Edmund was startled. "You mean… Mia wasn't the one who saved you?" He quickly bowed. "Forgive my incompetence, Sir! That means I gave you the wrong information two years ago!"
Halston raised his hand, stopping the apology. "You're not wrong. The woman who saved me was indeed from the Brown family. But it wasn't Mia, it was Kyra," he said, his eyes fixed on Kyra's photo, the same girl he had helped at the restaurant yesterday.
All this time, he had never met Kyra at any of the Brown family gatherings because she and her parents had been kicked out two years ago. According to information from William, Matteo had faked the details after learning the Overlord was searching for Kyra. He wanted Halston to marry Mia, his beloved granddaughter.
Halston handed the folder to Edmund. The pain of being betrayed by Mia slowly faded, replaced by a new purpose.
"This time, I'll repay the favor properly!"
In a modest house on the outskirts of Rivertone, shards of glass were scattered across the floor. A steel baton destroyed the coffee table in the living room, its fragments adding to the mess. A flower vase was cracked, chairs overturned, and family photos trampled, while a gang of thugs stormed in.
"I-I don't understand what you're talking about, sir!" Nick, Kyra's father, knelt before Tom. Sweat drenched his forehead, and he gasped under the pressure of the thugs surrounding him.
Tom's rage exploded as he touched the wound on his face, recalling the humiliating punch from Halston. "Don't act stupid! You must know who that damn courier is. If not, why would he go through the trouble of protecting your restaurant?"
The metal baton gleamed in the hands of a burly thug. "You better talk before we beat you to death, old man," he threatened.
Helen clung to Nick, trembling. "W-We really don't know! My husband was working at another restaurant branch when you came yesterday," she said honestly.
"You think I'm that easy to fool?" Tom roared. He stepped toward Helen and grabbed her chin roughly. "Look at me! Tell me where that damn courier is!"
Sweat poured from Helen's forehead. "I-I don't know. I've never seen him before," she replied, her voice barely a whisper amidst the fear.
"Lies!" Tom's shout echoed through the house. "If you don't know him, then why did he help your daughter yesterday?"
Julian, who had been kneeling, suddenly spoke. "Then just ask my sister! She must know who the courier is."
A cruel smile spread across Tom's face. "You're right," he said, walking toward Julian. "I almost forgot about that girl. Where is she?"
"S-She's working," Julian answered, trying to sound convincing. "Give me my phone. I'll call her to come now."
"You think I'm stupid? You're planning to call the police, aren't you?"
"No! I won't call the police!"
Tom raised his baton, ready to strike Julian. But suddenly, a loud voice shattered the tension.
"Stop it! Don't hit anyone!"
Kyra stood at the doorway, panting from rushing home after hearing her parents' house was under attack.
"Let them go!" she demanded, standing in the way of Tom's arm, which was inches away from hitting her younger brother.
"Don't act like a hero now!" Julian glared, his anger bursting. "Why did you just get here? Look at the mess you caused!"
Nick added his scorn. "Why are you always wandering around causing trouble?"
A loud cough from Helen cut through their shouting. "Why are you talking to Kyra like that? She's been working so hard to help us all this time," she said, her voice weak.
Worried, Kyra rushed to her mother's side. "Mom, are you okay? Have you taken your medicine?" she asked, gently holding Helen's shoulder.
"Where is the courier? You must know, right?" Tom grabbed Kyra's arm.
"I don't know him," Kyra lied. "Yesterday was the first time we met."
"I know you're lying! Tell me now, or your family's finished!"
Panic gripped Nick. "You useless girl!" he shouted. "Tell them where that courier is! Do you want us to die here?"
"Be useful for once. Bring that courier here!" Julian pushed.
When it came to putting Kyra down, Nick and Julian were always first in line. The patriarchal system made Nick spoil Julian and look down on Kyra.
"I really don't know who he is!" Kyra said firmly, unshaken, even though thugs surrounded her.
"Even if you don't know him, bring him to me in thirty minutes, or your father's loan interest goes up to twenty percent!" Tom threatened, tapping the baton on the floor.
Nick's face turned pale. "What are you waiting for, you ungrateful brat? Go find that courier! He's the one who caused this, but we're the ones suffering!"
"This happened because you borrowed money from thugs, not because of that courier!" Kyra snapped back, frustrated with her family's debt situation.
"How dare you talk like that to your father? I borrowed money to pay for your brother's expensive tuition! You'll also benefit when he graduates from a prestigious university!"
A bitter laugh escaped Kyra. "Tuition?" she rolled her eyes. "You really don't know? Julian used that money to gamble, not for school!"
The accusation sparked a roar. "How dare you accuse me!" Julian jumped up, his face red with anger.
Their shouting stopped as Tom let out an irritated sigh. "Hey, did you all forget I'm still here? I won't be this patient if you fail to bring me that courier."
"Kyra, bring the courier!" Nick begged, his voice trembling. "It's better to sacrifice one life to save the rest of us!"
Julian followed with more pressure. "Think about Mom. She hasn't taken her chemo medicine. If it's delayed, you know what could happen, right?"
Helen dropped to her knees before Tom. "Please let us go. My daughter already said she didn't know—cough!"
"Mom, are you okay?" Kyra cried, trying to get closer, but Tom held her back by her hair.
"Bring me the courier, or your family is finished!" he shouted, yanking her hair harder.
Halston's number was in Kyra's pocket, and she could call him right now. But seeing that there were twice as many thugs as yesterday, she hesitated.
"Go ahead and raise the interest. I'll work even harder to pay it. And you won't dare kill us, right? We're your source of money," Kyra said fearlessly.
Halston's heroic act yesterday gave her courage. If Halston could protect her without hesitation, then she could do the same.
"You damn woman!" Tom raised his hand to slap Kyra, but suddenly, the thugs behind him were thrown back one by one like leaves hit by a strong wind.
Bam! Bam!
Loud punches echoed, followed by screams of pain. Everyone was shocked and turned to look at the source of the commotion.
The sound of blows came with a clear path opening in the middle of the crowd. Slowly, a man in a suit walked through the group.
When one thug tried to attack him, the man punched him square in the chest without even looking. His eyes were fixed only on Tom's hand pulling Kyra's hair.
"Who are you?" Tom shouted, not recognizing Halston since he had worn a helmet yesterday. "How dare you meddle in my business?"
Halston ignored the question and grabbed Tom's shoulder with such force that it brought him to his knees.
A faint smile appeared on Halston's face as he said, "I came to deliver a package."
"What?" Tom frowned in confusion.
"This is the package."
Bugh!
Halston's punch landed right on Tom's chest, sending him flying into the wall. Cracks spread across it, a clear sign of how powerful Halston's strike was.

Chapter 14
The guards, swayed by Ethan's words, immediately grabbed Halston. They were afraid their superiors would scold them for allowing someone like Halston to enter the restaurant. Eden West was a symbol of wealth, and the rich were always sensitive when someone from a lower class stepped into their territory.Ethan grinned in satisfaction. "This man might be dressed neatly and politely, but he's actually Halston, the useless ex-husband of CEO Mia from Silver Trust! He probably got compensation from the divorce and used it to sneak into the elite circle!""I-I didn't know this man was a leech sucking off the Brown family!" the guard at the entrance stammered."You should have been more careful," Ethan glanced at the name tag on the guard's uniform, his eyes gleaming with mischief as a wicked idea crossed his mind. "Your name is Alex, right? I'll report you to your supervisor so you'll get fired for being careless on duty!"Hearing that, the waitress rushed inside and resumed her work. She w

Julian laughed along because nothing made more sense than Grayson's words. "That loser did it, and I'm the one embarrassed! He probably spent his divorce compensation money to hire that actor," he sneered."But why would he approach Kyra? That's strange," Grayson said while rubbing his chin."Obviously because he thinks I'm easy to fool," Nick replied angrily. "That loser Halston convinced my father to marry him to Mia. And now that Mia dumped him, he thinks he can get close to Kyra and live off my family!"Everyone believed Halston lived comfortably in the mansion given to him by the Brown family, but Mia actually treated him like a servant. It was even worse than that, since Mia never appreciated him, even though he worked hard. No one would believe him if he said that she treated her dog better than him. With all those nasty rumors, Nick had no good impression of Halston. He grabbed Grayson's shoulder and pleaded, "You have to defeat that loser no matter what! I don't want him anyw
Chapter 12
"Grayson Spark?" Halston frowned, recognizing the neatly dressed man. He knew him because Grayson came from the Spark family, whose wine brand had always been a top seller thanks to funding from Dominion Capital. The reason he could remember Grayson was because his parents would always boast about how their son would be able to handle the family business well, so the Overlord didn't need to worry about its future."You know me?" Grayson raised an eyebrow, inspecting Halston's appearance with a judgmental gaze. "I feel like I've seen you somewhere before. That's strange, because loudmouths like you would never be anywhere near me."Julian snickered and said, "Mr. Spark, you must've seen this loser somewhere. All the wealthy people in the city know him. He's Halston, the useless husband of Mia Brown!""I don't have time for gossip like that because I'm busy managing the family business. But what is this parasite doing here?""As you heard, he's trying to get close to Kyra and even bragg
Chapter 11
The Brown family declared they would accept Nick back if he succeeded in expanding his restaurant business. Even though he had to borrow money from an underground organization, he finally opened several branches in the city. As Matteo had asked, he was only a few steps away from reaching fifteen restaurants. However, his conflict with the Red Syndicate could ruin his business. Halston's unexpected appearance might destroy everything Nick had built. Kyra, who had never doubted Halston before, began to question his true intentions.Julian tried to push Halston, but he failed because Halston stood firm like a giant statue. With his face flushed from embarrassment, he shouted, "Mia must've sent this loser to mess up Dad's business! Grandpa is dead now, so the only way we can come back is if Mia's parents approve. They don't want us to return and claim our inheritance!""I think the same. After all, I'm the son of the former head of the Brown family. That cunning Jack must not want me to g
Chapter 10
No one dared to speak. Only the sound of Halston's fists echoed through the air. The thugs watched in silence as Tom got beaten to a pulp, their pupils trembling. They did not expect that courier to be still able to overpower them, even when Tom had brought more people this time.Julian and Nick stood frozen, their mouths wide open. Halston had not been bluffing when he said he could take Tom down. The arrogant man who had been threatening them earlier was now curled up in a corner, his face bloodied and bruised. The tension rose as Halston raised his fist again. Kyra jumped up with a gasp, her breath shaky."Stop! Don't continue this!" she shouted in fear.Halston immediately stopped, and the hard look on his face softened again. Inside, he cursed himself for leaving such a terrible impression on Kyra. The thugs took the chance to escape at this moment. They quietly lifted Tom's limp body and tiptoed toward the exit. Their steps were slow and cautious, like frightened mice."Where do
Chapter 9
The silence in the room was broken by the shouts of the thugs. "B-Boss, wake up!" they cried, their faces pale as they looked at Tom lying weakly on the floor."Sorry, I'm late," said Halston, helping Kyra to her feet."How can you be here?" Kyra frowned, certain she had never given Halston her home address."That doesn't matter right now. I told you I'd help you if something happened." Halston took off his suit and placed it on Kyra's shoulders, covering her disheveled clothes."So you're that damn courier?" Julian jumped to his feet and glared at Kyra. "Didn't you say you didn't know him?""I've seen him often because he's the food delivery guy, but I don't know him well.""You should've dragged him here from the start so this mess wouldn't have gotten this big!" Nick snapped.Anger burned in Kyra's eyes. "If you hadn't been late paying his debts, none of this would've happened," she defended Halston.Helen's weak voice tried to mediate. "Kyra's right.
