Mia stared at her phone feeling exhausted and helpless. Harrison glanced back at her through the rearview mirror. “Is everything okay?” He asked.

She forced a smile. “Yes… just family matters.”

Harrison parked his e-bike when they arrived at Mia’s residential building. He decided to walk her toward the building and stopped downstairs.

“This is me.” Mia said softly and Harrison glanced toward the corridor and nodded.

He studied her face for a while, he wanted to ask if she was okay after the call

David drew a sharp breath of relief when he saw it was only Harrison who had stepped inside. He straightened his shoulders and looked Harrisons straight in the eye. Instead of explaining himself, he twisted the question back at him.“What am I doing here?” David scoffed. “Maybe I should ask you the same question. You walk in here like it’s your office, but look at you, you work as a servant in this house just like every other servants. No wonder you were able to get close to President Greta. A fraud and a blackmailer, that’s what you are, you threaten people and hide the truth so no one would see who you really are. One day someone will expose you.”Harrison’s face darkened. “Watch your mouth, you’re in here, yet you have the guts to run your mouth?” Harrison ran a finger through his hair. “You don’t even know anything about me.”“I know enough.” David shot back. “You pushed people around and act clean while you dig into other people’s business. You’re no better than the men you prete

David parked his car a short distance from the large iron gates of the Hayes mansion. He took a deep breath and fixed a polite smile on his face, adjusting his shirt as he looked at the car mirror.“We are doing this for Janet, David,” he muttered, taking a deep breath. “Let’s do it right.” He encouraged himself.Today he was not coming as an outsider to the Hayes mansion, he was coming as the son of his mother who worked here. His mother had served the Hayes family for many years. And she managed the household staff of the Hayes family, and that was his cover. He had made promises to Janet, and since she needed his help for her business, he would do anything to make her get the contract at Diamond Global. The only way he saw to get it was through pressure and the Hayes family had close ties to Diamond Global run by President Greta.David believed that somewhere inside this house there would be papers or secret he could use. If he found something damaging, he could force President Gre

Harrison’s brows snapped together. “I don’t care what you think of me,” he said coldly. “She told you to leave her alone, so that’s enough, leave.”Roy took a step closer, chest out, arrogance pouring off him. “Or what?” he asked. “You’ll fight me in the middle of the street?” He spread out his hand. “Don’t embarrass yourself. A guy like you doesn’t belong next to a woman like her. Mia needs someone who can actually stand at her level, not some broke outsider hoping for free money.”Mia stepped in front of Harrison, facing her ex-boyfriend. “Listen carefully,” she said. “Whatever we had is finished. It died the day you walked away from my life.”“This man,” she pointed at Harrison. “He is the one who treated me with respect when no one else did. You don’t get to come back now and insult him. You don’t get to touch me, you should leave now.” She pointed at the street.Roy’s smile flattered, and his brows furrowed. “You can’t be serious.” he said, staring at her in anger. “After everyth

“Mia?”Mia stopped and Harrison stopped beside her when he saw her reaction. They both turned around and Mia froze.Harrison traced her eyes to the young man standing a few steps away, dressed in an expensive shirt and a cocky smile spread across his lips that didn’t reach his eyes.Mia stared at Roy, he looked exactly the same as the last time she had seen him, too arrogant, sure of himself, and completely without shame. Her fingers curled at her side, and the color drained out of her face, her expression hardening.Roy’s lips spread into a broad smile, without permission, he walked straight up to Mia, opened his arms and pulled her unto a tight hug.Harrison blinked, stunned to see how forward Roy was and how Mia was still without resisting.“I miss you so much, Mia.” Roy whispered and leaned back slightly, before she could push him away, he leaned in and tried to kiss her.Mia shoved him hard in the chest. “Don’t touch me,” she said, her voice cold.Roy laughed, as if her anger was

Harrison and Mia went to a cafeteria a few miles from Mia’s place, they sat by the window and ordered coffee and sandwich.“What happened to you?” Mia asked after staring at his face for a while, it was faint but she could still see few bruises on his face.“I am fine.” Harrison assured her, but she shook her head.“Janet and David came to my office last night, they said you were at the hospital, I was so worried, I checked the internet but there was no accident that happened at the country side, and I tried calling you multiple times but there was no response, I couldn’t sit still and---“Harrison quickly reached over the table and held her hand, she paused her lips as he squeezed it tenderly and met her gaze.“I am here, see…” he said softly and tilted his head. “I’m right in front of you, I’m good.” He added and she closed her eyes and breathed a sigh of relief.Mia opened her eyes again. “Janet and David made it seem like you were badly hurt, and I began regretting not taking your

The video of Janet’s ridicule at the dinner hit social media and spread fast. David happened to come across the video when he was scrolling through Instagram, and his eyes dilated to see the clip everywhere. It showed Janet at the dinner table, eyes lowered, expression pale, while Harrison’s voice mocked her. Someone who filmed it had posted it, now thousands of strangers were watching, commenting and sharing.“What?” David stopped scrolling, his thumb froze on the screen as he watched the video twice, each viewing made his stomach twist hard. He knew that look on Janet’s face. He had seen it before when they hadn’t let them go into a banquet, this time the whole internet was watching her break.David quickly scrolled to Janet’s number to call her, but hesitated. “No, I should over to her apartment and see her.”He grabbed his keys and drove straight to her place.Janet’s apartment was quiet when he arrived, the curtains were drawn, the lights were off, David entered her key code sinc
