

Remus then went to drag the fallen guards out the door one by one.

“What are you doing?”

“Helping them wake up faster,” Remus said. He closed the front door and went upstairs. “I would never touch my friend’s wife, so don’t try anything with me either. Goodnight.”

The woman gazed at his retreating figure, still in disbelief. She tried to make herself feel better and said, “Don’t think I can’t read you, kid. You’re trying to prove your integrity to me, aren’t you? I know you’re doing this just to get my attention.”

Remus nearly fell down the stairs upon hearing this. He swiftly retired to a room, shutting the door.

The woman giggled to herself for a moment, then pulled out her phone.

“Put the word out that I, Jean Lotus, will be hosting the press conference tomorrow at 8 pm. I’ll also announce who my business partner in Neptuna will be.”

Just like that, the city erupted into excitement, awaiting the dawn of tomorrow.

If it weren’t for a phone call, Remus would have slept until noon.

“How on Earth did you get my phone number, Ms. Bowen?” Remus grumbled.

“Not important,” Miranda quipped. “Meet me at Neptunus Equestrian Race Tracks in half an hour!”

“Nope.” Remus didn’t even bother considering it. One, he didn’t like her tone. Two, he didn’t feel like they needed to see each other again.

“What did you say?” Miranda shrieked. She had never been turned down before, given that she was one of the most beautiful socialites in Neptuna.

Remus repeated himself. “I said I’m not going.” Then, he hung up.

But Miranda quickly called him again, still upset. “At least let us have a proper goodbye to conclude our engagement. I’ll be there waiting!”

Only then did she hang up. She wouldn’t have even gotten his number if it weren’t for her parents!

“She’s definitely on something,” Remus grumbled and tossed his phone aside. They had already said their goodbyes a day ago. They didn’t need another one.

Just then…

“Hey, you’re awake, aren’t you? I’m coming in.” Jean’s voice came from behind the door. Then, she pushed the door open.

She was still clad in her wine-red silk nightgown from yesterday, her sensual curves visible beneath the fabric. Her eyes were glowing mischievously. “Come on. Pull those sheets aside, and we can greet the morning properly.”

Remus immediately tightened his grip on the sheets. He whined, “Stop that! I still wanna sleep.”

Jean beamed. “Oh, me too! Why don’t we sleep together? Scooch over.”

The shattered energy from the cage scattered, resembling countless sharp blades that sliced through the space."Watch out!""Retreat, quickly!"The deputies' faces changed dramatically as they shouted, quickly retreating. They were already filled with trepidation before, knowing that battles between the main deities were extremely fierce, but they never expected it to reach such an extent. When Silas and Amez gave their all just now, the shattering energy that swept through the air made them feel like it was the end of the world. It reminded them of the most difficult moments, when they first achieved enlightenment and ascended to immortality, knowing that even the slightest misstep could lead to complete failure."You don't need just three moves—if you can defeat me, I'll give you 100 moves, a thousand moves, or even infinite time. If you're not at your peak, I'll let you go back and recover before you make your move," Silas said slowly.Although he said that, he certainly wasn

The energy from Silas and Amez relentlessly collided against each other. Their energy, dissipating and escaping, created colorful lights in the space around them, extending for thousands of feet with them at the center. It made the battlefield surprisingly dazzling."You're not as strong as I thought. Being called the world's top main deity is just an empty title," Silas mocked as he continued releasing his energy.Amez was expressionless, but inside, he was seething with anger. It was true—Silas was indeed much stronger than he had anticipated, which inevitably made him feel weaker in comparison.Of course, the most crucial point was that other deities were watching the fight. If he couldn't deal with Silas quickly, it would make it difficult to convince his people to remain loyal to him later. Moreover, Silas' words were like a psychological attack."I'm just getting started!" Amez slowly said. "I'm going to show you what it means to be the world's top main deity. With just three

The two streams of energy finally collided, and in an instant, the space was torn apart into layers."Run!""Step back!"The deities from both sides spoke at the same time. They anticipated that the fight between Silas and Amez would be astounding, but they never imagined it would be this terrifying. It was clear to them that being caught in their energy would result in serious injury or, worse, death. The deities from both sides, nearing a thousand in number, quickly put some distance between themselves and the battlefield. Initially, they were able to maintain their formation, but at this moment, they scattered, fully on alert. However, their facial expressions didn't show much intensity. Instead, they appeared to be somewhat entertained. After all, it was not every day they got to see two main deities engage in battle—something that hadn't happened for hundreds of years.Silas, realizing his initial strike was unsuccessful, released even more energy, launching another attack.

Their responses made Silas lose all hope. What they were saying seemed reasonable, but the underlying meaning was obvious even to a fool. If someone under Silas' command didn't follow his orders or couldn't carry out your will, it was a form of betrayal. Saying anything else was pointless. It was over for Silas. Without the three Dominions' help, there was no way to win this battle. No matter how many deities were behind him, they were nothing more than a useless bunch, unable to contribute to the fight, so the only outcome awaiting him was death.Should he consider betrayal as well? But that wasn't possible. The issue wasn't simply about betrayal. The most important thing was that Silas could never accept having another authority besides himself. Just as there couldn't be two suns in the sky, deities couldn't serve two leaders.Even if Amez accepted Silas now, he would still find a reason to deal with Silas in the future.Forcing the three Dominions to return to Silas' side wasn

Although Silas appeared ready to risk everything, his true intentions weren't in his actions but rather in his words. He first mentioned that deities lived on resilience, then clearly stated that surrendering would disturb their Hearts of Alchemy. He even insisted that he would not pressure them and declared he would fight by himself, saying he would battle to the very end and never surrender. With these statements, it was clear that he was implying the deities could not surrender and that they should stand firm and fight back alongside him.His goal was quite simple—if the deities behind him were swayed, he wouldn't have even the slightest chance of survival. However, if they all firmly stood by his side, he might still have a chance to live.As expected, after hearing Silas' words, a deity couldn't hold back their impulse and stepped forward."I will also fight to the very end, as I am this land's deity! Since there was no way to make Silas surrender, Amez was trying to find a way to sway Silas' deities. Once they gave in, Silas would be left in a weak position and wouldn't pose much of a challenge.Amez's words were spoken straightforwardly, but the more direct they were, the more they could pierce into the Dominions' hearts. As expected, the three Dominions still wore anger on their faces, but none of them were saying anything. They appeared to be holding back and keeping their emotions in check, which was a noticeable change from earlier, when they were openly cursing Amez.More importantly, the hundreds of deities behind them were looking at each other, and upon closer observation, Amez could see that some were beginning to waver. After all, the two nations shared the same origins, and their deities had connections with one another. Moreover, Silas just mentioned that Amez once served under him. In other words, it would not be as mentally burdensome if they ended up serving und
