Avery climbed into the driver's seat and started the engine, and the Pagani Barchetta purred to life with a deep growl that seemed to say it knew exactly how rare and expensive it was.

"Take us to the BGMH Hotel," Anna said casually as she adjusted her seat, which made Avery blink in confusion because she thought that was just a temporary spot they had rented for a single night.

Anna just gave her that same knowing smile again— not her usual playful one, but a look that suggested she knew a secret that was about to change everything— and told her to just drive.

Avery pulled out onto the main road, and the city lights danced off the carbon fiber hood as the car slid through the late night traffic like a hot blade through silk.

Ten minutes later, they pulled into the underground parking garage of the BGMH, and the security barriers were lifted the very second they approached because the security recognized their VIP status instantly.

As Avery parked the car and they stepped out, she realized this wasn't just some regular concrete parking lot, the floors were made of polished marble, the walls had soft lights built right into them, and the rows of cars looked more like a high end art gallery than a garage.

She saw classic Bentleys, Rolls Royces, and limited edition hypercars lined up everywhere she looked, and she couldn't help but mutter that this hotel definitely didn't play around when it came to luxury.

Anna didn't say a word as she walked straight toward a set of private elevators and swiped a sleek black access card that made the doors slide open immediately.

As they started to rise, Avery folded her arms and tried to make sense of it, assuming they were just stopping by to pick up some clothes or bags before heading to a real house somewhere else. Anna caught Avery’s reflection in the mirrored walls of the elevator and told her that once she actually saw the penthouse, she probably wouldn't have anything left to say. "You’ve actually been here before, Avery," Anna added calmly as the elevator slowed down, "you just didn't realize where you were at the time."

The elevator stopped with a soft chime and the doors opened directly into a wide, private hallway that didn't look anything like a normal hotel corridor.

There were no room numbers and no other doors— just one large, heavy entrance at the very end of the hall that required another swipe of the black card. The door unlocked with a quiet click, and as it swung open, Avery was hit with the warm glow of purple ambient lighting reflecting off the polished marble floors.

Huge floor to ceiling windows stretched across the entire living area, showing off the city skyline like a massive painting that looked like it had been hung by God himself.

The ceilings were incredibly high, much higher than any apartment Avery had ever seen, and crystal chandeliers hung from above to cast a soft light that blended perfectly with the violet accents of the room.

The furniture was a mix of modern white and charcoal pieces arranged with a simple, intentional look that made the whole place feel like wealth in its most controlled and quiet form. A grand piano stood near the glass, abstract art that whispered "expensive" lined the walls, and a built in wine display glowed with its own purple backlighting while the air smelled faintly like expensive sandalwood.

Avery didn't even want to step inside at first because she was so overwhelmed by the scale of it all, and she asked Anna if she was absolutely sure this was where they actually lived.

Anna walked in like she owned the place and explained that the other room they had been staying in was just a temporary choice, and that this penthouse was their actual home.

Avery walked in slowly, her heels clicking softly against the marble as she pointed out that people usually only rent places like this for a month or two at most. "We don't rent it, Avery,"

Anna said with a shrug, and when Avery’s eyes snapped to her in shock, Anna just smiled, confirming that they actually owned the entire floor.

Avery’s heart started beating faster as she walked deeper into the room and noticed Anna’s personal things— books she recognized, clothes folded neatly on a chair, and even a framed photo from school sitting near the window.

This wasn't a hotel stay, this was a life. She felt small as she took in the view again, realizing that while everyone at school had spent years calling Robert a pauper, an orphan, or a cleaner, he had actually been living high above everyone else this whole time.

Anna walked up beside her and told her to make herself feel at home since she was staying with them now, and then she grabbed Avery’s hand and started pulling her down the hallway to show her her new room.

When Anna opened the door to the guest suite, Avery actually stopped breathing for a second because the room was literally larger than her entire apartment back in the city.

It had soft gray walls, a king sized bed facing its own private balcony, a walk in closet big enough for an entire wardrobe, and a bathroom with a soaking tub that overlooked the skyline.

Avery asked quietly if this room was really hers, and Anna just grinned and joked that if she didn't like it, she could always take the other one with the ocean view instead. Avery just exhaled slowly, feeling completely overwhelmed by the reality of it all, and whispered to herself, "Who are you really, Robert?"

Meanwhile, back at the auction hall, Robert hadn't left when the girls did, instead, he stayed in his seat and watched the room with a very careful eye.

He scanned every table and every exit, looking at the business tycoons and the old money families to see if anyone looked out of place or suspicious.

He wondered if he could truly trust his father’s word that there were elite men guarding Anna and Avery, but since his father never lied, he knew the protection was likely real. Still, Robert believed in verifying things for himself, so he stood up calmly and walked outside to where the valet was waiting.

The valet hurried over respectfully and asked if he should bring the red Ferrari around, and Robert nodded as the car was brought forward in flawless condition.

As the valet handed over the keys, Robert leaned in close and whispered something that only the young man could hear: "If you try to swing at me in thirty seconds and act like you're angry, I’ll wire one million dollars into your account right now." The valet blinked in total shock, but Robert kept a neutral face and explained the plan— he was going to accuse the valet of scratching the car, and he wanted the valet to get aggressive in return.

Robert's tone shifted instantly, and he suddenly snapped at the valet, raising his voice so everyone nearby would turn and look.

He accused the man of scratching the expensive Ferrari, and even though the valet was shaking and trying to deny it, Robert shoved him lightly to escalate the situation. The valet’s face changed as he realized this was his chance at a million dollars, so he raised his arm and pulled back his fist as if he was about to throw a punch directly at Robert’s face.

But just before the fist could connect, a hand shot out of the shadows and grabbed the valet’s wrist mid air with a grip that was firm and completely unmoving.

Robert didn't even flinch as the punch was stopped, he just slowly turned his head to see who was holding the valet’s arm.

The grip tightened just enough to show total control, and a calm, deep voice spoke up from behind them.

“Sir, I don't think that the violence would be necessary.”

Robert looked into the eyes of the man who had appeared out of nowhere, knowing that he had finally found exactly what he was looking for.

Robert looked around at the group for a second. Anna was barely hanging on, leaning so hard against Avery that it looked like gravity had suddenly doubled for her. Professor Darby looked exhausted but still had that fascinated glint in his eyes, and Rose just had this quiet, wide eyed amazement that hadn't faded all night.Robert smiled. “Well,” he said calmly, “I think we’ve had enough excitement for one night.”Anna mumbled something that sounded like she was agreeing, but it might have just been sleep talking.Robert turned slightly toward the butler. “Please show Professor Darby to his room.”The butler gave a respectful nod. “Of course, sir.”Professor Darby adjusted his glasses and followed the butler down one of the long marble corridors. The lighting was softer here— warmer and a bit more private, like a hallway in a luxury hotel designed for heads of state. They stopped in front of a massive wooden door framed in dark gold designs, and the butler swung it open.Professor Da

  • CHAPTER 102: The View from the Throne

Robert pushed his chair back and stood up. The sound wasn't loud, but in a room that big, it was enough to get everyone’s attention. Almost instinctively, everyone else started standing up too, their chairs sliding across the polished floor one after another.Anna was up first, then Avery. Professor Darby took a second to straighten his jacket, and Rose followed him, still looking around the dining hall like she was afraid it might vanish if she blinked. Then the butler stepped up behind them like a shadow.Robert gave them a small, relaxed smile. “Come on,” he said, and started walking. The Graham Oasis was even more intense at night. The hallways had a soft, golden glow that bounced off the marble floors, making them look like mirrors. Through the massive glass walls, you could see fountains lit up in white light and gardens that looked more like outdoor art galleries.Anna kept turning her head from side to side. “Okay,” she muttered, mostly to herself. “I will definitely get lost

  • CHAPTER 101: Dining with the Graham's

The silverware was clinking, and everyone was talking in that low, happy way you do when the food is so good that it actually calms you down. For a while, nobody said much— they were all just busy experiencing a meal that most people only see in movies.Anna wasn’t the type to sit in silence for long, though. She dropped her fork after a massive bite of steak and just shook her head. "Okay," she said, looking dead serious. "This has to be illegal. Seriously, someone should be in jail for making a steak this good. There should be laws against this."Robert turned to her looking half amused. "Illegal?"Avery chuckled softly beside her.Professor Darby smiled politely while cutting another piece of lamb.Rose ate quietly, still taking everything in— the room, the food, the fact that the boy she had raised was the heir to the most powerful family on earth.Anna took another bite and leaned back again."Yeah," Anna said, pointing her fork at him like she was making a legal argument. "It ju

  • CHAPTER 100: The Table of a Trillionaire

When the doors opened, Anna actually stopped breathing. It wasn't on purpose, she gasped and her lungs just seemed to stall out.“...Oh my God,” she whispered.Avery, Rose, and the Professor were right behind her, and they all had that same reaction of silence. It was that heavy kind of quiet you get when your brain is trying to make sense of something it wasn't built to process. The dining hall was massive— easily the size of a cathedral— with a dome ceiling fifty feet up covered in gold leaf murals, kings and leaders placing down their crowns and bowing before a single throne. Huge diamond chandeliers hung down like frozen waterfalls, and the polished black marble floor was so clean it looked like a mirror. But the real showstopper was the table. It was a single, fifty foot slab of black obsidian with gold designs that stretched almost the whole length of the hall.“That table has to be forty feet long,” Anna muttered.“Fifty,” Professor Darby corrected softly, squinting through hi

The Ocean Gallery started to fade behind them as they followed the butler down yet another long corridor. Anna was still looking over her shoulder every few seconds.“I’m definitely going to be dreaming about that whale shark tonight,” she muttered.Avery laughed. “You’re acting like we just stepped onto another planet.”“It felt like one,” Anna shot back.Professor Darby was still shaking his head as he walked. “In forty years of studying history,” he said quietly, “I never imagined I’d just casually stroll past artifacts that national museums would literally start wars over.”Rose had a faint smile on her face, but the look in her eyes showed she was just as amazed. “This doesn't even feel like a house anymore. It’s more like another world.”The butler slowed down a bit and turned back to face them. “If I may ask... do you all enjoy music?”Anna blinked, caught off guard. “Music?”“Classical, perhaps? Orchestral? The opera?”Avery’s face lit up immediately. “Actually, yeah. I love i

The butler led them down a long hallway lined with polished marble and soft golden lighting. Even the air in this part of the Oasis felt different— cooler, quieter, almost sacred.Anna kept glancing left and right like someone walking through a museum they weren’t supposed to be in.“This place just keeps getting bigger,” she muttered.Avery laughed softly. “You’re acting like a kid in a theme park.”“I feel like one,” Anna said immediately. “I thought the medical wing was impressive, but this… this feels like something out of a movie.”The butler stopped in front of a pair of tall elevator doors made entirely of brushed silver.“If you would all step inside,” he said politely. The doors opened silently. The interior of the elevator was larger than some hotel rooms. Soft lights ran along the walls, and the floor was made of a single piece of polished black stone.Professor Darby stepped inside slowly, adjusting his glasses as he looked around.“This elevator alone probably costs more
