She pulled out a notebook from her bag and handed it to Alex. Inside were detailed notes: dates, times, locations, observations. It read like a private investigator's case file.

"You've been building evidence against your own husband," Alex said, impressed despite himself.

"I've been trying to understand what was happening to my life," Anna corrected. "I didn't know about Marcus until yesterday. I didn't know about Sarah being my twin. But I knew David was lying to me about something major. So I documented everything, hoping eventually it would make sense."

Alex flipped through the notebook. The detail was extraordinary, Anna had tracked David's movements, his phone calls, his cash withdrawals, everything. If this was genuine, it was an invaluable resource.

"Sarah," Alex said, "can I talk to Anna alone for a minute?"

Sarah hesitated, looking between her sister and her cousin. Finally she nodded and left the room.

Once they were alone, Alex sat across from Anna and studied her carefull

Rodriguez drove them back to San Francisco, the bridge traffic starting to pick up with early commuters heading to work."What happens now?" Rodriguez asked."Now we face the consequences," Alex said. "Tomorrow's press conference will be just the beginning. There will be investigations, lawsuits, criminal trials. The company will take massive hits. Some board members will resign. Some clients will leave. It's going to be ugly.""But necessary," Adrian added."But necessary," Alex agreed.Rodriguez dropped them at Castellano Industries headquarters. The building looked the same as it always had, gleaming glass and steel, a monument to corporate success. But Alex saw it differently now. It wasn't just a building representing achievement. It was also a monument to stolen dreams and buried crimes.Vincent was already in the conference room when they arrived, despite the early hour. He had coffee brewing and documents spread across the table."I've drafted three versions of tomorrow's stat

  • CHAPTER SEVENTY-NINE: THE CONNECTIONS

"Sorry, ma'am," the security officer said. "But we were briefed by Rodriguez's team an hour ago. We're actually FBI agents embedded in your security detail. Catherine Castellano, you're under arrest for conspiracy to commit kidnapping, money laundering, and racketeering."The warehouse doors burst open, FBI agents flooding in from multiple entrances. Catherine stood frozen as agents moved to handcuff her. Her eyes met Alex's across the warehouse floor."This isn't over," she said coldly. "I have lawyers. Resources. Connections. I'll fight this.""You're welcome to try," Alex replied. "But unlike Marcus, whose revenge made him reckless, or you, whose arrogance made you overconfident, I learned from my father's mistakes. I didn't come here to win through deception or force. I came here to expose the truth and let justice take its course."FBI agents were securing the warehouse, taking Marcus and Catherine into custody. Special Agent Morrison approached Alex."Mr. Castellano, we need sta

Marcus's face went pale, then flushed with rage. "That's impossible. David didn't have access to…""He did," Alex interrupted. "And now I do too. So here's what's going to happen. You're going to release Sarah and Anna right now. You're going to surrender to the authorities. And you're going to provide testimony about every crime family you've been working with. In exchange, I'll make sure the prosecutors know you cooperated.""You think I care about deals and prosecutions?" Marcus's hand moved toward his jacket, but he froze when a new voice echoed through the warehouse."Actually, Marcus, you should care very much about those things."Everyone turned toward the source of the voice. A figure emerged from the shadows near the eastern entrance, a woman in her late fifties, elegant, with steel-gray hair and sharp, intelligent eyes. She wore a tailored business suit and carried herself with the confidence of someone accustomed to command.Alex felt his world tilt. "Aunt Catherine?"Cathe

  • CHAPTER SEVENTY-SEVEN: THE FORTRESS

The interior of the warehouse was nothing like Alex expected. Instead of the typical industrial space with concrete floors and exposed beams, he found himself in what could only be described as a command center. The ground floor had been converted into a sophisticated operation hub, multiple computer stations, wall-mounted screens displaying security feeds from various locations, communications equipment that looked military-grade.But it was the walls that truly revealed Marcus's obsession.Every available surface was covered with photographs, documents, newspaper clippings, and handwritten notes. A timeline spanning four decades stretched across the entire eastern wall, chronicling every major event in the Castellano family history. There were photos of Alex's father, Giovanni Castellano, at various stages of his life. Photos of Marcus's father, Thomas Castellano. Pictures of business deals, family gatherings, corporate announcements. And connecting them all were red lines drawn in

The SUV was speeding through San Francisco now, heading toward the Bay Bridge and Oakland beyond. Alex's phone buzzed with an incoming call from Vincent."Alex, I've been going through Marcus's financial network like you asked," Vincent said immediately. "I found something. Marcus hasn't just been moving his own money. He's been managing funds for three different organized crime families, the remains of the Marcelli organization, a Russian syndicate, and a Chinese Triad group. He's been laundering approximately fifty million dollars a month for the past two years.""That's our leverage," Alex said. "If we can prove that to law enforcement...""Already on it," Vincent interrupted. "But Alex, there's something else. The money isn't just being laundered. It's being consolidated and redistributed according to a specific pattern. All of it is flowing toward Oakland, to a series of properties in the industrial district near the port."Alex felt ice in his veins. "Pier 47?""How did you know

  • CHAPTER SEVENTY-FIVE: THE MIDNIGHT MEETING

The fog rolled thick through Golden Gate Park as Alex made his way toward the Shakespeare Garden. It was 11:45 PM, fifteen minutes before the scheduled meeting with David Chen. The park was nearly deserted at this hour, the distant sound of traffic on Fell Street the only reminder of the city beyond the trees.Alex wore dark clothing and moved quietly along the path. He knew Rodriguez's team was positioned throughout the park—three men in the surrounding trees, two more near the entrance points, and Adrian himself stationed in a vehicle two hundred yards away with a clear communication line. The Shakespeare Garden was a small, enclosed space filled with plants mentioned in Shakespeare's works. Bronze plaques with quotes were embedded along the pathways. In the darkness, with the fog obscuring the surrounding trees, it felt isolated and intimate, perfect for a clandestine meeting or an ambush.Alex checked his watch. 11:52 PM. He positioned himself near the center of the garden, his ba
