The heavy oak door of the Sawyer villa slammed open, the draft rattling the glass chandelier in the grand foyer.

Nala marched into the living room, her heels clicking violently against the white marble floor. Her hands were shaking as she clutched her leather designer purse to her chest. Behind her, Martha and Ethan barged through the door, their faces flushed with a manic, aggressive energy.

Declan stood near the floor-to-ceiling windows, holding a single, steamed mug of black coffee. He turned his head, his dark eyes taking in the storm charging towards him.

"You Liar! you tried to ruin everything today, didn't you?" Nala demanded, her voice cracking as she stormed across the rug.

"You couldn't bear to see Brody take the stage! So you had to mess with the control booth server to humiliate my family in front of the banking board!"

Declan set his mug down on the glass side table with a faint, quiet clink.

"I didn't sabotage the server, Nala," Declan said calmly, his voice a steady anchor in the middle of her frantic shrieks.

"The Aegis Core hit a buffer overflow because Brody forced a high-frequency demonstration on an uncalibrated network. If I hadn't bypassed the logic leak from the back room, that screen would have stayed dead for the rest of the day."

"Liar!" Martha shrieked, strutting into the middle of the room with her arms crossed, her eyes practically bulging with hatred. "You saw Brody receiving the applause he deserved, and your petty, jealous little heart couldn't take it! You’re a parasite who can't stand seeing the woman who feeds you succeed!"

Ethan tossed his jacket onto the couch, snorting with laughter. "Give it up, Declan. Brody explained the whole thing to us backstage. That offshore data stream you showed Nala? It’s a standard international security vault required for the fifty-million-dollar deal. You don't even know how enterprise banking works, man. You’re just throwing mud because you’re getting replaced."

Declan looked at Ethan, then at Martha, before finally fixing his eyes on Nala. A deep, heavy ache throbbed behind his ribs. He felt the cold, suffocating weight of their collective contempt and hearing his wife dismiss his direct warning, a warning meant to save her from federal prison, stung worse than any physical strike.

"Nala," Declan said, stepping closer to her, his voice dropping into a razor-sharp whisper. "Forget your mother. Forget Ethan. Look at me. I spent three years writing that system. That secondary data route Brody opened isn't a vault. It’s an active, unencrypted mirror line routing real-time transaction logs directly into an offshore server cluster in Eastern Europe. Brody sold out the network to pay off Cromwell Capital 's hidden debts."

Nala flinched. For a fraction of a second, the raw terror she had felt in the control room flashed back across her features. Her breath caught in her throat.

Then, the front door unlocked with a smooth electronic chime.

Brody Cromwell stepped into the foyer, wearing a crisp, fresh charcoal suit, a bottle of vintage champagne tucked casually under his arm. He took one look at the tension in the room and flashed a broad, charismatic smile.

"Still trying to poison her mind, Declan?" Brody asked smoothly, walking right up to Nala and slipping a confident, heavy arm around her waist. He kissed her cheek gently, whispering just loud enough for Declan to hear:

"Don't let him stress you, babe. The board signed off on the fifty million ten minutes ago. We won."

Nala felt Brody ' warm arm around her, felt the weight of his wealth, his status, and the immediate validation her family craved. The flicker of fear in her eyes vanished, replaced by an icy, absolute resolve.

She reached into her purse, pulled out a white leather folder, and slapped it onto the coffee table with a loud, echoey THUD.

"I'm done, Declan," Nala said, her voice turning completely numb. "I'm done listening to your conspiracy theories, done carrying your bitterness, and done letting you drag my family down. Sign them."

Declan looked down at the table. Printed in dark, bold lettering across the cover of the document were three words: DIVORCE AND SEVERANCE AGREEMENT.

A heavy silence descended upon the living room. Martha smirked, leaning against the archway with a satisfied sneer. Ethan pulled out his phone, ready to record the moment. Brody leaned back, popping open a bottle of champagne with smug triumph.

"You leave with nothing," Martha added, her tone devoid of a single drop of mercy. "You came into this marriage with a single duffel bag, and you will leave with a single duffel bag. Sawyer Dynamics owes you nothing. My daughter owes you nothing."

Declan stood entirely still. He looked at the white folder, then raised his head to meet his wife's eyes one last time.

"If I sign this paper, Nala," Declan said, his voice flat and terrifyingly calm, "the invisible shield between Sawyer's Dynamics and Cromwell Capital disappears. Once I cut legal ties, I will no longer maintain the biometric safety overrides keeping your software stable. The moment the central bank grid hits full traffic, Brody’s framework will collapse."

"Oh, shut up with the dramatic threats!" Martha barked from the side. "You think you're God? Brody built the company! You're nothing!"

"Sign it, Declan," Nala demanded, refusing to meet his eyes, her jaw set tight. "Take everything that belongs to you and leave."

Declan looked at her for three long seconds. The last lingering shred of his heart reserved only for Nala Sawyer died right there on the marble floor.

"As you wish," He stepped forward, picked up the silver pen resting on the folder, and uncapped it with a soft click.

Without a single tremor in his hand, Declan flipped to the final page and signed his name in clean, bold, uninterrupted strokes.

Declan Wilde.

He tossed the pen onto the paper, closed the leather binder, and pushed it back across the table toward Nala.

"It's done," Declan said.

Brody let out a loud, arrogant laugh, clapping his hands together. "Beautiful! The parasite is officially excised!" He reached into his pocket, pulled out a single fifty-dollar bill, and tossed it onto the floor at Declan's feet. "For your cab ride out of our neighborhood, buddy."

Martha cackled, while Ethan shook his head in disgust. Nala grabbed the signed document, clutching it to her chest as if it were a royal decree, her eyes fixed firmly on the wall behind Declan.

Declan didn't bend down to pick up the fifty-dollar bill. He didn't even glance at it. He turned on his heel and walked towards the stairs.

"Hey!" Brody called out, stepping forward with an arrogant smirk, blocking the hallway slightly. "Where do you think you're going, contractor? The front door is that way."

Declan stopped, turning his head to look Brody straight in the eyes.

“To get my Duffel bag and whatever else that's mine” Declan said, his voice carrying a dark, chilling resonance that made Brody's smile falter.

Brody scoffed, trying to hide the sudden chill running down his spine. "Yeah, go collect your trash"

Declan brushed past him without a word and walked up the grand staircase, his footfalls silent against the plush carpet.

He pushed open the heavy double doors of the master bedroom, the room he had shared with Nala for three years. The quiet space still held the faint scent of her high-end lavender perfume.

Declan walked over to the mahogany wardrobe and pulled a simple, worn black duffel bag from the top shelf. He set it on the bed, looking around the expansive, luxurious room.

A bitter, quiet smile touched the corners of his lips as memories flooded his mind.

Three years ago, when he first took a covert leave from the Iron Gate Defense Council to operate in the civilian sector, Nala Sawyer had been nothing more than an ambitious, bright-eyed computer science graduate working out of a small rental office. Her eyes had burned with pure, unadulterated passion when she talked about her dreams of building a tech empire.

At first, being with her was merely part of his strategic civilian cover. But as time passed, her fierce drive had captured his heart. Declan had made a silent vow to himself in that tiny garage: I will make this woman the most powerful, respected figure in the financial world.

Building the Aegis Core for her was only the very beginning of his master plan. He had laid down secretive corporate networks and prepared global defense connections that would have elevated Nala Sawyer to a status where even international moguls and state governors would bow before her.

Yet, at the very first taste of superficial power and luxury, Nala had traded away three years of genuine devotion, throwing him out like a piece of worthless trash for a fraudulent liar in an Italian suit.

Declan let out a low, dark chuckle. The sheer, tragic irony of her foolishness was almost poetic.

Slinging the duffel bag over his broad shoulder, Declan headed down into the basement
