"Through sleep, a person's brain can be controlled, allowing them to be manipulated in any way." Mr. David said. He was their new psychology teacher. Well, "new" in the sense that he had been brought in for just two weeks. Their regular teacher, Mr. Neely, had gone to New York for advanced training, which would take two weeks to complete. During that time, Mr. David would be filling in for him.

"A victim can be psychologically tortured in their sleep," Mr. David continued in his deep, resonant voice. "To them, it would feel completely real."

The entire class stared at him, mouths slightly open as they listened to his lecture. Whether they were actually paying attention was unclear. Maybe they were just pretending—like they usually did in Mr. Thomas’s class. But from the way Archie was listening, he seemed completely engrossed. Then again, a troublemaker like him would obviously enjoy this kind of eerie topic.
