Before Sara could decide how to respond to Tristan, she heard a disappointed sigh escaping his lips.
“Doesn't seem like you are interested in it like I am. Well, it's fine, you don't have to cook if you don't want to. Let's just eat out instead.” Sara immediately softened. She couldn't bear to see Tristan upset, so letting out a sigh, she remarked. “Alright.” “Hmm?” Tristan raised a brow. “I'll make the steak.” “For real?” Sara managed a smile. “Absolutely.” “You're the best!” Tristan excitedly said as he took her hand and pulled her close before taking a casual photo, which he uploaded to Instegram. Sara chuckled as she asked while pulling away. “Why the sudden photos?” “I just feel like recording every moment we spend together. It's way too beautiful not to immortalize, no?” Tristan gently said, even adding a playful wink. Sara shook her head in amusement. “You can be so extra at times.” Then, she picked up her bag and keys. “Wait for me at the entrance, I'll head to the parking lot to get the car.” “Sure thing.” On the way to the company entrance, Tristan sent out a mass message to everyone on his contact list, asking them to like his Instegram post, including Alistair. Meanwhile, Alistair had just gotten back from Cherry's, intending to pick up some items before heading back to meet with Caleb when he suddenly got a notification on his phone. He checked and discovered it was Tristan's message. Frowning, he was just about to delete it, after all, what was his business with Tristan and his Instegram posts? However, just then, another message came in from Tristan, this time an apology for sending the first message. “What's he up to this time?” Alistair muttered in slight annoyance. He'd experienced enough of Tristan's schemes to know when the troublemaker was up to something. Then, the last message entered with Tristan claiming that the post was just a simple picture, nothing more. Perplexed as to what he meant, Alistair decided to check the post out only to pause at the sight that greeted his eyes. Naturally, it was the photo of Tristan and Sara in her office, with both looking very much like a couple. Alistair's demeanor turned icy as he stared at the picture. He recalled the one time he'd visited Sara in her office after they'd just gotten married. Not only did she shame him for coming, but she also made it clear that she never allowed anyone into her office. Yet, here she was, posing for a cute picture with Tristan in that same office. She honestly never cared about him, did she? Filled with bitter disappointment both in her and himself, Alistair let out a cold laugh. So this was Tristan's game? A vain attempt to ignite rage and jealousy in his heart. Once upon a time, Alistair might have been furious, but not anymore. He had long since accepted that Sara was never his so, instead of lashing out at Tristan, he instead gave the post a like and after a brief thought, went ahead to even leave a comment; two souls, one heart, endless love, Congratulations. Then, he tossed the phone aside and was just about to get back to the reason he'd returned home only to catch a glimpse of his and Sara's wedding photo. It was hung up on the wall for all to see, courtesy of Alistair, who had been the proudest and happiest man on earth the day they'd gotten married. He still recalled how that day, without taking the time to rest, he'd picked up a hammer and a nail to hang the picture. It had been the reason he'd stayed with her for so long, enduring everything Sara threw his way. Now though, it was a painful reminder of a past he no longer had any intentions of recalling. Filled with disgust, he walked up to it and pulled it down, then walked outside and tossed it in the trash. That was where it belonged now, just like their already broken marriage. Just as he was about to walk back into the house, Sara pulled into the driveway. Upon noticing Alistair tossing something into the trash bin, she got out of the car and asked. “What was that?” It looked too familiar for her to ignore. “Just some trash,” Alistair replied, his tone cold and distant. Sara felt a pang of unease. Just as she considered checking it out herself, Tristan stepped out of the car. “Oh hey bro, you're home?... Didn't see you there.” Tristan said, as if only just realizing Alistair was around. Alistair turned to regard him, his gaze filled with intense disdain. “Firstly, I am not your bro. Secondly, why are you at my house?”Latest Chapter
Chapter 437: Incident at Goldridge suites
Alistair gently reached over and placed a reassuring hand on Elizabeth's shoulder, the faint, warm trace of his celestial qi seeping through her coat to instantly soothe her frantic nerves. "Breathe, Elizabeth. Panicking will not solve whatever trap he has walked into."Elizabeth took a deep, shuddering breath, feeling the cold knot in her chest ease under his touch. "He was supposed to be landing at the airport today from his university in the Capital. I have no idea why he’s at Goldridge Suites or what kind of trouble he’s in.""Then let us go and find out," Alistair said calmly, opening the driver's side door for her before walking around to the passenger seat. "Get in. I will accompany you."Relief washed over Elizabeth as she quickly nodded and slid into the driver's seat. Knowing Alistair was by her side made the oppressive weight of her anxiety feel infinitely lighter. She started the engine, shifted into drive, and tore out of the hospital parking lot toward the central distr
Chapter 436: Big sis, save me!
Alistair turned and walked toward the suite’s balcony doors, looking through the glass down at the quiet hospital courtyard below. Two elite guards from Isabella’s private force stood hidden among the manicured hedges, their sharp eyes scanning the perimeter with unyielding vigilance.Satisfied that the floor was completely secure, Alistair exited the VIP suite, shutting the door behind him with a subtle, metallic click. As he walked down the quiet marble corridor toward the elevators, he retrieved his phone and dialled Master Xie's number. It rang only once before Master Xie picked.“Master Reid.”“Has there been any movement from Elder Kuro's associates?” Alistair asked.Master Xie replied. “Not at all, Master Reid. In fact, Elder Zhao has reason to believe that the demonic cultivators currently in Haven have gone into hiding. It's most likely that with their eyes and ears in the Beggars sect gone, they don't dare to make themselves known anymore.”“That's to be expected.”“Indeed,
Chapter 435: Walking the path of healing and combat
"A foundation is only as strong as its quietest days, Elizabeth," Alistair said smoothly, his hands resting casually in his trouser pockets as they reached the elevator bay. "Your family stood firm when others flinched. Protecting that resolve costs me very little."The elevator doors chimed and slid open.As they stepped inside, Elizabeth remarked. “What happened with the puppeteer… I was really scared. I hated the fact that I couldn't do anything to save my dad or myself.”“You can't expect yourself to be more than what you are capable of. It is impossible.” Alistair simply said. “Regardless, as your disciple, I should be able to do more.”Alistair chuckled. “You are practicing medical arts, not how to fight.”“Then I'd like to learn how to fight as well. I want to be able to defend myself.” Elizabeth said without hesitation.Alistair raised a brow. “Martial arts are significantly harder to learn than the medical arts. Also, learning both at the same time is no easy task. It would
Chapter 434: Checking on the Boltons
Elizabeth took the wheel of her white executive sedan, navigating through the quiet, leafy avenues of Haven's northern district. With the morning sun shining bright and the looming threat of the demonic cultivators temporarily suppressed, the air felt lighter than it had in weeks.Upon their arrival at the hospital, Elizabeth led Alistair to Caleb's private medical ward, which he was sharing with Donald. Pushing open the doors, Alistair walked in to find Caleb Bolton seated upright on his bed, a steaming cup of herbal tea in his hands. Though pale and bearing bandages beneath his silk robe, the sharp, formidable glint had returned to the old patriarch’s eyes.Across from him sat Donald Bolton, looking far better rested, his breathing steady as he reviewed a stack of financial documents."Grandpa, Dad—look who I brought," Elizabeth called out as she stepped into the room. Both men immediately looked up.The moment Caleb saw Alistair walk in, his expression transformed from calm digni
Chapter 433: Going into Hiding
“Elder, this…”“The treasures of the Blood Demon King can wait. It will always be there, but we cannot risk a war with the righteous sect now. So again, I will repeat, all demonic cultivators are to retreat. If there is anything you are doing at the moment, I'd advise you to give it a rest until further notice.”“And what about Alistair Reid?”“He is clearly on the level of a Grandmaster. Someone like that cannot be easily defeated. So, we will keep an eye on him for now. No man can be a fortress forever. Once a chip in his armour shows, we will not hesitate to drive a blade through his heart.”The elders in the cavernous hall bowed their heads in silent, reluctant agreement.Though bloodlust simmered beneath their dark qi, none were foolish enough to dispute the Vice-Sect Master’s logic.A Grandmaster wielding pristine celestial light was a localized apocalypse for demonic practitioners.Pushing forward now was tantamount to suicide."As you command, Vice-Sect Master," Elder Muye int
Chapter 432: A meeting in the dark
"Alistair Reid..." Marianne whispered, her fingers tracing the edge of her jade wine glass until fine cracks appeared in the crystal. "How interesting. A nameless dragon sleeping in a small pond.""Your Majesty, what are our orders?" Samuel asked desperately. "Should I request reinforcements from the Royal Enforcement Division? Grandmaster Elders?""No," Marianne commanded coldly, her sharp mind already shifting pieces across the continental chessboard. "If he truly possesses power beyond the High-Master realm, sending mere elders will only humiliate our lineage further. Besides... The arranged marriage with the Shadow Royal Family of Arcadia cannot be delayed much longer. Lord Shadow has already sent word that his grandson will soon finalize his worldly trials."A dark, calculating smile touched the Queen's lips as she gazed out over her frozen empire."You may return to the Capital," Marianne ordered smoothly. "As for this Alistair Reid... send the shadow intelligence unit to invest
