The Figure
Stefin, on the other hand, grew tired of them. “These guys don’t know when to give up… huh?” he muttered.Anna didn’t say a word in response. Instead, she raised her bow to strike, but there were too many of them. She couldn’t shoot multiple arrows because it would drain the little magical energy she had left.Since they were outnumbered and surrounded, Stefin and Anna formed a back-to-back stance without even agreeing to it.Stefin’s grip on his spear tightened, but his instincts told him there was no way he would take out these things on his own. While his gaze remained fixed on the swarm of blighted preparing to attack them, he whispered to Anna behind him. “Hey?” he said quietly.Anna didn’t answer.“Hey… you mind putting the act down for a while?” Stefin whispered again.“Don’t talk to me,” Anna replied immediately.Stefin looked surprised and confused. “You see, I don’t understand you.” He paused, then turned slightly toward Anna, ignoring the swarm of blighted in front of him.

The massive blighted advanced, each step shaking the ground beneath him. Their red markings glowed faintly, pulsing with the dark energy that seemed to warp the air around them. He tightened his grip on his sword, the blue crystals along the blade flaring brighter. “Alright,” he muttered, crouching into a ready stance. “I can you guys out.” With a sudden burst of speed, Stefin dashed forward, weaving between their attacks, his sword slashing through the air with precision. The real battle had just started, and since they entered the blighted realm, there had been no sign of Anna. The moment Stefin closed the distance between himself and the swarm of blighted, he made his first attack on the one closest to him. Although he cut into the blighted’s ribcage, it didn’t do much damage. “What the hell?” he muttered. Before he could process what had just happened, one of the blighted appeared behind him and launched a surprise attack, slamming its fist toward Stefin’s back. He reacted qui
That Was Easy
Stefin opened his mouth to speak, but before a word could leave his lips, she moved. In the blink of an eye, she was gone. Stefan’s eyes widened in shock. “She’s really fast,” he said, his jaw dropping as he spun around, trying to see where she had gone, but he couldn’t find her. He nodded to himself but didn’t say anything else. Instead, he made his way deeper into the fractured zone, hoping he could find her. Stefin walked cautiously through the crimson landscape, his boots crunching against the brittle, dark ground. The air in the blighted realm felt heavier than usual, thick with a strange tension. “Anna?” he called out, his voice echoing faintly through the empty wasteland. No response. He exhaled slowly and rubbed the back of his neck. “Figures.” Just as he took another step forward, a sharp whistle cut through the air. Stefan’s instincts reacted instantly. He twisted his body to the side as a black, spear-like spike shot past his head and slammed into the ground behind him.
I Work Alone
For a brief moment, Stefin remained lying on the ground. “Who said anything about sneaking up on you?” he groaned as he slowly tried to sit up. “I literally called out to you.” He rubbed the back of his head and looked up at her. “You know,” he added, slightly annoyed, “most people would say thank you politely after someone saves their life… not walking out on instead.” Anna crossed her arms, her expression returning to its usual calm. “I already said thank you,” she replied flatly. “Yeah,” Stefin muttered, finally getting to his feet. “You said it like you were apologizing to the air.” Anna ignored that comment and looked back at the ground, her eyes scanning the area again. Stefin noticed. “…So,” he said, dusting off his clothes, “what exactly are you looking for?” Anna didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she kept staring at the pavement as if something important had vanished. Then, a few seconds later, she spoke. “You know I could ask you the same thing… right?” “Oh, me?” he
You Just Saved Me
Stefin swallowed hard, his chest tightening. He looked at Anna, still a few steps ahead, and then back at Bob and Jerry. “…Alright,” he muttered under his breath, determination finally flickering in his eyes. He started walking after her.Although he wasn’t really confident about it, he had no choice at this moment. He began walking slowly behind her, but the closer he tried to get, the farther she seemed to move away. It felt as though the ground itself was dragging him back, refusing to let him move forward. He already knew her name, so he called out to her while gesturing slightly with his hand to get her attention.“Anna?” he called. There was no response. He tried again. “Anna!” But still got nothing. He called out three more times, but she didn’t react at all. Finally, he glanced back over his shoulder, only to be surprised to see that his friends were right behind him, though they kept a safe distance. He wasn’t really surprised by that. Turning slightly toward them while still
A Date Instead
The remaining part of the school day didn’t pass quietly. In every class, students whispered about what had happened between Anna and Sonia. Some praised Anna for standing up to Sonia, while others said she had been foolish and had only gotten herself into trouble.A few hours later, the final bell rang. The sound echoed through the hallways, and the classroom instantly filled with noise, chairs scraping against the floor, students laughing, and bags being slung over shoulders.Stefin stood up slowly and slung his bag over his shoulder.Bob and Jerry walked toward him from the front row where they sat.“That was… a day,” Bob muttered, letting out a breath of relief.Jerry nodded slightly as he adjusted his glasses. “Yeah, I could say the same.” Then he glanced toward Anna’s seat by his left where she sat close to Stefin and noticed it was empty. Slowly, he turned back to Stefin, whose gaze was fixed on them. “Where is she?” Jerry asked, gesturing toward her desk with his head. “The ne
