The morning light filtered through the panoramic windows of the Rose Corporation headquarters, casting a soft glow across Amelia’s spacious office, with a view of the bustling city stretching endlessly beneath her.
Amelia stood by the window with her arms folded, a cold and distant expression on her face. Behind her, Lisa sat comfortably on a plush sofa, a steaming hot cup of coffee in her hand as she spoke with a confident and dismissive tone.
“I’m telling you, Amelia, you’re overthinking it,” Lisa said, waving her hand dismissively. “Sebastian? He’s just an ordinary soldier. There’s absolutely no way someone like him owns a card like that.”
Amelia didn’t respond immediately. Instead, she furrowed her brows as she replayed the events of the previous night in her mind—the appearance of the Heavenly Dragon Card, Victoria Sterling’s sudden appearance, and the way everything had turned upside down so quickly.
Something didn’t add up, but she couldn’t name what.
Lisa leaned forward, her voice lowering as if she were explaining the obvious.
“Think about it. He’s a soldier your grandpa arranged for you to marry. He has no rank, no background, nothing! And suddenly he has access to something only people like Isaac Rutherford can give?” She scoffed. “It doesn’t add up.”
Amelia turned slightly. Her gaze was calm, but there was a trace of hesitation lingering in her eyes.
“Then how do you explain what happened last night?” she asked sceptically.
“That’s simple.” Lisa shrugged. “He’s probably working for someone important. Someone powerful probably gave him the card temporarily to handle something, and he got lucky that we ran into him at that moment.”
She took a sip of her coffee before continuing.
“Come on, Amelia. People like Isaac Rutherford don’t deal with nobodies, Amelia. That’s just reality. Do you really think that a man like Isaac Rutherford would lower himself to acknowledge a random soldier, let alone go ahead to give him a card as exclusive as the Heavenly Dragon Card?”
Amelia didn’t respond, but her lips pressed into a thin line.
"Cameron was just unlucky. We should talk to him." Lisa said as she set down her coffee cup. "His company got blacklisted because he wanted to treat us to dinner.”
Amelia frowned. Lisa’s conjecture sounded reasonable—too reasonable, in fact—but when she remembered the way Sebastian had acted completely unfazed even when surrounded by ridicule and hostility, she couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to him.
Still, the idea that he was anything more than an ordinary soldier felt even more absurd.
“You might be right…” Amelia said finally, although her tone lacked conviction.
“Of course I am. Don’t let something like this get to you. He just got lucky, that’s all.” Lisa scoffed as she leaned back into the sofa. “We’ll see how long his luck lasts.”
Just as Amelia was about to respond, her phone rang sharply on the desk. She walked over and picked it up.
“Yes?”
“Miss Lockwood, something’s wrong!” Her secretary said, her voice tensed and hurried.
Amelia’s expression shifted. “What happened?”
“Sky Investments Holdings and Crown Investments pulled out their funding all at once! They pulled out without any explanation!”
“WHAT?!” Amelia exclaimed in shock. “What do you mean ‘without explanation’? Who approved this?!”
“I—I don’t know, ma’am, but that’s not all. Two of our largest material suppliers—Jinling Group and the Yangtze Group—have suddenly suspended all shipments and refused to provide us with the necessary materials for the West District project!” the secretary continued.
“Miss Lockwood, we used the majority of our budget to secure this project. I’m afraid that if they pull out right now, it will be disastrous for us. The finance department has reported that our stock price has already dropped by 20%, and it’s still dropping!”
For a brief moment, the office fell completely silent, and Amelia’s mind went blank.
“What the…?” she said, her voice low, almost disbelieving. Lisa immediately stood up, her expression changing.
“What’s going on?” Lisa asked worriedly.
Amelia didn’t answer her, her eyes darkening as the weight of the situation sank in.
“I’ll be there immediately,” Amelia said coldly before ending the call. She lowered the phone slowly, her usual composure cracking just slightly.
Lisa stepped closer, her brows furrowed. “Amelia?”
Amelia’s gaze turned sharp, her mind already racing.
“Lisa, I think we’re in big trouble.”

Meanwhile, in another part of the city, Sebastian stepped out of the Nine Dragons Pavilion with a calm expression. The cold morning air brushed against his face as he adjusted his coat slightly, his movements unhurried.
Although the penthouse suite was comfortable, he had no intention of idling around. His injury had not fully healed, and if he left it unattended, it would only slow him down further.
He needed some rare herbs to treat them.
Sebastian walked through several streets, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings as he searched for a suitable pharmacy or herb shop. However, after checking multiple places, he found nothing that met his standards. Most of them either lacked the herbs he needed or carried poor-quality substitutes.
Time passed, and before he knew it, he had spent three hours on his search. Just as he was about to give up, a passerby casually mentioned one last place not too far away.
Sebastian hesitated for a while before deciding to check it out.
A few minutes later, he arrived at the pharmacy.
The pharmacy stood quietly at the corner of the street, its exterior modest yet well-maintained. A spotless white Mercedes-Benz S-Class was parked neatly just outside the pharmacy. Sebastian’s gaze swept over it once before he stepped inside.
The moment he entered, a faint herbal fragrance filled the air. Behind the counter stood a middle-aged man, carefully sorting various medicinal ingredients. At the side of the shop, a woman stood with her back partially turned.
She was stunning, tall and elegant, with a slender yet graceful figure. Her long dark hair flowed neatly over her shoulders, and her sharp, refined features carried a natural air of confidence and intelligence. Even in a simple outfit, she exuded an undeniable presence.
Sebastian merely glanced at her before shifting his attention away. Walking up to the counter, he greeted the attendant and listed several herbs calmly.
“I need forty grams of Thundercloud Root powder, twenty grams of Fireheart petals, ten grams of Dragonheart branches, and five grams of Frost Lotus seeds.”
The middle-aged man paused briefly before nodding.
“You’re in luck. We have all of them.”
Sebastian gave a slight nod, a rare hint of relief passing through his eyes. As the man prepared the herbs, Sebastian waited silently.
The man prepared the herbs quickly and handed them over to Sebastian. After confirming the quality of the herbs, he made his payment and turned to leave. However, just as he was about to leave with the packaged herbs, a voice drifted over from the side.
“I need a combination for acute internal deterioration—something that can stabilize the patient’s condition quickly.”
The middle-aged man nodded immediately, his tone turning respectful.
“Of course, Doctor Evelyn. Based on the symptoms you described, I recommend a blend of Redleaf Ginseng, Crimson Heartroot, and White Orchid Stem and a small dose of Golden Reishi extract.”
Sebastian’s brows furrowed slightly, and he slowed his steps. The combination was quite familiar, too familiar even.
After a brief pause, he turned his head slightly. The woman—Evelyn—stood calmly, listening with a composed expression. From her posture alone, it was clear she was used to being respected.
Sebastian’s gaze lingered for a moment before he finally spoke.
“That prescription won’t work.”
Both Evelyn and the pharmacist froze, and they turned to look at him.
Up close, his features were sharp and handsome, but his plain white shirt and black trousers made him look no different from an ordinary passerby.
The pharmacist’s expression darkened immediately.
“And who are you to interrupt?” he snapped.
Evelyn said nothing, but a faint frown appeared on her face.
Sebastian ignored the hostility. His gaze rested briefly on the herbs laid out on the counter before he spoke again, his tone flat and certain.
“That combination will aggravate the condition instead of stabilizing it.”
The pharmacist’s face flushed with anger.
“Nonsense! Do you even know who you’re speaking to? This is Doctor Evelyn Winston, a graduate of the Imperial College of Medicine, an attending physician at Kingston Hospital, and one of the top medical experts in Cloud City!”
Sebastian showed no reaction. He simply looked at Evelyn for a brief moment, then, without the slightest hesitation, he spoke.
“If you follow that prescription, the patient will die.”

Quide’s words had barely left his mouth when Sebastian’s expression changed."The Rose Corporation is being attacked?"Quide's smile widened, mistaking the question for concern. "That's right. Your precious fiancée is watching her company burn as we speak. A faint crease appeared between his brows, and the indifferent calm in his eyes turned extremely cold.He had no love for Amelia, at least not yet, but she was still his fiancée. She was the woman his father had chosen for him, so she was under his protection, whether she knew it or not.“Boys, finish him!” Quide ordered coldly as he cracked his neck, the scar on his face twisting. “Break his legs slowly. The words hung heavily in the air, and for a brief moment, the entire pharmacy went silent. They both stared at Sebastian with shock, then the pharmacist snapped.“What nonsense!” the pharmacist snarled, his face flushing red with anger. “Do you have any idea what you’re saying?!”His voice rose sharply, breaking the tense silence as he glared at Sebastian with unbridled hostility“Who do you think you are? How dare you interrupt a consultation and spout such baseless claims?”“My claims are not baseless.” Sebastian replied coolly, but his indifference only made the pharmacist more furious.“You ignorant fool!” he barked angrily. “Do you even understand the least thing about medicine? Or are you just talking to hear your own voice?”Evelyn remained silent, but her expression had grown colder. Her sharp eyes rested on Sebastian, studying him carefully. There was no arrogance or attempt to show off in his attitude, only certainty.“On what basis are you making that claim?” Evelyn finall
