CHAPTER 1: Awakening
“Master, please… open your eyes.”
The urgent whisper sliced through Ethan’s unconsciousness like a dagger. Before he could respond, a thunderous roar shattered the air.
Boom!
He jolted awake—heart racing, lungs burning—just as a blast of flame erupted meters from where he lay. Grass scorched to black beside him, and shards of glowing stone rained from the sky. His vision spun wildly.
What the hell?! This isn’t my dorm…!
Above him, the sky was a vibrant, impossible shade of blue. Clouds drifted lazily, utterly indifferent to the chaos below. A plume of smoke curled from a crumbled marble structure not far away. The smell of burned moss and blood mixed with the sweet scent of wildflowers.
He blinked rapidly, trying to make sense of his surroundings. Something warm and clawed suddenly grabbed his shoulders.
“Master! Ethan—stay down!” a familiar voice commanded, urgent and melodic.
His eyes focused. A woman’s silhouette knelt above him, haloed in sunlight. Curved ebony horns swept back from her brow. Silver-white hair framed a striking face dusted with obsidian scales. Her crimson eyes blazed with both worry and restrained power.
“…Celestia?” Ethan croaked, his throat raw and voice filled with disbelief.
She let out a shaky breath, relief flashing across her face. “You’re awake.” Celestia managed a half-chiding smile. “You really know how to make an entrance—collapsing right as that damn artifact blew half the temple sky-high.”
“I… what?” He tried to sit up—too fast.
The world tilted. A jolt of nausea gripped his gut. Celestia’s claw-tipped hand pressed against his chest, steady and cool. “Easy,” she murmured.
“You passed out the moment you touched the Arcane Godslayer,” she said, eyes scanning him as if to ensure he was intact. “Then the guardian statue exploded. I dragged you out before the whole Temple of Ascension came down.”
Ethan coughed, the taste of smoke still clinging to his tongue. “So… not a dream, then.”
Celestia arched an elegant brow. “No headset, no controller, and unless your dorm room has started spontaneously combusting, I’d say welcome to the real Astrael.”
His stomach flipped—not from dizziness this time, but from realization.
This was real. The Temple of Ascension, the Godslayer gear, Celestia… all real.
Memories flooded back—standing atop the altar in-game, claiming the ultimate reward after a grueling three-day dungeon run. There’d been a blinding flash—and now he was here.
Trapped? No… Transformed.
He looked down at himself. Midnight-blue armor encased his body, every plate etched with glowing runes that pulsed softly in time with his racing heartbeat. A longsword was strapped across his back, its blade shimmering with latent power. Ethan flexed his fingers—the metal gauntlet groaned under the pressure. This body wasn’t an avatar. It was his.
“But… why here? Why me?” he whispered, equal parts awe and fear.
Celestia cast a wary glance toward the still-smoking ruins. “The Arcane Godslayer didn’t just grant power. It tore something open—a veil between worlds. You didn’t just log in… you were summoned.”
Ethan sat in stunned silence, trying to process Celestia’s words. Before he could speak, a distant howl echoed through the ruins.
Celestia’s eyes narrowed. “Scavenger wargs,” she said tersely, rising to her feet and offering him a hand. “They’ve caught the scent of blood. We don’t have much time.”
Still dazed, Ethan grasped her forearm and pulled himself up. His knees nearly buckled, but Celestia’s hold was firm and reassuring—just as it had been countless times in the game. A second howl rippled through the air, closer now.
“Can you walk?” Celestia asked, urgency sharpening her tone.
“Y-yeah,” Ethan managed, though it wasn’t entirely true. Every muscle in his body ached like he’d been thrown from the sky.
Celestia thrust a leather waterskin into his hands. “Drink. Fast.”
The water was shockingly cold and pure—a blessed relief against his parched throat. Ethan gulped greedily until Celestia snatched it back. “No time to drain the whole spring, my lord. Move!”
They sprinted across the clearing just as three hulking shapes burst from the treeline—snarling, wolf-like beasts the size of bears, with matted fur and glowing eyes. Ethan’s instincts screamed at him to run—but another part of him stirred, something deeper and more primal.
The power of the Godslayer within him awoke.
He yanked the longsword free. The metal sang as it left the sheath, and despite his lack of real-world combat experience, the blade felt right in his grip—almost as if it knew his hand. He barely had time to plant his feet before the first warg lunged.
“Together!” Celestia hissed, her obsidian wings flaring open. “If they lunge, we strike as one.”
“Wait—I’ve never actually fought for real—!” Ethan’s protest died on his lips as the beast leapt for his throat, jaws gaping.
Reflex took over. Ethan swung in a broad arc.
Steel met flesh with a wet thunk. A spray of dark blood splattered the grass. The lead warg yelped, crashing sideways into a tree trunk, and did not rise again.
Celestia was a blur of motion, diving into the remaining two like a storm of claws and fire. Ethan caught glimpses of her in action—a crackling whip of blue flame in one hand, fingers of the other hand splayed as she unleashed a blast of concussive force. One warg crumpled under her onslaught, and the last tried to circle behind her—only to be knocked off its feet by a sudden lash of Celestia’s tail. An instant later, all three beasts lay motionless amid the trampled wildflowers.
For a moment, the only sounds were Ethan’s ragged breathing and the crackle of a nearby burning bush. They stood panting in the carnage, adrenaline coursing hot and bright.
“I… I just killed something,” Ethan said, his voice barely above a whisper. He stared at the blood on his sword in disbelief.
Celestia turned to him, her expression unreadable. “And you’re still alive.” Then, more gently, she added, “This world isn’t a game anymore, Ethan. Every breath here is earned.”
He nodded numbly, trying to calm his racing heart. The blade in his hand still shimmered, warm with some inner power. As horrifying as the encounter had been, one truth cut through the haze of his fear: he wasn’t dead. He had faced danger… and survived.
Celestia stepped closer, concern edging her crimson eyes. “We should find shelter. There’s a town not far from here—a place to rest and plan our next move.”
Ethan exhaled shakily and wiped the sweat from his brow. “A town sounds good,” he managed, still trembling from the fight.
They sheathed their weapons and turned toward a narrow path leading into the dense forest. Just before they slipped into the tree line, Celestia cast Ethan a sideways look, her lips curving in a wry smile. “Perhaps next time, my master might ask before touching ancient god-killing relics?”
Despite everything, a fractured laugh escaped him. “I’ll… I’ll put it on my to-do list.”
“Good.” Celestia chuckled softly as they vanished under the canopy’s shade. “You’re going to need a very long list.”
Together, they disappeared into the forest shadows, leaving the smoldering ruins of the temple behind. In the distance, thunder rumbled, and the stench of blood gradually faded into the sweet aroma of moss and foliage.
But deep beneath the shattered Temple of Ascension—far below the earth where no light had ever reached—something stirred.
A massive black seal, long buried under layers of ancient warding magic, pulsed faintly… then cracked. From the darkness behind it, a pair of burning violet eyes snapped open, glowing with ancient, malevolent amusement.
A low voice echoed in the abyss, serpentine and smooth—like velvet drawn over a dagger’s edge.
“So… our little Dragon Emperor has finally arrived.”
A ghostly grin stretched across unseen lips, jagged and mocking in the darkness.

The Dragon Emperor of Another World: Awakening of a Legend CHAPTER 164: Dark Secrets
Ethan gently laid Seraphina against a smooth section of the cavern wall. Her breathing was shallow, but steady; Eileen’s swift healing ministrations had halted the worst of the curse. Though Seraphina remained pale and weak, she forced her eyes open. “I’m alright,” she insisted softly, even as Celestia and Nina knelt beside her in concern. The saint was determined not to become a burden—not when so many others still needed saving.Further down the tunnel, a massive wooden gate reinforced with iron vines barred the way forward—Theros’s doing, no doubt, to seal off his retreat. Beyond that gate likely lay the heart of his operation. Ethan approached the obstacle, sword in hand, and saw strange symbols carved into the wood—runes glimmering with residual magic. It was a lock, and a formidable one at that.“Stand

Seraphina’s instincts kicked in a heartbeat before Theros’s dark spell could pierce her. She threw up both hands and a dome of shimmering golden light flared around her body. Theros’s fingers, crackling with malevolent energy, struck the holy barrier instead of her flesh. There was a crack like thunder. Seraphina staggered under the impact, her boots skidding on the rocky ground as her barrier trembled.Theros’s form flickered, and for an instant his eyes glowed a hellish blackish-purple in the dark. He pressed against her barrier, face contorting with effort and glee. “Ah, a lively one,” he hissed. “Your soul shines so brightly, little saint... it will make the perfect offering to the dark god of the Black Market.”Seraphina’s heart pounded. The pressure of his attack was unlike anything she had felt—

The celebration had scarcely ended when grim new tidings forced Ethan to action. That evening, he gathered his closest allies and the elven envoys in the war room. Under guard stood General Cassaran—one of the captured conspirators—sweating and shaking under their stares.“Tell us everything,” Ethan demanded, his tone brooking no disobedience.Cassaran’s resolve crumbled instantly. “It… it was all planned by that monster,” he blurted, eyes darting around as if Theros might somehow hear him. “Theros orchestrated everything from the start!”At the mention of that name, Celestia’s expression turned icy. “Monster? What is he?” she asked sharply.Cassaran trembled. “He’s not human&helli

The Dragon Emperor of Another World: Awakening of a Legend CHAPTER 161: Step-Out
A warm noon sun bathed Carosso’s central courtyard, where humans and elves gathered in a momentous celebration of their hard-won victory. Around them were their loyal companions—Nina, Eileen, Seraphina, Israya, Lyssandra—and the high elf envoys Lucianna, Tyriel, Aetherlyn, and others from the hidden forests. Every face in the courtyard, whether human or elf, shone with cautious hope.“Today,” Ethan announced, his voice carrying proudly over the murmuring throng, “we stand as one united family, having fought together under the banner of justice to save the people of Avelline. Let this victory—and our unity—be a beacon for the future.” He turned to the foremost high elves, who were now rested and bandaged from their ordeals. For the first time in centuries, the reclusive High Elves

Moments later, a battered iron grate was pried open on the edge of the courtyard – a stairwell leading up from Malric’s dungeons. Tyriel emerged first, soot-stained and anxious, supporting a pale but smiling Aetherlyn. Selena and several soldiers followed behind, helping a line of gaunt prisoners climb up into the cool morning air. Elven faces, human faces – the victims of Malric’s cruelty – blinked at the dawn sky as if seeing it for the first time in ages.Near the front of the freed captives, Aetherlyn nearly buckled as the fresh breeze hit her face, but Tyriel caught her and gently eased her to sit on a fallen stone column. “Aetherlyn… we’re here,” he whispered, voice choked with emotion. The elven bard was filthy and shivering, silver hair matted and cheeks sunken, yet to Tyriel she had never looked more beautiful.

Two Carosso knights hauled him forward and kept him bowed on the blood-spattered marble.Emperor Ethan approached with measured steps, his black armor glinting with the red hues of sunrise filtering through the collapsed roof. Celestia strode just behind him, expression as pitiless as an avenging angel’s. Lucianna and the other companions gathered around – exhausted, bloodied, but resolute – to witness judgment.Malric lifted his head, trembling. Gone wa
