*****

About ten minutes later, the newlywed couple arrived at a landlocked region so breathtaking that it almost looked unreal.

Nature and futuristic architecture blended seamlessly, creating scenery that looked as though it had been carefully designed by someone unwilling to tolerate imperfection.

Towering trees lined the roads, crystal-clear streams flowed gently beside the stone pathways, and elegant villas rested peacefully in the distance.

Then, at the very center of everything, a massive mountain rose proudly toward the sky.

This place was Wellington Manor, the wealthiest district in the entire Ironstone.

A place famous for its terrifying exclusivity, insane property prices, extreme security, and luxurious lifestyle.

Ordinary people could work for ten lifetimes and still fail to afford a bathroom there.

The moment Nicholas saw the manor’s name boldly carved into the first gate, a flicker of surprise flickered in his eyes.

After all…

This was where the villa Jason Hunter had given him was located.

But aside from that tiny reaction, Nicholas quickly returned to being composed and unreadable.

Meanwhile, Kelly continued driving through the estate as security checkpoints appeared one after another.

They passed through the first gate, then the second, and finally the third, each checkpoint looking stricter than the previous one, with guards carefully inspecting every vehicle before allowing passage.

Finally, they arrived at their destination… a beautiful duplex located near the outer edge of the manor.

Although it rested at the base of the mountain rather than the summit, the scenery surrounding it still looked astonishingly beautiful.

The house resembled something painted by an artist obsessed with luxury.

Unlit bollard lights lined the pathways, fresh flowers decorated the surroundings, and even the air itself felt cleaner and fresher.

It was peaceful and quiet, completely separated from the noise and pressure of the outside city.

It was the kind of place people photographed endlessly while pretending not to be jealous.

As soon as the BMW parked, both doors opened almost simultaneously.

Then Kelly stepped out elegantly, followed by Nicholas.

Once they got down, Kelly instinctively turned toward him, expecting him to be stunned; after all, anyone visiting Wellington Manor for the first time reacted dramatically.

Even Kelly herself, despite living here for years, still occasionally found herself amazed by the beauty surrounding her.

So naturally, she expected Nicholas’s eyes to light up with shock, disbelief, and admiration.

But…

‘Huh?’ Kelly couldn’t help but blink unconsciously.

‘Why isn’t he reacting?’ she thought in a daze.

Forget being awestruck… Nicholas didn’t even look mildly impressed.

If anything, he merely stood there calmly, his backpack carelessly slung over his shoulder as if he were in the parking lot of an ordinary convenience store.

He quietly observed his surroundings with a relaxed, slightly bored expression before slowly lifting his head.

Then unhurriedly, his eyes traced upward toward the mountain’s peak, where a massive mansion stood prominently at the very top… Villa No. 001.

The mansion overlooked the entire manor like a silent king watching over its territory.

Even from a distance, its scale alone felt oppressive.

Witnessing Nicholas finally looking upward, Kelly’s lips couldn’t help but curve slightly into a faint smirk.

‘Let’s see how long you can keep pretending,’ she thought inwardly, believing that Nicholas would certainly react now.

After all, that villa was practically legendary within Ironstone City, a place where countless wealthy figures dreamed of setting foot.

With this, Kelly waited quietly for Nicholas to embarrass himself, but then…

“So that’s the Villa No. 001,” Nicholas muttered to himself in a nonchalant, observant tone. “It’s nice… but not really as impressive as I expected.”

‘This…’

Kelly nearly tripped over her own foot, her mouth opening slightly in disbelief.

She had always been an incredibly detached person, maintaining her composure no matter the situation.

Yet now…

She could only gawk at Nicholas in complete disbelief, the usual coldness on her face nowhere to be seen.

And honestly, how was she still supposed to maintain her composure even after hearing something so ridiculous?

It was public knowledge that Villa No. 001, located at the summit of Wellington Manor, wasn’t merely a luxurious mansion people admired from afar.

No.

That place symbolized the absolute peak of status and authority in Ironstone City.

It represented wealth powerful enough to crush families overnight, influence capable of shaking the city itself, and connections ordinary people couldn’t even dream of touching.

Yet this same place… this same legendary mansion that countless elites desperately wished to enter at least once in their lives had just been casually labeled by Nicholas as “not so special.”

For a brief second, Kelly genuinely suspected she must have heard wrong.

After all, even the city’s prime minister and the patriarchs of the most powerful families would never dare speak so carelessly about Villa No. 001.

Yet when she looked back at Nicholas, she saw no arrogance, deliberate showing off, or pretentious act on his face.

He simply stood there lazily with his backpack hanging against his shoulder, staring at the mansion with the same expression someone might use while looking at a decent restaurant online.

That somehow made it even more unbelievable.

“You…” she finally blurted out before she could stop herself, suddenly pointing at Nicholas sharply.

Nicholas’s brow twitched instantly at her sudden outburst, then he turned toward her, only to pause after seeing her expression.

Kelly was actually fuming right now.

“Is something… wrong?” he asked hesitantly, genuinely confused by the sudden hostility directed at him.

Kelly instantly scoffed. “Something is definitely wrong with you,” she shot back coldly.

Nicholas looked at her awkwardly, clearly taken by surprise.

Then he frowned slightly. ‘What exactly did I even do now?’ he wondered inwardly.

Meanwhile, Kelly looked at him with growing disbelief.

The more she stared at him and recalled his words, the more annoyed she became.

Most people tried acting humble while secretly showing off every chance they got, but Nicholas somehow managed to sound sincere while saying the most outrageous things imaginable.

It felt absurd.

Before Nicholas could think further, Kelly forcefully regained her composure and scoffed again, her expression turning colder by the second.

“I can already tell you’re one of those pretentious braggards,” she said bluntly, a fresh wave of dislike rising within her.

Nicholas, “_”
