Tonight, the Michael family residence was very busy. All of the Michael family members were gathering for dinner. And there was one young man who sat alone. Even in a crowded room, he still felt lonely. That young man was … Lukas.

“You know, our family is not in a good condition.” A man with a mustache started talking, he sat at the end. A sign that he was the head of the family. “But that won’t make us bankrupt, let alone running out of money. I’ve been looking for a way out and I’ve found it. There is only one and I’m sure everyone already knows what the solution to our problem is."

The man now sipped the wine in front of him, then smiled. He looked at his wife and children with feelings of quite satisfaction.

“A marriage between two families?” guessed the man who was much younger than the first man.

The man with the thick mustache snapped his fingers and smiled quite broadly again.

“You are my son who I can rely on the most, Brian.”

Hearing that flattery, Lukas didn’t feel jealous at all. Because he had listened too often to the praise his father had for his younger brother.

“I plan to establish an even closer relationship with the Lewis family, because only with this will the Lewis family be able to help us from bankruptcy. And because of that, I plan to marry my son to a daughter from the Lewis family, her name is … Amanda Lewis. Do you think this is a good way out?” asked Lukas’ father.

 Lukas nodded quite confidently, feeling ready for this responsibility. Marrying Amanda Lewis was a sure thing to happen, and Lukas didn’t mind at all. Because, Amanda Lewis was indeed the girlfriend he had been dating for the last five years.

“Tch! Are you serious?” a blue-haired young woman glanced at Lukas with a disdainful look. “He’s just an adopted son, Dad. How could you tell him to marry Amanda? Aren’t  you afraid that Amanda’s wealth will be taken over by him, and our company will be taken over by him too?” the woman continued.

“I’m not that petty, Renata. I know that the Michael family is a family that has made a big contribution to my life. And I already consider you like my own family, so how could I throw you all away after my marriage to Amanda?”

“Who is going to marry you to Amanda, Lukas?” suddenly Mr. Michael spoke.

“What do you mean, Dad? Doesn’t everyone in this house know that Amanda is in a relationship with this man, Dad? So, who else would Amanda marry if not this … unimportant man?” Renata asked.

Lukas glanced at Renata with a disapproving look, that was the least he could do. Responding to Renata’s words was clearly impossible. It was only possible that Lukas would be punished to stand outside the house all night.

“Didn’t I tell you that I would marry Amanda to my son? Do you think Lukas is my son and I have considered him my son all this time?”

“What do you mean, Dad?” shocked Lukas in the end. How could he not? Mr. Michael’s words really confused Lukas.

“I will marry Amanda to Brian. Is that still unclear? I only have one son in this family, he is Brian Michael. And you, Lukas … Didn’t you know from the start of the reason why you were adopted as a child in this family? So stop expecting more and feel like you are part of this family.”

“But Dad. Amanda is my girlfriend. How could you marry Amanda to Brian? I’m sure Amanda will never agree to any of this!”

And immediately Mr. Michael smiled meaningfully, he didn’t answer. He just stood so arrogantly.

“The day after tomorrow is my birthday, I want each of you to give me a luxurious gift. I want to prove to the world that my children are successful children who are able to make their parents proud, are devoted and love their parents. I hope you understand this.”

“Brian and I will definitely make you proud, Dad. But, Lukas … tsk! Where would he get the money from? I’m sure he won’t even be able to buy you a newspaper. He’s useless unemployed man after all!” Renata said.

Lukas fell silent again, he ignored Renata’s words. He tried not to get provoked by anger at all.

“Lukas, can we meet the day after tomorrow? I want to talk to you.”

Brian left after saying that, while Lukas chose to leave too.

In the Michael family, everyone was working. Mr. Michael and Brian worked for a company, while Mrs. Michael and Renata managed a boutique that had been established for a long time. As for Lukas, he didn’t have any job, apart from taking care of the Michael family’s big house and taking care of their food. So Lukas had no income at all.

“Ah, Lukas, where are you going? Can you get some food for me? I am very hungry.”

Lukas, who was about to open the door, tilted his face, he did not immediately agree to Renata’s request.

“Are you deaf? Aren’t you a servant in this residence? Or do you dare to refuse my orders? Immediately do what I want, don’t make me wait, Lukas!”

“Okay, the food will be ready in five minutes.”

While keeping a straight face, Lukas finally left. He prepared the food for Renata as Renata wanted.

Meanwhile in the kitchen, Brian was already there. He was drinking a cocktail while looking at Lukas with his cynical look.

When Lukas passed him, Brian accidentally spilled the cocktail so that it spilled on Lukas’ clothes.

“Oh my God!” Lukas shouted in surprise.

“Sorry, I did it on purpose.” Brian grinned happily seeing Lukas looking more dirty and miserable than usual. Then Brian smashed the crystal glass on the floor perfectly. “Can you clean it, Lukas? Please, I did it on purpose so you could be even more unlucky today.”
