"Look at that. We thought the poor thing had gone into hiding."
Lucian no longer felt hurt by the harsh words Elle was throwing at him.
The laughter and chatter that once filled the hall died down instantly the moment Lucian stepped foot into the Reign mansion. Everyone's eyes narrowed at him suspiciously.
Lucian stood rigid. He had come to talk to the Reign family for the last time before his departure to Aurelia.
"I just came here for the last time. This will be my last time setting foot in this house," Lucian informed them, looking at each one of them with an emotionless face.
"Oh, that's nice. You have actually made the right decision once in your lifetime. You should get going already," Mr Reign said slyly, turning towards Lucian.
"You're right. I have made the right decision. A decision I should have made a very long time ago," Lucian answered with a smirk.
Mr Reign's face darkened. His eyes narrowed as he sensed the authority in Lucian's tone.
"Then what are you still doing here?" Mr Reign asked, glaring at Lucian.
"Shall I remind you about what your daughter did last night? She signed the divorce papers," Lucian stressed. His voice was as authoritative as ever, as expected of a future king. "Now I have reciprocated her actions by signing them as well. We are officially divorced. We are no longer husband and wife."
Lucian glanced at Aria with a menacing look. His face held no emotion. He just stared at her blankly.
Aria stared back at him. If she hadn't been living with Lucian under the same roof for a long time, she would have been trembling by now. She might even have been clinging to her dad because of how serious and terrifying Lucian looked at that moment.
This man was at it again, putting on his out-of-this-world and unquestionable act. He was so immersed in it that he still managed to send shivers down her spine like a stream of spring water.
"Come over here and take the divorce papers," Lucian said, looking at her. She flinched. She stared at him and tried to pull her hand away from Lawrence's grip to take the papers.
But Lawrence didn't let go.
"Your Highness, aren't you taking this too far? Your tone alone made her flinch, and you expect her to come to you?" Lawrence told Lucian with a serious look.
"I won't harm her, Birla," Lucian assured Lawrence.
Yet, Lawrence didn't let go of Aria's hand. He contemplated for a moment. Then he remembered that the Jiang never broke their promises to anyone. Even when his father and the acting ruler of Aurelia made a treaty, which his father later broke by refusing to give them land closer to their territory, despite its rich mineral resources, the Jiang still helped him win the famous war against a kingdom named Kavya.
They were still living in the glory of winning that famous battle with the support of the Jiang.
Lawrence relented and finally released Aria's hand.
"Okay, fine."
"Hello! Excuse me, Lawrence, who are you referring to as His Highness?"
"Lucian, of course. Don't you know that he's the Crown Prince of Aure..." Lawrence's words were cut off by Lucian's interruption.
"Speak less, Birla," Lucian ordered him, and Lawrence went mute.
"I don't get something straight. Why call him Birla when you can also call him Lawrence? Secondly, why is he ordering you around?" Mr Reign asked again. But Lawrence went silent. He didn't reply to Mr Reign.
After a while, Lawrence spoke. "I respect him so much because his family has been nice to us, and he's actually the future prin..."
"I said stop it! Are you deaf?" Lucian roared at Lawrence.
Lucian's jaw worked as he took deep breaths, trying to control his temper. Thankfully, he managed to calm down, and his rage subsided.
"Aria. Come over now."
Aria flinched at the sound of his voice, but eventually, her feet carried her towards him. "What is it?" Her voice was barely audible as she lowered her gaze. She couldn't even look at him directly.
Lucian held the divorce papers in his hand and said, "Tell me, Aria... Do you... really want this divorce?" Lucian's voice trembled a little, and she swore she could hear the pain in his voice.
Aria's heart broke when she heard that. She never expected him to say those words, but she had made her decision. "Yes." She nodded her head.
Lucian's world seemed to come to a screeching halt.
"As long as you are happy with your decision," he replied. "I wouldn't mind," Lucian declared.
Aria let out a shaky sigh and pulled the divorce papers from his hold. But the next second, Lucian held her hands. She almost melted from his touch. His body was burning really hot. It looked like he was running a high fever.
Lucian removed his hand and said, "You can go."
"But you're burning up. Let me check your temperature," she suggested, but Lucian was having none of it.
Lucian looked at her as though he were looking at an odd creature he had never seen or heard of before. Then he narrowed his eyes at her. "Tell me, do you still harbour any feelings for me?"
"What? Harbour feelings for you? You're the father of my unborn child."
"Oh, please, just hold it. If I really am the father of your child, you wouldn't have thought about divorcing me. And your public display of affection for Lawrence only made matters worse," he told her coldly.
Aria was left dumbstruck. She couldn't bear his presence any longer. "Just get your fucking ass out of my house. Yes the child isn't yours. I no longer want to see you here. You poor beggar!" Aria yelled at him at the top of her voice.
Burning with rage, Lucian made a vow before leaving the house. "If you think that Lawrence is capable of protecting you from the vampire wrath, then I'm sorry to burst your bubbles, because that will never happen."
"And also, I vow that I will never intervene in the battle."
With that, he turned his back and walked majestically out of the house.
"It's okay, Aria. promise to take care of you and your child."
At the sound of Lawrence's calm and soothing voice, Aria embraced him, burying her head in his chest. He held her, wearing a sinister smirk.
"I think I should just reveal my ulterior motive for coming to Aria's birthday party, especially now, in their worried state." He smiled wildly at his thoughts.
"I actually need a favour from you. Can you lend us your biggest dragon, the one named Violent? The largest of them all. We need it to fight an important battle."
"What! We can't give the dragon to just anybody. It has been confined to Dragon Hill for a long time, mainly because of the war that would break out," Mr Reign said to Lawrence. He wasn't pleased with his words.
Lawrence smile faded and was now replaced by a dark expression.
"Then I'm sorry. I can't help you people in any way."

"What do you mean by you can't help us? We are looking for a suitable man for my precious Aria.""I know." Lawrence faked a smile. "We don't really need the dragon now. I'm sure you will help the Birla family with it when the time comes."Mr Reign's face turned sour after hearing what Lawrence said. Is this man crazy? He can't help him with the dragon."I know it might be hard for you, but please consider this the first favour I will be asking of the Reign family since we got to know each other. I know you won't fail me. Am I right?" Lawrence told him firmly."Alright, since you need a dragon, I will help with it, but definitely not Violent. I will give you the others," Mr Reign said.Mr Reign continued, explaining his reasons to Lawrence. "The only reason I won't give you Violent is that, for hundreds of decades, no one has been able to summon it. Anyone who tries will have their power drained because of its sheer size.""Oh, I'll see about it, then."---The moon began to disappear

He would have sworn with his entire being that she wouldn't do this.Standing on the last step, Lucian contemplated turning away and heading back to his room, but before he could react, Elle was standing in front of him."Oh, why are you running away? Are you afraid that the guest might laugh at your disgusting and poor outfit?" Elle sneered.Lucian gritted his teeth in frustration. He had come to the conclusion that he now hated Elle to the core, but he was too tired to argue with her. Remaining silent, he endured her taunts.Elle observed his lack of response but still continued."Why are you suddenly playing dumb? You're the type who challenges others. What happened? Did a cat cut your tongue?" Elle questioned him mockingly. She looked at her daughter, then returned her gaze to Lucian."Why are you staring at Aria like that? I can sm

Lucian's face darkened at the sight of the doctor. He had strictly told Max not to let the doctor come. Did Max defy him? Chapter 5 I will bear the consequences
Lucian looked at his Aria with confusion. He never thought Aria would sign the divorce papers after everything they had been through together. Never in his wildest dreams had he anticipated that she would be easily fooled by her family into divorcing him."Lucian, I... I..." Aria swallowed hard. She wasn't able to explain to him why she had taken such a drastic step because she feared he wouldn't be able to accept it. Nevertheless, she needed to let him know why she had signed the papers."Actually, Lucian..." Her voice was low as she began explaining to him that her dad had made a promise. "Dad has secured our child's future. He said that if I don't divorce you, he won't assist us. He has secured our child's future.""Are you listening to yourself, Aria? Who told you that I can't take care of our child? Have you also been seeing me as a poor, useless guy?""No, Lucian. You're getting it all wrong. It's not what you're thinking.""Then make me understand!" Lucian's voice reverberated
