Lauren quietly observed Luke as he ate. He had already offered her to join him several times, but she refused every single time. Multiple dishes were served so he could take his pick, yet in the end, he nearly cleared everything on the table.

Joey could only blink in disbelief while watching Luke, genuinely wondering how one person could stuff that many dishes into his stomach. He looked like someone who had not eaten for days, maybe weeks.

“Are you done?” Lauren asked when

“You sure?” one of the crew members asked, raising a brow. He stood with his hands on his hips, a skeptical look on his face.“I swear. He’s there,” the one who saw Luke insisted in a hushed but controlled voice.“Ha, who are you trying to fool?” another scoffed, followed by laughter. “Like we don’t know Luke.”“Yeah. You probably just imagined it. Maybe he’s just serving there,” one of them added in agreement. The man who had seen Luke grew frustrated. “Why don’t we make a bet? Five bucks, deal?”They exchanged glances, then quickly agreed. Why not? It sounded like easy money.“Sure, lead the way,” one of them said, rubbing his palms together. Who would turn down free cash? With that, they headed toward the grand hall.Jeff stood not far from them, busy with his phone. He had heard everything. Someone claimed Luke was sitting at the master’s table. He did not believe it, but curiosity got the better of him, so

“By the way, isn’t it Mr. Theodore’s turn to give his speech? Where is he?” Joey’s question cut through the probing stares directed at Luke, including Javier’s.Javier immediately looked around and realized that Theodore was indeed nowhere in sight.“I’ll call him,” Lance suggested, already pulling out his phone. Before he could dial, Theodore arrived. Two men followed closely behind him.Luke’s expressionless gaze shifted toward them. They were Richard and Matthew. He ignored them just as quickly. The two, however, frowned in confusion. What was Luke doing at the master’s table?Richard sneered inwardly, disbelief evident even in his thoughts. Luke really had some nerve. What kind of story did he spin to Joey to be treated like that and even be invited to sit with them?Still, this worked out in his favor. With Luke right there, it would be easier to teach him a lesson and humiliate him at the

  • Chapter 52 - A Test Of Strength

Joey invited Luke to sit at the same table as Javier. Because of that, nearly everyone in the hall found their eyes drifting toward them, each person watching with their own expectations. What was Joey doing? Was he really going to let Luke sit there?Joey was considered the most valued guest, so it was only natural for him to be seated alongside the heads of both families. But allowing Luke to sit there as well felt, to many, completely undeserved. And that was not even the end of it.Their mouths fell open one after another. Joey did not just let Luke sit at the table, he even offered him his own seat, the one right beside Javier. He personally pulled the chair out for him.As if that was still not enough, their widened eyes soon gave way to stiff shoulders when, after Luke sat down, Joey opened a bottle of champagne and poured a glass for him. Only after that did he pour one for Javier. At that point, Joey had practically outd

“What did Uncle say? That man is his friend?” one of the young men from the Alanis family group blurted out, a brow raised in disbelief. No one bothered to answer him.The hall had gone quiet, especially around their area, so his question carried clearly. They had all heard what Joey said. Aside from the young man, several others could not help but feel puzzled as well.Joey was already in his mid-fifties, while Luke looked to be barely in his twenties. How could someone like Joey have a friend as young as Luke? On top of that, Luke was dressed in nothing more than ordinary clothes. Their statuses simply did not match if Luke truly came from the lower class. It was not impossible, but to them, it was strange.A woman from the Alanis family group approached Joey. Her expression was hard to read, her eyes slightly narrowed.“Joey, do you really know this guy?” she asked in a hushed yet clearly skeptical tone.Even though she whispered, those nearby still heard her.“Why, is it wrong for

“Thank you for gracing our humble celebration, ladies and gentlemen.”Luke blinked and briefly turned his gaze toward the stage, where an old man stood holding a microphone. It was clear that the celebration was about to begin. But Luke had no interest in any of it. He was simply there to do his job, and right now, something had caught his attention. It was Kina’s presence. He immediately looked back to where she had been standing, but she was no longer there.‘Where is she?’His eyes swept across the hall. It did not take long before he spotted her near the staircase leading to the second floor, accompanied by another woman. He pressed a hand against his chest as it slowly began to calm. He was certain that Kina had been looking at him just moments ago, even if only for a second.Or maybe not.Was he just imagining things? He followed them with his gaze as they ascended the stairs. The woman b

“Did Mr. Alanis really do that?”Matthew was finally the one to break the silence. He turned to Ludwig, his eyes still wide. “You saw that too, right? He bowed to that loser?” he asked, seeking confirmation.Ludwig slowly nodded after a moment, but he did not bother to speak. His gaze remained fixed on Luke and Joey as they walked away, his face still filled with disbelief. He looked as if he had been struck by a cold gust of wind, leaving him completely frozen in place.Richard frowned when he heard this. “What did you say? Mr. Joey bowed to that guy?” he asked, one brow subtly raised.Since his back had been turned when Joey approached Luke, he had not witnessed what Matthew and Ludwig saw. If he had seen it, his reaction would have likely been far worse than the two.Matthew nodded repeatedly in response, then even mimicked Joey’s gesture by slightly bowing his head in front of Richard.Richard’s frown deepen
