The five-thousand-dollar check Nolan had given was lying on the marble floor, dirty and crumpled. The guests couldn't believe Halston dared to act so boldly, especially considering his status as a useless son-in-law.
"W-What are you doing, Halston?" Mia shouted, her face red with anger. "How dare you humiliate Nolan in front of everyone?"
Halston looked at her coldly. "Didn't you hear? I'm cleaning the dirt off my shoes with this check. It's not even enough to wipe all of it off," he responded indifferently.
Nolan lost his fake smile. The arrogance he always showed disappeared, replaced by a sharp, threatening glare. He stepped toward Halston with clenched fists, the veins on his arms bulging.
"Do you understand the consequences of your actions today, delivery boy?" he growled.
Halston didn't respond. He slowly walked toward Mia, his sharp gaze making her take a half-step back.
"Are you really sure about this divorce, my wife?" he asked, looking for one last opening in Mia's heart.
Mia lifted her chin, her eyes full of disgust. "Stop calling me that. I'm sick of it!" she snapped. "And yes, I'm one hundred percent sure! You think I would stay with a loser like you?"
"Not even a little part of me remains in your heart?" Halston's voice was barely a whisper.
"Don't you get it? I never loved you! I married you only because Grandpa promised me properties and other inheritance as a wedding gift. That's all. You were just a tool, Halston!"
A mocking laugh escaped Mia's lips, echoing through the hall. The guests held back their laughter when they saw the disappointed look on Halston's face.
"Fine, if that's what you want, Mia. I won't force it anymore. But remember, the world keeps turning. When the time comes, you'll regret every word you said today," Halston stated confidently.
Mia scoffed, reaching into her bag. She handed him the divorce papers, as if the document meant nothing. Halston snatched them and quickly signed them. He threw the papers at Nolan's face, the movement so fast that it made the guests gasp.
"I didn't know the honorable Mr. Clark had such a strange taste. If I were you, I'd be ashamed of going after someone else's wife," Halston mocked.
"You've crossed the line!" Mia shouted, her face turning even redder.
"Crossed the line?" Halston almost laughed. "What about how you treated me for two years? Insulting me, treating me like a servant, and planning this betrayal. Isn't that what you call crossing the line?"
Mia's eyes twitched, her pupils widening for a moment. This wasn't the Halston she knew, the man who used to stay silent while being humiliated. That loser was now fighting back with a courage that made her uneasy.
"That's because you deserved it!" she yelled, her voice shrill with anger. "A loser like you doesn't deserve to stand next to me! I'm a respected woman in Rivertone, while you're nothing but a lowly delivery man!"
Halston gave a small smile, but it didn't reach his eyes. Arguing with Mia was pointless. This selfish woman would never admit her mistakes. He decided to leave the party, but Nolan grabbed his shoulder tightly.
"Are you feeling so embarrassed that you're trying to run away, huh?" Nolan sneered.
"I just don't want to breathe the same air as a bastard like you," Halston replied.
Nolan's face twisted, rage burning in his eyes. "What did you say?" he roared, his voice booming.
"You heard me. Or do you not have ears?"
Nolan couldn't take it anymore. With a roar, he charged forward, his fist aimed straight at Halston's face. But at the last second, Halston dodged smoothly. Nolan fell forward, his body slamming onto the marble floor with a loud thud. The guests gasped, some covering their mouths in shock at the sight of the Clark family heir unable to land a single blow.
Mia rushed to Nolan's side to help him up, but Nolan pushed her away roughly, his face red with humiliation.
"Don't touch me!" he snapped. He stood and pointed at Halston with a trembling hand. "Just wait! I'll make you regret this!"
Halston chuckled. "Shouldn't you clean the blood off your nose first?"
Nolan instinctively touched his nose, his fingers wet with blood. Mia handed him a handkerchief, her face pale.
"Are you insane?" Mia glared at Halston. "Apologize to Nolan right now!"
Halston shrugged. "Why should I? He fell by himself."
"You!" Mia nearly stepped forward, but Nolan was already up again. With blind rage, he threw another punch at Halston's face. But Halston tilted his head slightly, and the punch missed.
"I thought you were going to show something impressive with that confidence of yours," Halston clicked his tongue mockingly. "But this is all you've got? You should hire more bodyguards. I'm worried the Clark family might lose its heir since you can't defend yourself properly."
Nolan froze, stunned that his punch missed again. "That was just the beginning!" he roared. "I'll destroy you with the second punch!"
He attacked again, his fist flying fast. But suddenly, it stopped mid-air, caught firmly in Halston's palm.
"What…?" Nolan was stunned, his eyes wide.
Before he could think, Halston's punch landed. Thud! A loud sound echoed as Nolan's body was flung several meters, crashing into the drink table. Crystal glasses were scattered, and red wine spilled across the floor. Nolan lay motionless, blood dripping from his nose and mouth.
The guests' eyes widened.
"He… beat Nolan with one punch?" someone whispered in disbelief.
"Wait, that's really the loser son-in-law?" someone else said, covering their mouth.
"His life is over. The Clark family won't stay quiet."
Mia knelt beside Nolan and patted his chest. "Nolan, sweetheart, wake up! Can you hear me?"
But Nolan didn't move, unconscious with a bloodied face. The guests turned their eyes toward Halston, who stood calmly, as if he hadn't just crushed the heir of Rivertone's most powerful family.
The sound of fast footsteps broke the silence. A middle-aged man, wearing a simple yet elegant gray suit, quickly approached Halston.
"My eyes aren't playing tricks on me, are they? Are you really the person I think you are?" the older man asked with excitement in his voice.
Gasps echoed around the room. How could they not be shocked? That middle-aged man was Miles Rowan, the legendary investor whose name shook the business world. He was the economic driving force behind many of Rivertone's prestigious families, a man so influential that the heads of major clans were willing to wait in line for days to meet him.
And now, this feared and respected figure stood before Halston, showing a level of respect he had never shown to just anyone.

The guards, swayed by Ethan's words, immediately grabbed Halston. They were afraid their superiors would scold them for allowing someone like Halston to enter the restaurant. Eden West was a symbol of wealth, and the rich were always sensitive when someone from a lower class stepped into their territory.Ethan grinned in satisfaction. "This man might be dressed neatly and politely, but he's actually Halston, the useless ex-husband of CEO Mia from Silver Trust! He probably got compensation from the divorce and used it to sneak into the elite circle!""I-I didn't know this man was a leech sucking off the Brown family!" the guard at the entrance stammered."You should have been more careful," Ethan glanced at the name tag on the guard's uniform, his eyes gleaming with mischief as a wicked idea crossed his mind. "Your name is Alex, right? I'll report you to your supervisor so you'll get fired for being careless on duty!"Hearing that, the waitress rushed inside and resumed her work. She w

Julian laughed along because nothing made more sense than Grayson's words. "That loser did it, and I'm the one embarrassed! He probably spent his divorce compensation money to hire that actor," he sneered."But why would he approach Kyra? That's strange," Grayson said while rubbing his chin."Obviously because he thinks I'm easy to fool," Nick replied angrily. "That loser Halston convinced my father to marry him to Mia. And now that Mia dumped him, he thinks he can get close to Kyra and live off my family!"Everyone believed Halston lived comfortably in the mansion given to him by the Brown family, but Mia actually treated him like a servant. It was even worse than that, since Mia never appreciated him, even though he worked hard. No one would believe him if he said that she treated her dog better than him. With all those nasty rumors, Nick had no good impression of Halston. He grabbed Grayson's shoulder and pleaded, "You have to defeat that loser no matter what! I don't want him anyw

"Grayson Spark?" Halston frowned, recognizing the neatly dressed man. He knew him because Grayson came from the Spark family, whose wine brand had always been a top seller thanks to funding from Dominion Capital. The reason he could remember Grayson was because his parents would always boast about how their son would be able to handle the family business well, so the Overlord didn't need to worry about its future."You know me?" Grayson raised an eyebrow, inspecting Halston's appearance with a judgmental gaze. "I feel like I've seen you somewhere before. That's strange, because loudmouths like you would never be anywhere near me."Julian snickered and said, "Mr. Spark, you must've seen this loser somewhere. All the wealthy people in the city know him. He's Halston, the useless husband of Mia Brown!""I don't have time for gossip like that because I'm busy managing the family business. But what is this parasite doing here?""As you heard, he's trying to get close to Kyra and even bragg

Even though he had to borrow money from an underground organization, he finally opened several branches in the city. As Matteo had asked, he was only a few steps away from reaching fifteen restaurants. However, his conflict with the Red Syndicate could ruin his business. Halston's unexpected appearance might destroy everything Nick had built. With his face flushed from embarrassment, he shouted, "Mia must've sent this loser to mess up Dad's business! Grandpa is dead now, so the only way we can come back is if Mia's parents approve. They don't want us to return and claim our inheritance!""I think the same. After all, I'm the son of the former head of the Brown family. That cunning Jack must not want me to g

No one dared to speak. Only the sound of Halston's fists echoed through the air. The thugs watched in silence as Tom got beaten to a pulp, their pupils trembling. They did not expect that courier to be still able to overpower them, even when Tom had brought more people this time.Julian and Nick stood frozen, their mouths wide open. Halston had not been bluffing when he said he could take Tom down. The silence in the room was broken by the shouts of the thugs. "B-Boss, wake up!" they cried, their faces pale as they looked at Tom lying weakly on the floor."Sorry, I'm late," said Halston, helping Kyra to her feet."How can you be here?" Kyra frowned, certain she had never given Halston her home address."That doesn't matter right now. I told you I'd help you if something happened." Halston took off his suit and placed it on Kyra's shoulders, covering her disheveled clothes."So you're that damn courier?" Julian jumped to his feet and glared at Kyra. "Didn't you say you didn't know him?""I've seen him often because he's the food delivery guy, but I don't know him well.""You should've dragged him here from the start so this mess wouldn't have gotten this big!"
