Chapter 7
Author: Oldwell
Wasn’t this the Working Emperor’s villa?

Could she…could she be that sugar baby the man had kept around?

Remus thought it might be possible. She seemed like one of those mistresses left alone without their lover.

“You could live here too,” she purred, rubbing Remus’ chest. “Why don’t you go upstairs first, hm? I’ll be right there, and then we can enjoy ourselves properly.”

This was the first time a woman had touched Remus. His heart felt like it might explode. He silently cursed the Working Emperor for letting this happen. He peeled away from her touch and dashed upstairs, heading right into the shower.

“Hmm…” The woman laughed, then called out, “Remember to wash yourself clean and wait for me in bed!”

In the next second, her expression fell, and she used her phone to order several guards to come wait in the living room. They were all dressed in tunics lined with gold.

“Miss!” they greeted politely, standing in line.

She had already put on modest clothes by this time. “A man slipped into this house five minutes ago. He’s currently taking a shower upstairs.”

That news shocked the guards. Someone had infiltrated the villa?

If he had hurt her, the old man would have their heads served on a platter. He had ordered them to protect her at all costs.

The guards fell to their knees at once. “We’re so sorry, m—”

“Get up. Nothing’s happened to me yet,” the woman said. “Kick him out, but don’t hurt him. Make sure he never speaks of this.”

She could understand if the guards had let the man slip inside while they were busy seeking refuge from the downpour outside. None of them, nor the man, needed to die for an honest mistake.

“Yes, miss!” The men immediately ran upstairs.

In a bathroom on the second floor, Remus heard the commotion outside. He swiftly wrapped himself in a towel and left the bathroom, coming face to face with four men.

“Who are you?” Remus asked calmly.

Were they that woman’s…

The guards looked at each other, preparing themselves to attack this man. He had almost cost them their heads after all. The lady had ordered them to ensure he never said anything about all this, and only a dead man could keep secrets.

The leader spoke up. “Step outside with us for a bit, kid.”

They’d take care of things outside when they were out of the woman’s sight.

Remus placed his hands on his waist. “I’m not gonna waste my time walking outside. We’ll settle this here.”

“Your funeral, kid!” the guard growled and swung a fist right at Remus’ face. If they couldn’t do it the easy way, the hard way it was.

“All for a woman,” Remus muttered. So many men in the prison got locked up because of their compulsion for women.

Remus took a small step back and landed a kick that sent the guard falling down the stairwell.

“Attack!” The remaining guards launched themselves at him immediately.

Remus took care of all of them in the next five seconds. They shared the same fate as their leader.

“How…” The woman on the living room couch stood up, seeing her guards topple downstairs one after the other. Her father had personally chosen these skilled guards. How had that man defeated them so easily?

She spotted Remus standing on the landing in nothing but a towel.

“Who are you, and why are you here?” she asked calmly.

A slight wave of disappointment rose in Remus’ chest when he noticed she was fully clothed now.

“Don’t be scared. My name is Remus Cosby, and I’m the Working Emperor’s friend from prison. He lent me the place to stay for a few days, but I’ll leave first thing tomorrow. I didn’t know he had arranged for you to be here too.”

It was still raining as well.

“Adam?” The woman blinked in confusion. In the next second, she had regained her foxy air. “So you’re Adam’s friend. You should’ve told me earlier. I wouldn’t have called my guards on you otherwise. At least I got a chance to witness your strength, and might I say, you’re one strong man.

“I wonder if you’re just as proficient in bed.”

Remus winced in response. This woman really was a vixen. Her tone was always unnecessarily seductive. He glanced at the guards who were passed out on the stairs.

Yeah, the Working Emperor probably left them here to protect her. With her…energy, she needed it.

Remus then went to drag the fallen guards out the door one by one.

“What are you doing?”

“Helping them wake up faster,” Remus said. He closed the front door and went upstairs. “I would never touch my friend’s wife, so don’t try anything with me either. Goodnight.”

The woman gazed at his retreating figure, still in disbelief. She tried to make herself feel better and said, “Don’t think I can’t read you, kid. You’re trying to prove your integrity to me, aren’t you? I know you’re doing this just to get my attention.”

Remus nearly fell down the stairs upon hearing this. He swiftly retired to a room, shutting the door.

The woman giggled to herself for a moment, then pulled out her phone.

“Put the word out that I, Jean Lotus, will be hosting the press conference tomorrow at 8 pm. I’ll also announce who my business partner in Neptuna will be.”

Just like that, the city erupted into excitement, awaiting the dawn of tomorrow.

If it weren’t for a phone call, Remus would have slept until noon.

“How on Earth did you get my phone number, Ms. Bowen?” Remus grumbled.

“Not important,” Miranda quipped. “Meet me at Neptunus Equestrian Race Tracks in half an hour!”

“Nope.” Remus didn’t even bother considering it. One, he didn’t like her tone. Two, he didn’t feel like they needed to see each other again.

“What did you say?” Miranda shrieked. She had never been turned down before, given that she was one of the most beautiful socialites in Neptuna.

Remus repeated himself. “I said I’m not going.” Then, he hung up.

But Miranda quickly called him again, still upset. “At least let us have a proper goodbye to conclude our engagement. I’ll be there waiting!”

Only then did she hang up. She wouldn’t have even gotten his number if it weren’t for her parents!

“She’s definitely on something,” Remus grumbled and tossed his phone aside. They had already said their goodbyes a day ago. They didn’t need another one.

Just then…

“Hey, you’re awake, aren’t you? I’m coming in.” Jean’s voice came from behind the door. Then, she pushed the door open.

She was still clad in her wine-red silk nightgown from yesterday, her sensual curves visible beneath the fabric. Her eyes were glowing mischievously. “Come on. Pull those sheets aside, and we can greet the morning properly.”

Remus immediately tightened his grip on the sheets. He whined, “Stop that! I still wanna sleep.”

Jean beamed. “Oh, me too! Why don’t we sleep together? Scooch over.”

The vibrations in the air grew increasingly intense, reminiscent of an earthquake in the Mortal Realm. Even the deities hovering in mid-air began to sway, feeling astonished. At that moment, a birdcall rang out. A giant, fiery red bird suddenly appeared, spanning several thousand feet in length. Its form was exceptionally graceful. This bird caught the attention of Remus' partners, and their eyes widened in recognition. It was Ruby, Remus' mount. It hadn't appeared in a long time, so why was it suddenly here?At that moment, Ruby's entire body ignited in raging flames, and her massive form managed to burn a gap into the very fabric of space. Beyond this gap lay an unfathomable abyss.Upon seeing this, Amez narrowed his eyes and said with indifference, "All these despicable Darsians know is trickery. Kill them!"The six deputies and thousands of deities were preparing to take action once more. However, at that critical moment, a voice emerged from the abyss, asking, "Who are you a

"My child!""What are you doing to my child?""Francis!"Remus' partners began to scream. They didn't know what Francis was doing—all they cared about was that their children were crying.Rafael and Melody were shocked. Roman, the ghost kings, and the Four Great Beast Lords were all equally taken aback. In their understanding, no matter what, Francis would never target children.Amez was also stunned. He had no idea what Francis was doing, but that didn't stop him from continuing what he was about to do.He said coldly, "I see you've finally decided to show yourself. Are you going to choose your own way to die, or shall I personally be the one to end you?"Hearing that, Francis' expression darkened, but he remained silent. Instead, he increased his energy, and the children's sobs were filled with pain.“You shameless old man! I'm going to kill you…" Candace struggled to get up, but as soon as she did, she let out a yelp as she felt a sharp pain in her abdomen, as if something w

But what was happening to Roman was just the beginning. At that moment, a series of loud rumbling sounds followed one after another. The four ghost kings were all sent flying backward, their energy starting to waver. They were clearly reaching their limits. In comparison, the six deputy deities opposite them were only in a slightly more disheveled state than Amez, all of them panting heavily and struggling to stand steadily.Below them, the Four Great Beast Lords were starting to resemble machines as they fought back, or rather, their energy had been completely exhausted. The ones who were still standing were using their incredibly powerful bodies to withstand the enemies' attacks. Because of that, they were covered in wounds.Fortunately, Amelicon now had fewer than a thousand deities left. However, they had become an insurmountable barrier, preventing any further efforts to eliminate more of Amelicon's people."Attack!" Roman roared and charged toward Amez again. The four ghost

"I didn't expect I'd have to face all of this right after being freed. It really is one thing after another," said another voice, this one much sharper than the ones before.Following the source of the voice, one could see that this figure was also enormous, standing at a thousand feet tall.It stood on two feet, and its hands swung wildly, although there was not much difference between its hands and feet. Its sharp claws gleamed with a chilling light. It was covered in snow-white fur, while the fur on its head and tail was a striking red. Its tusks protruded outward, and its eyes were cold and merciless. It was the beast trapped at Shenington, Skyran. It had also indirectly helped Remus back then."It's been a long time since I came back, but this is still my home. How could I let you troublemakers cause problems here? Huh?"The fourth voice came from overseas. At the same time, it seemed as if a small island was rapidly moving toward Darsia.Upon closer inspection, it became c

At that critical moment, Rafael and Melody, who were meditating in the courtyard, suddenly opened their eyes. Without exchanging any words, they swiftly took to the air, their energy rapidly surging outward, colliding with Amelicon's energy in an instant.Cracking sounds echoed across Darsia, and it became evident that a crack had formed in the energy. In the next moment, the energy suddenly shattered, exploding like a sharp blade. It instantly sliced through the skies above Darsia, sweeping away all the clouds.Soon, Rafael and Melody both made a muffled sound, urgently trying not to open their mouths. After all, if they did, the first thing to come out wouldn't be their voice but blood.Their incredible strength lay in the past. Rafael was once the Demon Lord, holding his own against Roman, and could cause chaos even in the Upper Realms. However, he was imprisoned for a long time for Remus, and his energy was drained over time.Since he had only recently regained freedom, he had

Clusters of demon energy exploded across the sky. This dark energy began to contaminate the Amelicon deities' energy, similar to ink drops falling into a bowl of clear water. The only difference was that, unlike ink, which would diffuse and thin out, this demonic energy permeated and tainted everything it touched. However, while the water in a bowl didn't move, the Amelicon deities' energy was constantly flowing. It caused the demons' energy to be rapidly absorbed and diluted, and it eventually disappeared. In the meantime, the demons had long vanished without a trace.Candace, who was in the Mortal Realm, cried out in anguish when she saw this scene, "No!"She struggled to push away Remus' partners and tried to join the fight again. However, the demon energy within her had dissipated, leaving her as nothing more than a severely injured woman. Never mind battling—even taking into the air was a challenge to her now."Darsia, we're here!""You heretics all deserve to die!"The Am
