Two days after the verdict. Two days after Chase whispered "Go and eat shit Box Boy" and I recorded it.

I woke up in Ridgewood to my phone buzzing again. It was I*******m notifications. 1,000+. My name tagged.

Sloane texted me first: JACK DON'T GO ONLINE. DON'T LOOK. Which means you have to look.

Vivian went live. 7 AM, from the big house. She never goes live. She thinks live is for poor people.

But there she was, no filter, no pearls, hair messy, sitting in the big kitchen that used to be my mom's kitchen, holding a mug that said 'Number one MOM', crying. Real crying. Or the best fake real crying I've ever seen.

Then Chase, stitching it, duet, whatever they call it. In the same kitchen, same mug, but his says 'Number one SON'.

"My brother Jack is heartless. He has $2.1 trillion and he left his family homeless. He grew up in this house. My mom made his favorite mac and cheese when he was little. And now he leaves her to die. He wouldn't even give us 15%. 15%! He has $2.1T! He can't spare $315 billion for the woman who raised him? I have to sell my dad's house. Thanks, Box Boy."

He used my name. Box Boy. His brand.

Then Sloane was forced in. You could tell she didn't want to be there. They put her in the middle, she was looking off camera.

"Yeah, um, my brother has a lot of money now and, um, we don't have anywhere to go. It's sad."

She mouthed "sorry" to the camera when Vivian wasn't looking.

By 10 AM, it had 500k views. Greenwich Time picked it up: "TRILLIONAIRE HEIR LEAVES FAMILY HOMELESS, STEPMOTHER CLAIMS"

By noon, 2 million views. Comments:

"Eat the rich, even when the rich is Box Boy!"

"How can you have $2.1T and not take care of your mom? My mom raised me!"

"Box Boy is a monster. $75k a year to manage a trillion dollar company? That's insulting."

"That poor woman raised him from 6! He is heartless!"

No one mentioned that Vivian made me eat in the kitchen. No one mentioned interior sheetrock. No one mentioned she tore down Dad's workshop on a Saturday just to get rid of me. No one mentioned she sued me first, for $1.05 trillion.

Because Vivian knows how to do I*******m. I know how to do studs. Studs don't trend. Crying moms trend.

Brown called me, furious.

"Jack, don't respond! Don't post! That's what they want! They want you to look defensive!"

Mike called me: "Boss, people are outside Unit 14B filming. Saying you're a slumlord."

Luis sent a screenshot of a TikTok: a girl in Greenwich crying, "Box Boy has $2.1T and won't even buy his mom a house, this is why men are trash."

$2.1 trillion makes everyone an expert on your family.

I sat on the floor of my apartment, rusty box on the table, recording of Chase saying "eat shit Box Boy" on my phone, and 2 million people calling me heartless.

I could have posted the recording. I could have posted the text where Vivian said "tear it down Saturday when town hall is closed." I could have posted the photo of the pool house collapsing. I could have ended them online in 5 minutes.

I didn't. Because Dad's video said: "Don't do it to humiliate them. Do it to free them." So I did what Dad would have done. I went to work.

At 1 PM, I went to Brooklyn Navy Yard, Unit 14B. My crew was there, Mike, Luis, Jamal, Tommy Jr., and Sloane, who snuck out of the big house with a backpack.

We put our phones in the rusty box and closed it. And we started building.

Hawthorne Lithium Corp's first product isn't lithium. It's a house. The first house that runs on its own battery, off-grid, white oak stage included, that doesn't fall down when it rains.

We framed it in 6 hours. Real studs, 16-inch on center, exterior sheetrock, real waterproofing. Sloane learned to hammer. She hit her thumb twice and kept going.

At 7 PM, Brown came by with takeout and showed me his phone.

Vivian's video was at 5 million views. Chase's at 3 million. They were doing a second live, now with a GoFundMe: "Help Vivian & Chase Keep Their Family Home: Victims of Trillionaire Stepson" Goal: $400,000. They raised $12,000 in an hour. From strangers who think I'm heartless.

I looked at the frame of the new house. Straight, true, glowing a little in the shop lights because white oak glows.

"Let them have I*******m," I said to Brown.

Brown: "Jack, they're winning online. They're turning Greenwich against you."

Me: "Greenwich was never for me. Greenwich is for people who post crying videos in $80 mugs. I'm for people who build houses that don't fall down."

I turned my phone back on. I posted one photo, no caption, no filter.
