“Find the object in which the spirit resides!” commanded the Spirit of the Padlock. “A being of this caliber requires a physical vessel in the real world. A stamp? A pen? Or the printing press in this room?”
Harry swept his gaze around the chaotic room. He focused his inner eye to see deeper. Lines of a blackish-purple aura could be seen spreading from every corner of the fourth floor, seeping out from the cracks in the tiles and converging at a single point in the center of the room. The stamp was carved in the shape of a small dragon’s head with a fragile black wooden handle, giving off a pungent smell of rotting ink. “That’s it!” cried Harry. However, realizing his secret had been uncovered, Mr. Thomas—who was still in a trance—roared loudly. His voice shook the window panes on the fourth floor until they rattled. The red ink gushing from his body now formed a gigantic wave. Sheets of paper scattered through the air were sucked into the wave of ink, transforming into sharp strips of paper that whirled like a miniature tornado. "Don’t let him get near the financial statements!" roared the evil spirit through Mr. Thomas’s mouth. A storm of sharp pieces of paper rained down on Harry. "Harry! Get down!" shouted a voice from the glass door on the fourth floor. BANG! The metal door to the emergency staircase suddenly burst open. Jack appeared, panting heavily; his face was deathly pale, yet his eyes burned with reckless determination. In both hands, he clutched a large fire extinguisher. Without wasting a moment, Jack pulled out the safety pin and aimed the nozzle of the extinguisher directly at the wave of ink and storm of paper bearing down on Harry. PSSSSSSHHH! Thick white foam sprayed vigorously, cutting through the dark air, striking the swirl of red ink and causing it to congeal instantly. The sharp sheets of paper, now covered in fire-extinguishing foam, suddenly lost their mystical power and fell scattering across the floor like ordinary rubbish. “Jack?!” Harry stared in disbelief. “I told you to wait in the lobby!” “I’m not mad; I was just waiting in the lobby!” Jack shouted back amidst the billowing foam. “I heard the sound of a table shattering from downstairs! How could I possibly let you die here all on your own?!” “Watch out, Jack!” "O-Oh my God... Mr Thomas, why’s your head spinning like that?!" Jack screamed hysterically, his legs shaking so violently that he nearly dropped the fire extinguisher. This was Harry's golden opportunity. Taking advantage of the creature’s momentary distraction caused by Jack’s arrival, Harry ran and leapt over the shattered desk. “Boy! Smash the base of the stamp! That’s the fulcrum of the seal!” shouted the Spirit of the Padlock, flying alongside him. Harry gripped the Silver Dragon Dagger with both hands, aiming the blade—which glinted with a silvery sheen—directly at the copper dragon seal on the round table. Mr. Thomas realized the danger and tried to turn away, but it was too late. “Get out of this office!” Harry bellowed. CRASH! The blade of the Silver Dragon Dagger pierced right through the center of the seal. The fourth floor was instantly bathed in a blinding silvery light. A piercing, ear-splitting scream echoed from within the seal, which had split in two. Thick, black ink spurted out like blood from a gaping wound. “NOOOO!” The evil spirit’s final scream slowly faded, evaporating into a wisp of smoke that vanished, swallowed up by the night air. At the same time, the dark purple mist that had enveloped the entire fourth-floor room suddenly dissipated without a trace. CRASH! Mr Thomas’s body collapsed onto the floor, returning to its normal anatomical position. The pen in his hand slipped from his grasp, and his eyes were tightly shut. Harry sat on the floor, panting heavily, sweat soaking through his clothes. The Silver Dragon Dagger in his hand dimmed, reverting to an ordinary old dagger, as if it had lost its power. Jack walked slowly towards Harry, his eyes still wide as he stared at Mr. Thomas, who lay there helplessly. “Harry?… is Mr Thomas dead?” “No, he’s just fainted,” replied Harry, catching his breath. Jack let out a sharp exhale upon hearing Harry's words. He felt a sense of relief, then turned his gaze to the dagger in his friend’s hand. "Harry..." Jack’s voice trembled violently. "What... what on earth are you keeping? And... where did you get that dagger from?" Harry took a deep breath, then looked at the Spirit of the Padlock, which was now floating leisurely above the table with its arms crossed over its chest, giving him a faint smile. “It’s a long story, Jack,” Harry muttered wearily. “But one thing’s for sure… it looks like we’ll have to retype our financial reports from scratch.” The silvery smoke from the shattered copper dragon seal on the table had not yet completely cleared. Harry breathed a sigh of relief, wiping his forehead with the back of his trembling hand. In front of him, Mr. Thomas, who had earlier collapsed, slowly began to move his fingers. However, that sense of relief did not last long. “It’s not over yet, lad! Don’t relax just yet!” cried the Spirit of the Padlock suddenly, his shrill voice shattering the silence on the fourth floor. “What now?!” Harry screamed in panic. “Look at your boss with your sixth sense!” Harry focused his gaze. His Level 1 Inner Eye automatically sprang into action once more. Just as he’d suspected! Inside Mr. Thomas’s chest, the blue glow of life—which had previously been dim—was now growing fainter, rapidly being sucked away through the strands of blackish-red aura embedded in his neck. All those aura threads converged at a single point: the antique gold-tipped pen clenched tightly in Mr. Thomas’s right hand! It seemed that the shattered dragon seal had merely been an outer physical vessel. The core of its malevolent energy had escaped and locked itself inside that old black wooden pen! Harry chuckled softly. He leaned back against the bed, running his hand over the iron padlock that hung warmly against his pubic bone. The fear and awkwardness that had once crept into his mind whenever this ghostly figure appeared had now vanished completely.“But honestly… After saving Mr Thomas, my spirit has been reignited many times over. I feel that only I can handle all of this.”“You cowardly lad, you were indeed destined to look after all this. Like it or not, only you can carry out this task,” hissed the Spirit of the Padlock.“But I’m really grateful, you know! If it weren’t for you, I might have found it even harder. Thank you for your help,” said Harry sincerely, looking into the Spirit’s red eyes. "You’re such a strange lad! Suddenly thanking me like this.""If Old Grandad hadn’t acted quickly to summon the Barong mask, that silver mirror might well have sucked my brain dry."The Spirit of the Padlock tur

“Grandad, have a rest here for a while, will you? Later, if any locals pass by or the police turn up, just tell them you’d had a fall,” said Harry.Just as Harry was about to step forward to pick up the enchanted mirror, which now lay subdued within the Barong Mask’s aura, the shadowy figure of the Spirit of the Padlock floated down, breaking through the front door of the old pawnshop. The spirit’s ethereal form grew intensely dense and tense. It stared intently towards the cashier’s desk deep within the dark building.“Boy… come here,” called the Spirit of the Padlock in a faintly trembling voice—a tone Harry rarely heard from the usually haughty spirit.“What is it, old man?” asked Harry, stopping in his tracks.“Look at this,” said the spirit of the Padlock, pointing with his ethereal fingers.Harry stepped inside the dimly lit shop, leaving Jack, who was still anxiously keeping watch outside with his grandfather. On

Harry plucked up the courage to face his fear. Behind the terrifying shadows of the demons, he recalled many beautiful moments. The sense of relief and satisfaction at having succeeded in protecting another person’s life was very real. And it could not be replaced by any illusion.“But I… won’t let anyone else die right before my eyes!” Harry shouted, his voice booming and shattering the silence! The illusory world shook violently. Harry looked up; his gaze, which had been dim moments before, now burned with intensity.“How do we fight it this time, Old Man?!” cried Harry, demanding guidance from the Spirit of the Padlock.“Try using the Oath-Removing Pen you’ve just acquired!” replied the Spirit of the Lock swiftly.“Use the purifying energy of that object! Recall some of the ancient incantations your grandmother used to chant when she was purifying a place! Use one of them!” "I don’t know if this will work or not… but Gran

In Harry's inner vision, the black aura grew denser and darted sharply towards a point deep within the alley. The air inside the car suddenly felt colder, so much so that Jack’s breath formed a thin mist.He walked down the narrow, cobbled alley. The sound of his footsteps echoed faintly. The further he walked, the more the foul stench of rotting rat carcasses and the smell of old rust stung his nostrils. At the end of the alley stood a two-story building made of old ironwood, with a sign in front reading, ‘Medal Pawnshop & Art Gallery.'The cloud of black smoke he had been chasing earlier had, it turned out, gathered thickly above the roof of the building. It swirled round and round like a mysterious whirlwind, as if it were about to burst through a gap in the roof tiles!“The thing in there… is calling to its kin,” whispered the Spirit of the Padlock, appearing beside Harry's shoulder. “There’s another antique locked inside this building. And that cloud of black smoke will be the s

Suddenly, the sound of shattering glass rang out from the meeting room window at the end of the fourth-floor corridor! It wasn’t a direct attack on Harry, but a cloud of thick black smoke that had just burst through the glass. The smoke billowed on the wind, cutting through the darkness of the city this night. “That’s the guardian spirit of yet another cursed artifact that has just been awakened! We must capture it!” cried the Spirit of the Padlock.Harry turned around briefly to check that Boss Thomas was still breathing steadily beneath the neon-lit floor. He then ran down to the lobby via the emergency staircase. In the lobby, Jack was still standing restlessly by the glass door. As soon as he saw Harry appear, his shirt stained with ink and his hand wrapped in a makeshift bandage, Jack nearly jumped out of his skin.“Harry! Are you all right?! There was a loud crash from upstairs just now, and then the lights went out completely!” Jack stammered in a panic."I’ll explain later,

The padlock around Harry's neck emitted an intensely bright blue light. The red smoke, shaped like an old man’s face, was forcibly sucked back into the black wooden barrel of the pen.The pen trembled violently for a few seconds before its red light finally faded completely, transforming into an elegant, pure golden hue.A mystical echo sounded softly within Harry's mind.[Purification Successful: Oath-Breaking Pen][Contract Formed: Spirit of the Writer of Destiny Successfully Subdued][Soul Capacity Increased by Level 1: Collect 2 out of 3 souls to level up]Harry let out a very long sigh of relief. The light on the fourth floor slowly returned to normal. The neon lights flickered briefly before finally shining brightly. He picked up the antique pen. Now, as he held it, the deadly chill had given way to a warm sensation that was submissive and obedient to his will.“Not bad work for an office worker who can only sit around,” praised the Spirit of the Padlock with a faint smile.“You
