Chapter 010

I felt quite uneasy, but I didn't share these thoughts with Mandy.

I continued walking along the coastline, hoping to make more discoveries.

Unfortunately, as time passed, Mandy and I didn't find anything significant. The only thing that made us somewhat happy was a small fragment of wreckage on the beach.

From this wreckage, I found a fire axe, a tool with tremendous utility.

Firstly, it could be used to chop trees and bamboo, saving me the strenuous effort and time it took to use stones. More importantly, it could serve as a weapon. Even if we encountered fierce beasts, I wouldn't be defenseless.

Since I had beaten Harold earlier, he was nursing a grudge. With this axe, it would act as a deterrent.

However, what made both Mandy and me uneasy was that after the sunset, the sky suddenly darkened unusually. Patches of ominous clouds floated in, and gusts of strong wind swept through. The trees by the beach were swaying and rustling as if emitting an eerie laughter.

Without a doubt, this was a sign of an impending storm.

"Hell no, we must quickly return to the cave!"

Mandy exclaimed. I nodded with a serious expression.

Apart from the potential changes the storm could bring, just getting soaked could be a big problem. Mandy and I didn't immediately run back to the forest but headed towards the beach first. Facing a storm in this open area could be life-threatening.

Although we had separated from Queenie and the others, I couldn't bear to see them meet a tragic end, except for Harold.

When we returned to the beach, Queenie and the others were also staring at the sky in panic, unsure of what to do. At my suggestion, Mandy invited them to take refuge in the cave.

Upon hearing this, Queenie's face eased, and she was about to express her gratitude when Lillian suddenly pointed towards the sea and exclaimed.

We turned our heads to look, and couldn't help but be shocked.

At this moment, under the gusts of strong wind, the once calm sea suddenly went wild. Roaring waves relentlessly crashed against the shore, the sound echoing like the furious roar of a distant giant.

What was even more frightening was that under such stormy conditions, the seawater rapidly approached the shore.

The tide was rising at an unusually fast pace!

If this continued, it wouldn't take long for the area we were in to be completely submerged by the sea.

The roaring waves brought back involuntary memories of the day the shipwreck occurred. The sea at that time was like an enraged giant, creating a chilling scene.

Everyone's faces turned pale.

"Run!"

I shouted, not forgetting to grab some supplies from the camp, such as clothes, before heading towards the forest in a sprint.

Others also realized the severity of the situation and started running.

Mandy led the way, with Harold, me, Lillian, and Queenie closely following.

What made me inwardly sneer was that Harold, this scoundrel, had been constantly lying, claiming that he had a leg cramp and it hadn't recovered. Earlier, when we were searching for food by the beach, he pretended to limp, seeking sympathy from the two women.

However, at this moment, this guy was running the fastest. If Mandy wasn't leading, he would probably have rushed to the front.

Among all the people, I had the best physical strength and ample energy. While running, I couldn't help but contemplate all these matters. However, just as I was thinking about how to expose Harold later, I suddenly heard a painful scream from behind.

Swiftly turning around, I saw Queenie fall to the ground, looking particularly disheveled.

I sighed inwardly, feeling that this woman really couldn't make it without me. I quickly walked over, and amidst her exclamation, I lifted her without hesitation.

This time, as I carried her on my back, Queenie didn't resist me as she did before. Instead, she blushed and thanked me. Hearing her apologies like a mosquito's buzz, my mood improved slightly, and I couldn't help but pick up the pace.

Even with Queenie on my back, I continued to run quickly. The forest rapidly retreated from my sight, and the roaring sound of the sea behind us grew fainter. I couldn't help but heave a sigh of relief.
