Silas Moreau raised his right hand, and like trained dogs, the roaring crowd of thugs fell into dead silence.

He turned back around slowly, his eyes locking on Jaden Rift. His lips twisted into a grin that oozed menace. "You want to fight?" His voice was low, but it cut like a blade through the heavy air.

Jaden didn’t show any signs of fear. He met that grin with one of his own—smaller, calmer, colder. “You sure?”

There was something in Jaden’s tone that made a few of the younger goons in the crowd shift uncomfortably. It wasn’t cocky. It wasn’t desperate. It was surgical. Clean. Like he already knew how this was going to end.

Silas was just about to fire off something snide when—

WEE-OOO—WEE-OOO!

Sirens screamed in the distance. Getting louder. Fast.

Dozens of heads turned, eyes wide and alert. Within seconds, a fleet of armored vehicles tore through the street, kicking up dust and roaring like hellhounds. Steel-gray, fully loaded anti-hijacking units. Markings: Crimson Unit Special

Suddenly, the heavy oak doors slammed open.A man in a sleek Armani suit stormed in, flanked by three of his men. His face was pale, his jaw tense. Travis Kroll—young master of the Arden Grand Hotel—didn’t walk in like he owned the place. He looked like a man about to lose everything. He'd rushed in the moment he received info that someone had dared to smash a bottle on jones Morello's head.“Mr. Morello!” Travis called out before anyone else could speak. His eyes darted to the blood on the floor, the cracked marble, the unconscious staff in the corner. “I came the moment I heard—”Jones Morello didn’t even look at him. He was seated, one arm resting across the back of the sofa, the other nursing a split lip. His expression was ice. “So?” Jones said, voice razor-thin. “What do you plan to do about this?” Jones Morello only cared about one thing at the moment. And that's to break that little brat's bones.Travis’s throat bobbed as he swallowed hard. “Mr. Morello, I assure you, this in

Gavin Rourke turned, his face dark. His glare locked on Jones Morello and Lee Brooks like a loaded gun. He held up the counterfeit bottle with disgust, like it was a rotting rat.“This garbage? You’re saying this crap is the real deal?”Lee Brooks visibly crumbled. Sweat poured down his temples. His lips trembled as he tried to speak, but all he managed was a choking sound. Then he buckled under pressure and confessed like a coward.“M-Mr. Rourke... I was told to lie,” he stammered, voice breaking. “It was Mr. Morello’s assistant. He came to me with a deal—told me what to say.”He looked at the ground like it might swallow him whole.“He gave me thirty thousand to back up the story... I’m sorry. I swear, I didn’t know things would go this far.”The room fell silent for a second, cold and heavy.Jones Morello looked like he’d swallowed glass. His pride, his smug arrogance, all of it shattered in real-time. His face lost color, then flushed red with fury and shame, then turned pale agai

The crowd surged closer like sharks smelling blood. Whispers buzzed. Phones came out. Every pair of eyes locked onto the center of the drama.Gavin Rourke moved through the gathering with a careful, deliberate grace, holding the wine like he was transporting a newborn. Not a speck of dust on the bottle. Not a tremble in his hand."Mr. Rift," Rourke said, his voice carrying just enough volume to command attention without sounding performative. "I heard you were looking for top-quality Château Duvall. Allow me to present this to you. Vintage 1990. It's been in my private cellar for years."The label gleamed under the overhead lights like it knew its value. The crowd murmured louder. Someone in the back gasped. Even a few from Morello’s entourage looked rattled.Desmond Coleman, standing beside Rourke, gave a curt nod. No need for introductions. Everyone here knew who they were—especially Jones Morello.Jaden Rift took the bottle with both hands, handling it with a reverence that matched

Lee Brooks slammed his hand on the table, the glass rattling. “You ignorant brat! How dare you insinuate I don’t know my wine!” His face was flushed, veins bulging in his neck like they were ready to burst. “I’ve spent three decades refining this palate—judging international vintages blindfolded while you were still in diapers!”Jaden rolled his eyes, then stayed locked on Brooks with a cold smirk, like he was watching a child throw a tantrum over spilled juice.Jones Morello groaned and waved a hand, clearly done with the back-and-forth. “Enough of this bullshit.” His tone turned sharp, laced with irritation and ego. “Looks like you’re not gonna concede. Someone get in here and stuff this damn bottle down his throat. I want his teeth stained with that ‘fake wine’ he’s so confident about.”But right as his words echoed through the room, the double doors slammed open with a bang. The entire room jerked their heads toward the entrance.A group stormed in, the tension in the room snappin

Elizabeth had already poured a small glass of wine into the decanter with precision and grace. She handed it to Lee Brooks, her smile polished and charming.“I’ve seen you on TV, Mr. Brooks. Your wine-tasting workshops are nothing short of brilliant,” she said smoothly. “It’s a real honor to witness your skills in person.”Lee Brooks chuckled politely as he accepted the glass. “You’re too kind, Miss Verrick.”Jones Morello, seated like a king awaiting a public execution, clapped once. “Enough small talk. Mr. Brooks, let’s put this nonsense to bed. I want these clowns to remember tonight every time they walk past a liquor store.”Lee Brooks nodded, professional demeanor slipping into focus. He raised the glass with deliberate calm, swirling the deep red liquid slowly. His wrist flicked expertly, catching the room’s dim light in the swirl. Then, he leaned in and inhaled deeply, his eyes fluttering shut like a man savoring a memory.A low hum of approval left his throat. He took a sip—sm

The Verrick couple sat stiffly at the edge of the velvet-cushioned chairs, tension carved into their features as the atmosphere in the room thickened like smoke. The smug expression that had once danced on their faces now faltered, replaced with unease. This wasn’t how they pictured the night going.Selena’s manicured fingers clutched the hem of her dress as her eyes darted between her husband and the storm that was Jaden. She hadn’t expected him to step up, much less take a swing at Jones Morello’s ego in public.A bet? With Jones? What the hell was he thinking? Her breathing quickened as the realization hit. It was too late to pull him back now. The beast had been provoked. She reached out and grabbed Jaden’s wrist tightly, her voice low and trembling. “What are you doing? That man could crush us. You think challenging his wine is worth dying over?”Jaden didn't pay attention to her words. His jaw was set, cold eyes focused straight ahead as if he hadn’t heard her. But he did. He ju
