The five-thousand-dollar check Nolan had given was lying on the marble floor, dirty and crumpled. The guests couldn't believe Halston dared to act so boldly, especially considering his status as a useless son-in-law.
"W-What are you doing, Halston?" Mia shouted, her face red with anger. "How dare you humiliate Nolan in front of everyone?"
Halston looked at her coldly. "Didn't you hear? I'm cleaning the dirt off my shoes with this check. It's not even enough to wipe all of it off," he responded indifferently.
Nolan lost his fake smile. The arrogance he always showed disappeared, replaced by a sharp, threatening glare. He stepped toward Halston with clenched fists, the veins on his arms bulging.
"Do you understand the consequences of your actions today, delivery boy?" he growled.
Halston didn't respond. He slowly walked toward Mia, his sharp gaze making her take a half-step back.
"Are you really sure about this divorce, my wife?" he asked, looking for one last opening in Mia's heart.
Mia lifted her chin, her eyes full of disgust. "Stop calling me that. I'm sick of it!" she snapped. "And yes, I'm one hundred percent sure! You think I would stay with a loser like you?"
"Not even a little part of me remains in your heart?" Halston's voice was barely a whisper.
"Don't you get it? I never loved you! I married you only because Grandpa promised me properties and other inheritance as a wedding gift. That's all. You were just a tool, Halston!"
A mocking laugh escaped Mia's lips, echoing through the hall. The guests held back their laughter when they saw the disappointed look on Halston's face.
"Fine, if that's what you want, Mia. I won't force it anymore. But remember, the world keeps turning. When the time comes, you'll regret every word you said today," Halston stated confidently.
Mia scoffed, reaching into her bag. She handed him the divorce papers, as if the document meant nothing. Halston snatched them and quickly signed them. He threw the papers at Nolan's face, the movement so fast that it made the guests gasp.
"I didn't know the honorable Mr. Clark had such a strange taste. If I were you, I'd be ashamed of going after someone else's wife," Halston mocked.
"You've crossed the line!" Mia shouted, her face turning even redder.
"Crossed the line?" Halston almost laughed. "What about how you treated me for two years? Insulting me, treating me like a servant, and planning this betrayal. Isn't that what you call crossing the line?"
Mia's eyes twitched, her pupils widening for a moment. This wasn't the Halston she knew, the man who used to stay silent while being humiliated. That loser was now fighting back with a courage that made her uneasy.
"That's because you deserved it!" she yelled, her voice shrill with anger. "A loser like you doesn't deserve to stand next to me! I'm a respected woman in Rivertone, while you're nothing but a lowly delivery man!"
Halston gave a small smile, but it didn't reach his eyes. Arguing with Mia was pointless. This selfish woman would never admit her mistakes. He decided to leave the party, but Nolan grabbed his shoulder tightly.
"Are you feeling so embarrassed that you're trying to run away, huh?" Nolan sneered.
"I just don't want to breathe the same air as a bastard like you," Halston replied.
Nolan's face twisted, rage burning in his eyes. "What did you say?" he roared, his voice booming.
"You heard me. Or do you not have ears?"
Nolan couldn't take it anymore. With a roar, he charged forward, his fist aimed straight at Halston's face. But at the last second, Halston dodged smoothly. Nolan fell forward, his body slamming onto the marble floor with a loud thud. The guests gasped, some covering their mouths in shock at the sight of the Clark family heir unable to land a single blow.
Mia rushed to Nolan's side to help him up, but Nolan pushed her away roughly, his face red with humiliation.
"Don't touch me!" he snapped. He stood and pointed at Halston with a trembling hand. "Just wait! I'll make you regret this!"
Halston chuckled. "Shouldn't you clean the blood off your nose first?"
Nolan instinctively touched his nose, his fingers wet with blood. Mia handed him a handkerchief, her face pale.
"Are you insane?" Mia glared at Halston. "Apologize to Nolan right now!"
Halston shrugged. "Why should I? He fell by himself."
"You!" Mia nearly stepped forward, but Nolan was already up again. With blind rage, he threw another punch at Halston's face. But Halston tilted his head slightly, and the punch missed.
"I thought you were going to show something impressive with that confidence of yours," Halston clicked his tongue mockingly. "But this is all you've got? You should hire more bodyguards. I'm worried the Clark family might lose its heir since you can't defend yourself properly."
Nolan froze, stunned that his punch missed again. "That was just the beginning!" he roared. "I'll destroy you with the second punch!"
He attacked again, his fist flying fast. But suddenly, it stopped mid-air, caught firmly in Halston's palm.
"What…?" Nolan was stunned, his eyes wide.
Before he could think, Halston's punch landed. Thud! A loud sound echoed as Nolan's body was flung several meters, crashing into the drink table. Crystal glasses were scattered, and red wine spilled across the floor. Nolan lay motionless, blood dripping from his nose and mouth.
The guests' eyes widened.
"He… beat Nolan with one punch?" someone whispered in disbelief.
"Wait, that's really the loser son-in-law?" someone else said, covering their mouth.
"His life is over. The Clark family won't stay quiet."
Mia knelt beside Nolan and patted his chest. "Nolan, sweetheart, wake up! Can you hear me?"
But Nolan didn't move, unconscious with a bloodied face. The guests turned their eyes toward Halston, who stood calmly, as if he hadn't just crushed the heir of Rivertone's most powerful family.
The sound of fast footsteps broke the silence. A middle-aged man, wearing a simple yet elegant gray suit, quickly approached Halston.
"My eyes aren't playing tricks on me, are they? Are you really the person I think you are?" the older man asked with excitement in his voice.
Gasps echoed around the room. How could they not be shocked? That middle-aged man was Miles Rowan, the legendary investor whose name shook the business world. He was the economic driving force behind many of Rivertone's prestigious families, a man so influential that the heads of major clans were willing to wait in line for days to meet him.
And now, this feared and respected figure stood before Halston, showing a level of respect he had never shown to just anyone.

Halston took off his suit and placed it on Kyra's shoulders, covering her disheveled clothes."So you're that damn courier?" Julian jumped to his feet and glared at Kyra.
