THUD!
"Argh!!! My leg!!!" McHale screamed like a pig that was being slaughtered as he collapsed to the ground. No one even saw Kairos move, but he had already snatched the baton from McHale's hands and struck him ruthlessly with his own weapon. Doctor Desmond's eyes widened, and he panicked. "You fools! Why are you just standing there and watching? Capture him!" Kairos' icy gaze swept across the room as the remaining guards charged in. He welcomed them openly. "You..." he growled, his eyes fixed on another guard. "You once broke my fingers." Before the guard could comprehend what he was talking about, Kairos took him down the memory lane. SNAP! "Ahhh!" The guard howled in pain as Kairos twisted his wrist until the sickening sound of bones breaking resounded. He turned to the next guard, lunging forward with a taser. "Right... You used your taser on me until I passed out." The guard froze as Kairos' bloody hand reached out, quickly catching his arm. With a ruthless smile, Kairos twisted his arm and pressed the taser against his throat. ZZZAP! Even though the guard convulsed and screamed from the painful electric current, Kairos held onto the taser tightly until he passed out. THUD! Kairos didn’t even pay another glance at the guard that dropped at his feet as he turned to the others. His eyes met one of the guards' and his eyes narrowed. "And you… you held me down while they branded me." The guard was scared beyond wits and attempted to back away but— WHACK! A kick in the gut was what sent him flying across the room, crashing into a steel cabinet. SWISH! Just then, a doctor tried to jab a syringe into Kairos' neck. The latter spun around just on time, catching the guard unaware. "Have a good rest, doc," the smile on Kairos' lips widened as he grabbed the doctor's wrist and redirected the needle. "No!!!" The doctor's scream faded as the syringe pierced his flesh. His face was absolutely horrified as his eyes rolled back, and he collapsed. Doctor Desmond began to tremble. What sort of spirit has possessed this useless psycho that even the guards and doctors can't hold him down? The remaining guards and doctors were too terrified to attack him now. Kairos lifted his head and saw him; the doctor that had stood over him and peed. Trembling with rage, he clenched his fists. The doctor was paralyzed to the spot. He knew Kairos had recognized him. "W–Wait! Please!" he stammered, backing away. "I was just—just following orders!" "And I’m giving you mine," Kairos stalked forward coldly. He grabbed the metal food tray from the side table and slammed it into the man’s face once— CLANG! Then twice. CLANG! Blood and teeth sprayed across the floor. The doctor dropped to his knees. "Tsk!" Kairos clicked his tongue. "Pissing on a dying man? What a shame of humanity!" CLANG! The final blow knocked the doctor out. "Kairos, I command you to stop this madness right this instant! Do you think we really don't dare to euthanize you?!" A voice cried from behind. Kairos dropped the tray on the motionless body and turned around. When he saw the doctor that had spoken, his eyes darkened with realization and his fingers touched his forehead where the bleeding had finally stopped. His gaze moved from the doctor to the bloody toilet bowl behind. "You love slamming heads into toilets, huh? Let’s see how yours fits." The doctor tried to make a run for it but Kairos charged forward and tackled him into the bathroom walls with a loud thud that shook the tiles. BANG! Kairos grabbed him by the back of his neck and slammed his head into the toilet seat, again and again. WHAM! WHAM! WHAM! He only halted when the bloody porcelain bowl cracked and the doctor stopped moving. Seeing this scene, Doctor Desmond peed on himself and slowly tried to slither away. But he shrieked when an arm snaked around his shoulder. "Ah! Let me go. We can negotiate. I'll erase your file. I swear!" Kairos shook his head and clicked his head. "How can I let you go now, doc? The fun has only just begun." Doctor Desmond turned pale like a ghost but he didn't even get a chance to speak because Kairos recounted all their wrongdoings and subjected them to the same treatment. At that moment, Kairos was like an emotionless demon that had been let loose from hell. The entire walls of the ward soon became a deep shade of red and sorrowful cries spread everywhere. About an hour later, thick smoke curled into the sky as breaking news spread through Velora City: [A fire had suddenly erupted at Crescent Hill Asylum] By the time emergency responders were alerted, the building had already been consumed by flames, reduced to nothing but rubble. It was an event no one saw coming. The news slowly made it to the headlines, spreading beyond the Northern Region to all of Atlantis. Meanwhile, not far from the smoking ruins which was now swarmed by police vans, fire trucks, ambulances, and a convoy of reporters, a tall figure stood, silent and still. He watched the chaos one last time before turning away. Reaching into the pocket of his threadbare pants, he pulled out a battered, dust-covered mobile phone; one he'd retrieved on his way out. When the phone screen lit up, he halted, his eyes lingering on the date displayed on the screen. He had spent two full years in that forsaken asylum. During his time there, he was literally turned to a walking corpse. Everything that might have belonged to him was either stolen or destroyed. And whenever he was beaten or abused, he wouldn't react, just foolishly staring into space. But the day someone tried to take this phone or touch the chain around his neck— That was the day McHale shattered his knees. Which was the reason he always kept the rusty chain inside his clothes and had hidden this mobile phone from sight. Kairos stroked the chain around his neck. It was the last thing he had of his mother and for the phone…Latest Chapter
