The smoke in the distance slowly faded.

The city returned to normal.

Cars continued moving.

People laughed.

Shops remained open.

Nobody seemed aware that their world was only three days away from destruction.

Ethan stood silently on the sidewalk.

Above him floated the crimson countdown.

71:02:17

71:02:16

71:02:15

Every second felt heavier than the last.

Three days.

Only three days remained.

DING!

The System suddenly projected a new blue panel.

Another screen appeared.

Ethan immediately understood.

When the apocalypse started...

His apartment would become a death trap.

The dimensional crack was literally going to appear inside the building.

Remaining there would be suicide.

Just then...

The System displayed a flashing arrow.

Recommended Location Found

Distance: 2.1 km

Ethan quickly hailed a taxi.

"Take me here."

The driver glanced at the map and said,

"That's an abandoned warehouse district."

"Are you going for Business?"

he asked ;

Ethan smiled and said;

"Something like that."

Thirty minutes later...

The taxi stopped.

Ethan stepped out.

A cold wind greeted him.

Rows of abandoned warehouses stretched before him.

Most had been empty for years.

Broken windows.

Rusty gates.

Weeds growing through concrete.

Nobody came here anymore.

The System's arrow pointed toward the largest warehouse.

Ethan pushed open the rusted gate.

CREAAAKK...

Dust filled the air.

The building was enormous.

At least the size of two football fields.

But what surprised Ethan most wasn't the warehouse itself.

It was what lay beneath it.

DING!

Guardian Scan Complete

A holographic map appeared.

Ethan stared in disbelief.

The warehouse sat directly above a massive underground structure.

Old tunnels.

Storage chambers.

Emergency bunkers.

Some sections extended hundreds of feet underground.

"What is this place?"

The System answered.

Cold War Survival Facility

Construction Date: Classified

Current Condition: 32%

Ethan's heart raced.

An underground bunker.

Exactly what he needed.

DING!

Mission Activated

Claim the Warehouse.

Time Limit: 24 Hours.

Reward:

• Guardian Shelter Blueprint

• Construction Mastery

• $10,000

Ethan looked around.

"Claim it?"

Then he noticed something.

The warehouse wasn't empty.

Three men were already inside.

One sat on a crate smoking.

Another was drinking beer.

The third appeared to be their leader.

A large scar stretched across his face.

The scar-faced man narrowed his eyes.

"You're lost, kid."

His voice echoed through the building.

"This place belongs to us."

Ethan frowned.

"Belongs to you?"

The man laughed.

"We use this place for storage."

"Private business."

The other two stood up.

Their expressions weren't friendly.

DING!

The System suddenly spoke.

Warning

These individuals are not the legal owners.

Criminal Records Detected.

The scar-faced man cracked his knuckles.

"You've got ten seconds to leave."

Ethan slowly looked toward the underground entrance behind them.

That bunker...

Was the key to surviving the apocalypse.

And these men were standing directly in his way.

The countdown above Ethan's head continued ticking down.

71:00:01

71:00:00

The System displayed one final message.

Optional Mission

Remove Illegal Occupants.

Reward:

• Beginner Combat Skill Upgrade

• Guardian Reputation +20

The three men began walking toward him.

The leader smiled coldly.

"Looks like we're doing this the hard way."

Ethan slowly clenched his fists.

For the first time since obtaining the System...

He didn't feel fear.

Because he knew something they didn't.

In three days...

The world would end.

And this warehouse would become one of the safest places in the city.

  • The Woman Behind the Door

Chapter 35: "Ethan..." The voice came again. Soft. Faint. Almost like a memory. But Ethan knew it. His mother's voice. He stood frozen before the Guardian Vault. For years, he had convinced himself that he had accepted her death. He had buried the memories. He had learned to live without her. And now, after all these years, that familiar voice had returned. "Ethan..." He stepped toward the door. Sophia immediately caught his arm. "Wait." Ethan looked at her. "That's my mother." "You don't know that." "I know her voice." Sophia didn't release him. "And we just learned that someone may be manipulating the Guardian network." Ethan's expression tightened. She was right. Everything surrounding the Vault was suspicious. M

  • The Woman in the Photograph

Chapter 34: Ethan didn't sleep. He spent the entire night sitting in the control room. The words continued repeating in his mind. Your mother never died. It was impossible. At least, that's what he had always believed. He remembered the funeral. The flowers. The black clothes. His father's tears. The photograph placed beside the coffin. He remembered being told that she had died from an illness. He had been too young to understand. But now... Everything was suddenly questionable. At six in the morning, Sophia found him. She didn't say anything at first. She simply placed a cup of coffee beside him. Ethan looked up. "You heard." Sophia nodded. "I heard." "What do you think?" She sat beside him. "I think we need evidence." Ethan looked toward the screen. "I know." "Not hope." "Not rumors." "Evidence." He nodded. "You're right." Sophia smiled. "You're learning." Ethan gave her a tired look. "You say that a lot." "Because it's true." Grace entered t

  • The Door That Should Have Been locked

Chapter 33: Ethan couldn't move. For several seconds, he simply stared. Marcus Vale stood in the dimly lit warehouse as if he belonged there. His black coat was perfectly dry despite the rain outside. His expression was calm. Almost amused. And beside him stood Lily. But it wasn't Lily's presence that frightened Ethan the most. It was the fact that Marcus was standing inside the shelter's outer security zone. A place no outsider should have been able to enter. Sophia immediately stepped in front of Ethan, her spear glowing faintly. "Stay behind me." Marcus smiled. "Still protective, I see." Sophia's expression hardened. "How did you get inside?" Marcus didn't answer. Instead, he loo
