Mrs Doe was taken aback by Boris self-effacing. She couldn’t believe he would put away his ego and drop on his knees to defend himself despite being the heir to one of the most powerful families in the country.

“What are you doing, Boris? Please get to your feet,” Mrs Doe said quickly grabbing both of his arms as he raised him to his feet. “There is no need to apologize or explain yourself— I did not believe a word of the accusations he said about you. I knew he was lying from the start— I know that you will not be with another lady but my daughter,” Mrs Doe said calmly.

Boris guffawed inside but on the outside he remained indifferent. “This woman is very foolish, she doesn’t even doubt a word I say. Her foolishness is going to land Tina in my bed,” he jeered within.
