The principal notices how the colour has left Stephanie's face.

“Oh, ma'am, are you sure that you are okay? You have nothing to worry about. Athena has been vented, and we are very sure that she will be able to keep up.” Principal Mabel says

"Oh, Roman? No one that you should be worried about." John waves off. He takes the notepad from Kevin and cuts off the page with the writing, before asking him to put it in his pocket. "Listen, don't look all suspicious, as if you have seen a ghost. Roman is my friend, and he is the first person I want to introduce you to." The magic works. Kevin's face lights up immediately. "Really? Ha! At least I'm getting introduced to someone today." John agrees with a smile. "When do I get to see your wife and kid though? I have always wanted to be a real Uncle!" "Really soon, Kev. Really soon." If not for the streetlights that has been set in strategic distances, and the glowing headlights, it would feel like they are driving into a bottomless abyss. That's how dark the night is. Yet, John makes jokes as he drives towards the Croft mansion, telling Kevin nothing but good things about Roman. He feels horrible and miserable. This is like the worst day of his life. He wipes his hand over his mouth, and in the blurry yellow light of the evening, he thinks he sees some trace of blood. A rush of rage suddenly envelopes him, and he starts to angrily kick the tire of his car over and over again. "Argh! Fuck you, Uncle Von! Fuck you for not being able to keep it in your damn pants! This is the first time I've ever had something to myself and out have ruined it for me!" He is making so much noise and causing a nuisance that a security guard flashes light at him from the distance. "Hey! You! Get out of here!" This is so embarrassing for him. He get

"Finna, do you know who those people are?" Mr Beerson asks. They all have their eyes on John and the strange couple. "I've never seen them in my life." Finna replies. Their eyes doesn't even move an inch away as John speaks to the pitiable duo, and then hands a card to them. After that, he adjusts the cuffs of his jacket and starts to walk back to them. "Who are those people?" Mrs Beerson wastes no time to ask. "They don't look like they belong here. Don't tell me that you invited them for your Uncle's burial." "I may be wrong, but I could swear that I heard the lady sobbing through out the service. Who is she?" Mr Beerson asks. John won't even look them in the face. "No one, they were just lost. Wanted to go to the funeral home at the other side of town." Finna doesn't believe a single thing that John has said. She has been married to this man for eight, going to nine years, and she knows when her husband is lying. "But you gave them a card." Finna says with a tone of suspi

Alex is wiping his mother's face with a towel that he found in the dresser, and he cut it up with a butter knife. He has soaked it into water and holds it over her head, to help fight her fever. His uncle has refused to see him just yet, else he would have begged again for his mother and Athena to be freed. Athena is still in her uniform, and she is standing by the window, fingering the small dolphin pendant that is hung on her silver necklace. She doesn't look as worried as she was the first time, and he even catches her smiling sometimes. His heart skips a couple of beats. Has his best friend gone insane? Why is she smiling at the empty air? “Athena, can you come and help me hold this?” He calls her. She comes and stands to his side. He steals a few more glances at her face, trying to get a final reading of her emotions. “What's the matter, Athena, you are acting strange.” She holds her hand over her mouth as a giggle escapes. “Nothing. Just that my Dad will soon be here.”
