The rude salesgirl and Aurora both turned toward the car Eric had pointed at. Unlike the other cars in the Bugatti-only outlet, the Bugatti Centodieci was placed inside a locked glass showcase, meaning that any customer who wished to view it could only do so from behind the glass barrier. The key to that showcase was personally kept by the Inventory Manager.

That was only natural considering the Centodieci was a limited-edition Bugatti, with only ten units ever produced in the entire world. In that country, this showroom was the only place it could be found. Many had come before, claiming they wanted to buy it, but after hearing the staggering price, they turned around and walked out to other outlets.

In an average month, the inventory manager unlocked that glass case for a visitor no more than once. In the past three months, it had not been opened at all. Many requests to see the car up close were turned down unless the visitor could prove they were wealthy enough to even consider bu

Marry Jung was a senior surgeon at Carlton Hospital. Who would have thought that she turned out to be the mother of Violet Jung, the woman with the arrogant fiancé who once clashed with Eric. Marry was deeply impressed with Eric’s demeanor, so much that she couldn’t help but imagine—if her daughter wasn’t already engaged, she would gladly arrange for Violet to be matched with Eric. But she quickly brushed aside the thought.“I see. Of course, I sincerely hope you can have dinner with us. My daughter wants to meet you. But, I understand your circumstances.”“Thank you, I’ll try to make it another time. Today, I need to handle the report at the police station regarding the hit-and-run case that happened to Jeffrey’s mother.”Eric deliberately prioritized that matter, even asking for permission to skip classes today. He didn’t want to postpone it any longer. The sooner he reported it, the sooner the culprit might be caught.“Yes, yes, whoever did it deserves heavy punishment. Hitting som

Not long after the female doctor went back in, Jeffrey’s mother was wheeled into the operating room. Naturally, that made Jeffrey even more anxious. Not knowing what the medical team was about to do, he tugged at Eric and asked where his mother was being taken.“Your mom is going to get better treatment. You want her to wake up soon, right? Come on, let’s follow her.” Eric stood and extended his hand.Jeffrey nodded and held Eric’s hand, following along in the direction his mother was taken. They waited for the operation outside the room. Eric was grateful that Jeffrey couldn’t read yet. If the boy knew she was in surgery, Eric was certain he would scream and wail, mourning his mother right then and there.Eric’s heart pounded wildly, but he tried to appear calm so Jeffrey wouldn’t worry. He kept the boy distracted, chatting about anything and everything: Jeffrey’s family, cartoons, favorite foods, hobbies, idols, and all sorts of random questions about the natural world, fueled by a

Eric stood up, lifting the boy into his arms before sprinting toward the woman lying on the roadside. After setting the boy down, Eric checked the mother’s breathing and pulse. Her body was drenched in rain and blood.“A white car hit my mom and sent her flying,” the boy sobbed between gasps.Eric brushed the boy’s hair back and smiled reassuringly. “Your mom is still breathing. We need to get her to the hospital.”Eric carried the woman to his car, the boy trailing close behind. “Can you hold on to your mom?” Eric asked after securing the unconscious woman with a seatbelt. The boy nodded quickly. “I can.”“Good kid.”Eric darted to the driver’s seat, fired up the engine, and sped down the road.On the way to the hospital, Eric’s face was tense. Behind his calm expression, he carried a deep worry for the middle-aged woman. He knew her condition was critical. Blood was trickling from her ear, and Eric suspected a possible concussion. From time to time, Eric glanced at the boy and his m

“Done.”Chloe gasped. In her mind, she cursed herself for letting her thoughts run wild. If Eric had the ability to read minds, she would have no choice but to undergo plastic surgery or wear a mask to hide her shame after what she had just been thinking.“Thank you.” Chloe smiled at Eric for the very first time.Eric stared at her silently for a moment. His intense gaze only made Chloe even more nervous and uneasy.‘Wait, is Eric about to kiss me? Oh my god, what do I do?’ Chloe’s mind spun. Should she stay still or refuse him?If she stayed still, she feared being labeled a cheap woman. But if she refused, she worried it would upset Eric, especially since they had just made peace. The truth was, Chloe didn’t actually mind if Eric kissed her. In fact, part of her was waiting for it.‘Maybe I’m losing my mind,’ Chloe thought, clutching her clothes tightly.“It’s nothing.” Eric smiled, started the engine, and drove out of the campus.‘Damn it!’ Chloe nearly hit her own forehead. For th

In reality, Chloe’s car wasn’t broken at all. It was perfectly fine, still parked in the special faculty parking lot. As the daughter of the university’s top donor, Chloe received several privileges, including her own exclusive parking space.Thinking Eric wouldn’t know about her car since it wasn’t parked in the same area as his, Lily’s lie went unchallenged. Chloe and Betty didn’t deny it either. If they refused to go along with the story, it would only make them look worse. The last thing they wanted was for Eric to think even less of them. Now the girls found themselves trapped in an incredibly awkward situation. They remembered clearly that everything Eric had just said was simply repeating Chloe’s own words back at her.Not wanting things to grow even more uncomfortable, Betty forced out a dry laugh, followed by her friends’ stiff grins.“Eric, forget whatever happened yesterday or today. It was just a joke. You know, life without a little humor would be boring, right?” Betty sa

Chloe and Betty furrowed their brows. They questioned the meaning behind Lily’s words. If Lily knew the identity of the buyer of the Bugatti Centodieci, shouldn’t that have been good news?Lily sighed. “Girls, the buyer’s name was Eric White. That’s Eric’s full name.”“What?” Chloe and Betty shrieked at the same time. Their eyes widened in disbelief at what they had just heard.Chloe asked again, just to be sure. “You’re certain it’s the same Eric, the freshman in our department?”Lily nodded. “I saw the CCTV footage in my mother’s showroom. I know this will shock you, but facts are facts. The luxury car Eric drives is his own.”Betty suddenly went limp, resting her chin on the table. Chloe wasn’t much different; her entire body felt drained of strength, her hand holding up her head as if she couldn’t carry its weight anymore.“Lily, if that’s true, then this really is bad news. Very bad.” Betty held her head, dizzy with the revelation.“Why didn’t you tell us earlier? If I had known,
