Over a million soldiers are in their neatly pressed uniforms, holding their guns and standing as still as statues. They have been standing here, under the scorching sun for seven hours, but none of them dare move or ask for water. They are doing this out of their freewill, and they consider it to be the highest honour of their lives. They are here to welcome the dragon general, Roman Croft, after he has come back from the great war that he fought. The seven nations powerful army of over ten million dangerously trained men were supposed to attack the country because the dragon general was out of the country for more than a year straight. They were getting ready to go to war with tears in their eyes, because they knew that most of them were going to die in this meaningless war. Where was the dragon general?! The rest of the generals couldn't contact him, and the whole country went into chaos. A dark cloud fell on the entire country, because they were surely going to bury millions

Back in the city, a little girl is sweeping the floor of the doghouse of a massive mansion. It's enraging to see a little girl working so hard to clean up the place, but what's more enraging is seeing her crippled mother washing piles of clothes only a few feet away. Athena Croft is just seven years old, but she has been forced to grow up to help her weak mother. She was brought into this world some seven years ago, when her mother was forced to give birth in this very doghouse by her wicked family. Why is Stephanie Croft so hated by her own family? That's because she fell in love with a young soldier seven years ago and got married to him, even though she knew that her parents wouldn't approve of such a poor soldier as an inlaw. He was deployed to the army the very next day, and she was left to announce to her parents that she was married and pregnant, but her useless husband was nowhere to be found. Her father and mother beat her up so badly that she fell from the stairs of

Athena wants to charge at her cousin and for the first time in her life, she wants to fight Pumpkin just to defend her parents’ honour. Pumpkin is just eight years old, but she insults Athena's parents like they are dirt on the ground. Pumpkin can see that her words are stiring something inside of Athena, and she is immediately pleased. “What?! You are mad because I said your mother is a prostitute and your father ran away from you two? What are you going to do about it then? Are you going to hit me?!” Athena’s hands are folded into fists, but she doesn't move at her. “No, Pumpkin, I won't fight you. That's not the kind of girl that my mother raised.” “Well, good choice! Because my mother would cut off your hands and feed them to our dogs if you dare to lay a finger on me! Get to cleaning immediately!” Pumpkin walks to the door, while Athena goes back to cleaning, but just before she leaves, she turns around and gives her cousin one last warning. “And if you steal any of my stu

Athena is saying thank you with tears in her eyes, but Pumpkin has already gone. She hurries with the pack of cereal in a paper bag, pressed against her chest. She never thought that a day would come when her cousin would be nice to her…As she gets to the gate, normally, the security never pay any attention to her, but since she is holding something in her hands (which is unusual) they stop her. “Athena, what do you have in your hands?” Athena’s heart pierce with fear. They want to take her precious cereal?“Nothing! I mean, it's something, but it was given to me by my cousin! I didn't steal anything!” “We didn't accuse you of stealing, Athena.” “I know you are, by the way you are looking at me! My mother trained me never to take what's not mine, so you have nothing to fear.” Her words of assurance did nothing for them, and before she knew it, she had been forcefully turned around, and she was being pushed back to the house. “Well, if Miss Pumpkin gave it to you, then you don

Back at the Beerson family mansion, Stephanie is still on the ground. She has tried to lift herself to a sitting position, so that she can crawl around and do things, but she knows it's impossible. No one is going to help her, and Athena is going to be gone for hours. What is she going to do? She hears a slow movement a few feet away from her and when she raises her head, she sees Mrs Beerson, her biological mother, strolling into the garden with a glass of champagne in her hand. “Mum!” Stephanie calls out as loud as she can. “Mum!” Mrs Beerson snarls when she sees that it's her useless daughter calling out to her. “What do you want, Stephanie? There is no extra food in my kitchen for you, don't even try to beg me!” She hiss. “Oh, mum, it's not about that!” Stephanie laughs in pain. “I was wondering if you can help me sit up straight, so that I can crawl around. I wouldn't have bothered you, but Athena, my little helper, is going to be away for hours.” In the entire Beerson fa

.“I'm sorry, Roman, I tried to stop it, but they beat both of us and starved me. I tried to protect our daughter, I swear to you.” Roman is not even going to blame her. She is crippled, how can any of this be her fault? Instead, he picks her up in his arms and takes her to the helicopter that landed outside the house. Stephanie has never been in a helicopter before, and she is so startled by the entire experience. Captain Carmen also comes into the helicopter and he jumps into the pilot seat. “Where are we heading to, sir?” He asks Roman. “Take me to that place where my daughter has been turned into a maid!” He orders. In a few minutes time, commotion has set in the Kent compound as the helicopter is dangerously close to the roof. Roman steps out of the helicopter before it can even reach the ground and his eyes scans around for his daughter. She is not hard to recognize, she looks like an angel and not even the maltreatment from her maternal family has been able to break he

As soon as they are in the sky again, Stephanie holds on to her dear husband's hand and begs him. “Please, Roman, please, don't do this.” She begs with all her heart. “That house is where I grew up and honestly, Finna and her family showed us kindness sometimes. Right, Athena?” Athena nods. “She gave us a cake that made us sick and we had to use the toilet for three days!” Stephanie laughs nervously. “Well, the cake was laced with laxatives, but that was a joke. Finna jokes like that sometimes.” Roman growls under his breath. Carmen is actively communicating with the rest of the soldiers, and at this moment, he turns to his boss. “Sir, the Beerson mansion has just been destroyed now. The Kent Mansion is going down in the next twenty minutes!” “Wait!” Stephanie grabs his hand. “You can't do this, Roman. Stop it.” “After everything that your family did, trust me this is me showing them mercy. I should throw them in jail too!” She grabs his face and kisses his lips to calm him

Stephanie throws her head back and laughs so loudly that everyone is stunned by this. “Regain my ability to walk? Oh, Doctor, don't flatter me!” she holds her hand over her nose, trying to stop herself from laughing. Roman immediately goes down on one knee in front of her, gently cradling her face in his hands. “This is not a joke, my love. I worked in the army for years, and I have seen many hopeless situations given hope to by people like Doctor Jenkins. He is the best doctor in the world, so let's have a little faith.” Doctor Jenkins clears his throat. “Mrs Croft, not to toot my own horn, but the General is right. From my little examination of your feet, this is not even a critical case.” “Please, Doctor, enough!” Stephanie raises her voice. “You are not giving me hope, what you are giving me is false belief! Look at my daughter, she has never seen me walk since she was born. How do you think she is going to feel if this treatment fails?” “Stephanie, this is not false hope.

Stephanie wakes up very late the next morning, and she had such a satisfied sleep that her eyes are still shut. She stretches like a cat, before yawning and walking to the bathroom. She sits on the toilet bowl as she passes out urine, and only when she feels her toes against the feathery fur of the carpet does she remember that she hasn't felt it in seven years. The sleep disappeared from her eye and she immediately touched her thighs, down to her toes. She can feel every touch, and it's as real as her heart beating in her chest. “Ahhh!” She jumps up, fearing that she is in some kind of fucked up dream. She goes over to the tap and splashes water over her face. She slaps herself till her cheeks stings with pain, but each time she looks down, her legs are still working! She runs out of the bedroom and room, and downstairs, she finds Roman talking to some of the servants. “Roman!! Roman, I can walk!” She doesn't wait for him to see, she jumps into his hands and wriggles her t

Roman finds himself sighing over and over again. He is in his brand-new office, going through all the compilation of research that Carmen sent to him. Carmen didn't lie, the Beerson family is in trouble. They sold all their lands and other houses, and he destroyed their last mansion. Roman is tempted to laugh, this would surely teach them a lesson, but he knows that Stephanie is too good for this world. There is no way that she would be able to sleep knowing that her parents are being left under the scorching sun, and the cold winds of the night. See, John Kent has moved himself, Finna, and Pumpkin into a five star hotel, but he has refused to take the Beerson parents with him… Finna shamelessly turned her parents down at the entrance of the five stars hotel, and they were left with their bags under the gaze of passerbys. If not for Stephanie's timely calling, they would have been forced to go to the homeless shelter….A soft knock on the door makes Roman look up. It's Stephanie
