The next day at the hospital—

“Hey, did you hear the hottest news these past two days?”

A young nurse whispered to her colleague while glancing at Martin, who was mopping the floor.

“What? Are you serious? That lowly man is Quinn’s husband?”

Pointing at Martin, the other nurse could barely hold back her laughter.

“Oh my God! I thought her husband was some rich guy! Turns out he’s just a janitor! Kicked out of the main mansion and she ends up with trash!”

“Hahaha!”

“This is really the best gossip ever!”

Martin frowned. They know about my relationship with Quinn? he thought.

Since their marriage three years ago, Quinn had never revealed who her husband was.

Someone must have leaked the secret.

Not long after, an elderly woman in worn-out clothes came running down the hospital corridor, carrying a boy of about five years old in her arms.

“Nurse, please, I beg you—do something for this child.”

Standing before the counter, she looked at the two nurses desperately.

“Fill out the form first.”

One nurse pushed a sheet of paper toward her indifferently.

Looking the woman up and down, the disgust on her face was barely concealed.

“Y-Yes.”

The woman placed her trembling hand on the paper.

“I’ve filled it out. Please, treat my child now.”

Her face pleaded for immediate action.

“What did you say?” the nurse snapped. “Can’t you read? If you want treatment, pay first. Don’t ask for service before payment. Understand?”

She tapped the column showing the required f*e.

“T-Twenty… twenty thousand? I don’t have that much money.”

“That’s not my problem. If you don’t have money, take your child somewhere else.”

The woman hesitated before speaking again.

“Alright. I’ll find the money. But can you treat him first?”

“Are you stupid? Pay first.”

The nurse tapped the treatment f*e column with her pen.

“No money, no service.”

“But his condition is very serious,” the woman begged. “If he’s not treated immediately, I…”

Her face turned pale. Just imagining something happening to the child drained the strength from her body.

At the same time, Martin, who had been watching, narrowed his eyes as he looked at the boy.

“His eyes are swollen, but his cheeks are fine?” he murmured. “Why does this look familiar?”

Dropping his mop, Martin quickly approached the woman.

“Ma’am, may I see your son?”

“Y-Yes.”

Martin placed his palm against the boy’s neck.

“You don’t need to worry. I know what’s causing this. I’ll treat him.”

He took the child from the woman and laid him on a wheeled bed.

But before he could leave—

“Hey! What are you doing? Come back! Who do you think you are, doing whatever you want here?”

“Can’t you see?” Martin replied. “His condition will worsen if he’s not treated immediately.”

Without another word, he pushed the bed toward the ICU.

“Stop! Didn’t you hear me? Stop right now!” the nurse shouted again.

Martin ignored her.

Once inside the ICU, he immediately shut the door.

Since it was the end-of-year holiday season, there were no patients inside.

Martin placed his palm on the boy’s forehead.

The child’s body was burning hot. His eyes even appeared slightly bluish.

At first glance, people might assume he had a fever from being beaten.

But Martin knew better.

“No mistake. The symptoms are exactly as written in the manual. This is poisoning from a pine tree snake.”

At this point, a regular doctor might administer paracetamol or something to reduce inflammation.

But that would only cause the venom to spread.

Martin knew the proper method—even if it looked highly unusual.

He extended his index and middle fingers and aimed them at the upper left side of the boy’s abdomen.

Before he could act, the ICU door was suddenly flung open.

“Miss Hayes, look at what he’s doing!”

The nurse pointed at Martin while looking at Quinn, who stood in front of her.

Her lips curled into a smirk.

“He thinks he’s rich because he freeloads at his in-laws’ house, and now he thinks he can treat a patient just because his wife is a doctor’s assistant here? Is that what your husband thinks? How pathetic!”

The nurse had been Quinn’s university classmate. But after losing out in certain competencies, she had only become a nurse, while Quinn had succeeded in becoming a doctor’s assistant.

Unfortunately, she believed Quinn had achieved that position using her beauty and family influence.

She would never accept Quinn’s success.

At that moment, Quinn pressed her lips tightly. Her face was tense.

Not only was she embarrassed that people now knew about her marriage to Martin, she was also ashamed of what he was doing—such reckless behavior could endanger someone’s life.

“I can’t imagine what will happen if the director finds out what your husband is doing,” the nurse sneered. “You’ll definitely be fired. Of course, I could keep quiet if you want. It’s nothing—I just feel sorry for you.”

Quinn knew the nurse’s true intention—to mock her. But she ignored it.

She approached Martin.

“Martin,” she said, then corrected herself. “Mr. Garvey, could you step outside and leave the child to us?”

Martin lifted his head and looked Quinn in the eyes.

Before, he would have done anything she asked.

But today, since he no longer needed to hide his identity, he could not comply.

“I’m afraid I can’t. This child needs immediate treatment. His condition is critical.”

He had to do what needed to be done.

“Mr. Garvey, please. This is beyond your control. Leave it to us.”

Quinn’s tone was polite, but her expression was deeply troubled.

“I’m sorry, Quinn.”

Martin was about to continue what he had started—

But before he could, the sound of firm footsteps entered the room.

“Sir, this cleaning service worker is completely out of line.”

The same nurse pointed at Martin while speaking to a man in his early thirties wearing a white coat.

He was Ethan Downey, the new director of the hospital.

His face was clean-cut, his hair neatly trimmed.

“I already told him to stop, but he’s extremely stubborn.”

Ethan ignored the nurse and walked straight toward Martin.

“What do you think you’re doing? Do you think you’re a doctor? Just because you work in a hospital doesn’t mean you can treat people however you like. Get out.”

“I’m not a doctor. But I know what illness this is. I guarantee I can cure him.”

“Huh? What nonsense are you talking about? Do you know where you are? In this place, only doctors treat patients. Get out. Now.”

His voice rose sharply.

“Sorry. I can’t do that.”

Martin did not move.

The child was in critical condition.

If he delayed even slightly, the boy might lose his life.

And as a former special forces commander, saving lives was his duty.

“You insolent, stubborn troublemaker! If you don’t leave right now, I’ll fire you. This is your final warning.”

Ethan could no longer hide his anger.

For the past month as the new leader of this hospital, everyone who met him bowed and obeyed.

And now a lowly janitor dared to defy him?

It was ridiculous.

Yet instead of hearing an apology—

He saw this man press his two fingers firmly into the boy’s abdomen.

"Excellent! Truly excellent!"While everyone was still lost in shock, Richard, who had been sitting in his chair, immediately stood up and stepped down from the podium."Mr. Garvey, what you have in your hand is truly a gem that is not only priceless but also one of a kind. Everyone would certainly say that. And I agree with that very much."Richard tried to keep his facial expression calm, even though the anger and hatred in his heart for Martin were almost impossible to contain.A few minutes earlier."My God! This is truly beautiful!"Whispered murmurs could be heard from here and there in the hall when Martin showed the Tokhme Ghaz in his hand. Of course, these people did not dare to comment too loudly about the beauty of this diamond because they were embarrassed. Embarrassed because they were the same people who had just insulted and mocked Martin. Seeing that the same man actually possessed such a beautiful gemstone, they were forced to swallow back the words they had just spew

Three seconds earlier."My God! Look! What is that idiot doing? Does he want to pull out a burger and eat it in front of His Majesty like a madman? He truly deserves to be called a lunatic! Hahaha!"Everyone insulted and laughed at Martin very loudly as he pulled his hand out of the wrapper. However, the moment Martin's hand emerged from the wrapper, the faces of those who had been laughing at him immediately changed. They froze, eyes wide with shock."Th-that..."They couldn't even form words with their lips, shocked by what they were seeing. Raising his palm to eye level, under the glare of the spotlights, what lay on Martin's palm shimmered incredibly beautifully. It was a perfectly oval diamond the size of a chicken egg, with a color that was a mix of white and light blue.In the world of gemstones, at a glance, this cut is known as a cabochon cut, where the surface is shaped round or oval and left as smooth as possible. While this cutting technique is common for other gemstones,

As he said that, the most respected appraiser in Norvia knew the rules of the Norvian Royal Challenge very well. As someone close to the royal family, he had heard of a case that occurred nearly two hundred years ago where a challenger retracted their challenge before performing what they were required to do.At that time, all the judges stated that the final decision rested in the King's hands, and it was not necessarily death. Reflecting on that case, if Martin did not show his jewelry and declared that he was withdrawing his challenge, it would be considered the same situation. And in that case, instead of an immediate death sentence, it would be the King's prerogative to determine his fate. And at this point, Cassian would use his influence to beg the King for mercy on behalf of this young man."At the very least, for this once, you must learn..."To listen to the opinions of others. That was what Cassian was about to say when, unexpectedly, Martin just gave a faint smile. "Don't

"This is truly unexpected! In the most satisfying way possible!"Almost all the committee members nodded their heads in satisfaction upon hearing the appraiser from Botswana express his opinion. At the same time, the sound of applause filled the hall. The people present were not just anyone. Even though they weren't technically jewelry experts, they understood a fair amount about luxury jewelry. Hearing the score this man gave, they were convinced it was his way of giving the highest and most accurate assessment possible for *Setareh*. And that just made them admire this piece of jewelry even more.At this moment, people who didn't know the man from Botswana might think that 9.5 was a small number and less than appropriate to describe the beauty of *Setareh*. However, the committee members were more than surprised and pleased to hear such a high score. The man from Botswana had never given a nine to any piece of jewelry before. So the 9.5 that came from his assessment was actually the

"This is truly unbelievable!" they shrieked. "Norvia's best jewelry is about to be exhibited before everyone? I must be lucky to get an opportunity like this!"The five men stopped right in front of Cassian and then stepped back, a gesture to entrust this most valuable object to the appraiser."Please forgive my boldness, Your Majesty."Cassian bowed again toward Ferdinand before placing his hands on the gold-colored covering cloth."Yes, go ahead, Morel. Do it," said Ferdinand. "You have my full permission."Everyone in the room and those watching on television held their breath even more tightly as Cassian placed his hands on the gold cloth.Sreeeet! As soon as the cloth was completely pulled away—though it did not fall to the ground because an attendant quickly caught it, folded it, and placed it on a silver tray held in one hand—everyone's faces seemed to freeze right then and there. Their eyelids did not blink for a single second as they were fixed on the glass case."Oh my gosh!

"And I don't want to make everyone think that the person they ask for help in all their problems is not someone reliable," Ferdinand continued, referring to himself. "I want everyone to know who this man they are worshiping really is."As he said this, he stepped calmly but firmly as his feet walked down past the podium steps. At this moment, watching his back, a wide smile beamed across Richard's face."You are truly great, Father!" he thought. "You managed to influence everyone just with the way you speak."Gazing toward Martin, the prince continued inwardly, "Look at that low, stupid man! I’m sure he has no idea what he’s doing. My father will surely defeat him like swatting a mosquito. Huh! This seems like it will be boring. My father only needs one round to defeat him."In Richard's view, if his father could handle millions of people so easily, then what was difficult about handling a small, worthless parasite like Martin? It was nothing more than too easy. When Ferdinand stepped
